ABSTRACTNot all digital scholarship or digital humanities centers are created equal. Some focus on service, while others conduct research and analysis or are more experimental with research and development applications. All of these usually claim an important component of collaboration, whether that is the sharing of ideas, resources, tools, or staff expertise. However, collaboration is often talked about but not practiced, whether in the library or across campus. This article highlights how cross-campus collaboration is not just a phrase but an underlying foundation for the development and success of a digital scholarship lab at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). The start-up framework includes defining digital scholarship, leadership roles, steps to success, investing in partnerships, and the foundational documentation that has led to the successful establishment of the library as the digital scholarship hub of the university. 相似文献

Over the past four decades, numerous professionals in the field of environmental education (EE) have attempted to take stock of conditions within and outside of EE. In turn, many used the results of their analyses to describe challenges to and opportunities for EE. Many of these challenges and opportunities continue to ring true today, although the purpose of this article is not to explore those, but to explore several contemporary challenges and opportunities. The first challenge posed is to continue to expand and make use of the range of professional development opportunities within the field, such as is apparent in several of NAAEE's sets of Guidelines and related initiatives, particularly as the field continues to grow in numbers and in different directions. A second challenge pertains to the need for increased attention to sustainability in developed and developing nations' contexts, the rapid growth of “Education for Sustainability” (ESD) since UNCED, and the need to maintain clarity over the complex and dynamic relationships between EE and ESD with respect to sustainable development needs. A third challenge pertains to climate change as the most recent “environmental crisis” and set of problems we face, as evidence continues to mount. However, climate change represents a different kind of challenge, and underscores the challenge of preparing citizens to participate in problem-solving and in envisioning desirable futures through EE. In addressing these challenges and opportunities, we must continue to seek out and affirm the best of what is traditional and innovative, as well as effective and adaptive, within the field. 相似文献

A study of sustainable assessment theory in nine tutorial courses at four colleges demonstrated that three long-term learning outcomes improved: Independence, Intellectual Maturity and Creativity. Eight of 10 traits associated with these outcomes were validated through internal reliability, faculty and student rubrics, and faculty case studies reporting pedagogic innovations and improvements of student abilities in self-assessment. The findings suggest that sustainable assessment theory should be applied using methods encompassing a strong commitment to equity, including shared criteria for long-term learning outcomes and faculty and student monitoring of student progress towards outcomes through periodic rubrics and reflective sessions. 相似文献

There is a dearth of information regarding the socioemotional realities of gifted children from ethnically diverse backgrounds, which this research attempts to address. Multiple semistructured narrative interviews were conducted with 22 intellectually superior children aged 4–9 years and with their parents. Manifestations of perfectionism, hypersensitivities, and overexcitabilities were evident among the Filipino gifted children. The implications of such manifestations of heightened sensitivities for educators and diagnosticians were discussed. Cross-cultural contrasts were likewise discussed to demonstrate whether predominant socioaffective traits, characteristics, and issues in the West are likewise evident among gifted children from a culturally different background like the Philippines. 相似文献

This paper describes how two primary head teachers, nationally recognised as role models for the development of an education for sustainable development (ESD) in their schools, manage the implementation of this area. In doing so, it shows how they adopt two very different approaches to ESD and to their job generally, and suggests that whilst there are some commonalities between them, educational leadership needs to be seen as driven by a moral purpose, engaging and re-engaging with each situation, entering into a dialectic with others’ visions, leading to the re-conceptualisation of problems in different ways. This not only suggests a continued tension between such uniqueness and standardised approaches to headship, but raises questions about current policy imperatives for developing models of sustainable leadership. 相似文献

国民经济评价作为建设项目投资决策的重要依据,可使决策更加科学、规范和高效,避免或减少投资失误。当代中国大型公共体育设施建设项目国民经济评价相关研究基本处于空白状态。以逻辑顺序为依据,采用层层推进的方法,对"大型"、"公共性"、"国民经济评价"、"大型公共体育设施国民经济评价"作出界定,形成崭新的概念性框架。针对体育设施的属性,通过对费用——效果、费用——效益等传统国民经济评价方法的梳理、总结、剖析,提出了"综合效益——净投资"具有较好适用性的大型公共体育设施国民经济评价方法。 相似文献
