Fostering Student Engagement and Collaboration with the Library: Student Creation of LibGuides as a Research Assignment

This article describes a project using a student-created LibGuide in conjunction with a literature review assignment for a research course. This collaborative project between a librarian and a professor of International Education was designed and implemented as an avenue for teaching information literacy and to encourage use of library resources. The methodology for the assignment is presented, and the results of the project are discussed in terms of the final products and student reviews. Implications for the use of student-created LibGuides in academic institutions and future directions for this project are presented.

论文通过对查新项目的项目名称、科学技术要点和查新点进行关键词标引,借助EXCEL建立共词矩阵,并采用UCINET建立知识图谱以期找出科研项目之间的联系,可视化展现科研项目之间的研究热点。

本文以新浪微博为平台,通过对中学生读者利用微博行为的调查,从使用微博的时间、原因、习惯以及关注、利用图书馆微博等方面进行了统计与分析,并结合珠海三中图书馆的微博服务的体会,对图书馆的微博服务提出一些建议。

Graphophonemic awareness in adults after instruction in phonic generalisations

A number of studies have shown, counter-intuitively, that skilled adult readers find it difficult to correctly relate phonemes to graphemes in written words. In most adults this is of little consequence. However, teachers are required to show children how to relate phonemes to graphemes when teaching reading. This study investigated whether a brief period of instruction would improve the ability of adults in this task. Results showed a general level of improvement relative to controls. Exposure alone to the task had no effect. Improvement for the instructed group was not very large and there was difficulty relating phonemes to graphemes which had more than one letter. It may be that trainee teachers need instruction to improve knowledge of grapheme phoneme correspondence so that they can pass such knowledge onto young readers.
