Mindset change in a cross-cultural context

Imagine you are Thai and a member of a management team from a European company that acts in an Asian emerging market. Imagine you are a European expat with the assignment to double the turnover from that Asian company in a few years. Imagine you are a Change Maker and they ask you to facilitate the (multinational) management team of that Asian company to develop a market strategy and translate it into a business plan, and you have to deal with cultural differences. How do you manage a small-scale change process based on the principles of action learning in that specific multinational context? That's the essence of this account of practice.     

IEDC method： A new approach to promote students＇ communicative competence

IEDC is an acronym from interaction of English dormitory and class teaching. It is a new, student-centered teaching approach intended for non-English majors in China. This articles states that communicative competence can be developed through various means of cooperative learning.     

远程学习者英语学习动机、策略调查分析

本文调查了远程学习者的英语学习现状、英语学习动机及策略。调查发现他们的学习目的明确．以“工具型”为主。在英语学习过程中,他们最大的英语学习困难是词汇和语法;元认知策略使用较多。但具体的语言学习策略使用较少;远程学习者对自己的学习缺乏监控。因此,本文提出充分利用网络资源,加强面授课教学,培养远程学习者良好的英语学习策略。     

网络教学平台使用的师资培动——香港理工大学的经验

面授和网上教学有机结合的整合式教学越来越成为高校教育和培训的主要模式。本文旨在介绍和分析香港理工大学教学发展中心（简称EDC）如何通过网上教学平台的功能,与面授教学结合起来,发挥面授教学和网上教学的各自优势,使教师培训更加有效。EDC的实践表明,在大学教师培训课程中,发挥网上教学的优势,能帮助学员弥补由于有限的面授教学产生的师生之间、学员和学员之间互动的不足。在网上学习中,通过互相的学习观摩和观念碰撞,能激发学员的学习兴趣,有效地促进学员之间进行探究性学习,同时,这种集体学习的方法,能促进在职教师之间的友好交往和学术交流。     

学分制高校学生学习预警机制的构建

学分制高校在学生的培养过程中,给学生在一定范围内提供了选择课程、教师、学习进程等自由,但也对学生的学习能力提出了更高的要求.如何能在学分制高校教学管理改革不断深入的同时,构建一种机制以提高学生的学习能力,本文在这方面做了积极的探索,提出了应在学分制高校构建学生学习预警机制的设想,并阐述了其内涵、特点、内容体系及运行保障.     

语言学习策略实例研究及教学启示

以某普通高校226名新生为对象,以交互英语和策略训练为教学干预手段,探索了交互英语对策略使用情况和学习成效的影响作用.结果发现:语言学习策略是可以学习和训练的;交互英语和策略训练的结合有利于学生语言学习策略的有效使用和学习成绩的提高;单一的策略训练教学方式对学生学习成效作用不显著.

DISCUSSION, COLLABORATIVE KNOWLEDGE WORK AND EPISTEMIC FLUENCY

ABSTRACT:   This paper argues for an action-oriented conception of learning in higher education: one which marries higher order learning (coming to understand) with apprenticeship in knowledge work. It introduces epistemic tasks, forms and fluency as constructs that are useful in giving a more precise meaning to ideas about collaboration in knowledge construction. Discussion is seen as central to collaborative knowledge work and we examine the role of discussion in supporting weaker and stronger interpretations of collaborative knowledge construction.     

Using interpretative meta-ethnography to explore the relationship between innovative approaches to learning and their influence on faculty understanding of teaching

Faculty experiences of innovative approaches to learning and the changes to their knowledge emerging from such experiences constitute an important area of inquiry that has to date largely been ignored or has been approached with research methods ill-suited to examining such experiences. This paper adopts interpretative meta-ethnography as its research framework to investigate the changes to faculty knowledge that occur when they adopt problem-based learning (PBL). The paper presents themes that emerged through the analysis and argues for future inquiry.
