Men’s Perceptions of Pregnancy-Related Weight Gain: A Psychosocial Firestorm (Upheaval) Intertwined With Supportive Intentions

In-depth interviews were conducted with 16 men who had a significant other who had given birth within the last 5 years. Men were asked about their perceptions of pregnancy-related weight gain, and content analysis was used to identify themes from the interviews. Men described nine themes related to perinatal weight gain: (a) negative perceptions, (b) eating behaviors, (c) exercise habits, (d) health impact, (e) body changes, (f) weight-loss success, (g) “it bothered her more than me,” (h) “the weight gain wasn’t a problem,” and (i) intimacy. Together, these themes offer a glimpse into men’s experiences and highlight the discord and balance between experiencing negative feelings/perceptions and being a supportive partner. This information on how men perceive pregnancy-related weight gain can be used to develop interventions to assist men to support their significant others in meeting weight loss goals following pregnancy.

New Resources for Childbirth Educators and Parents

In this column, reviewers offer perspectives and comments on a variety of new media resources for childbirth educators and for expectant and new parents. The books and DVDs reviewed in this issue''s column address the following topics: new directions for childbirth education classes; pregnancy tips for expectant mothers; empowering women to give birth naturally; midwifery care; breastfeeding; labyrinths and “laborinths” (an alternative approach to preparing for birth); preterm labor; understanding newborns'' language cues; and exercise programs during pregnancy and the postnatal period, as well as exercises that strengthen the pelvic floor and help new mothers deal with incontinence.     

Keep It Simple: A Lesson in Linking Teens to Health Care

The Keep It Simple package, which includes a short animated film (available online for streaming or download), a lesson plan, and supporting materials, was designed to be used with adolescents ages 15–19 to empower them to seek sexual and reproductive health care, and emphasize the availability of long-acting reversible contraception (LARCs). The materials in the package can be used together to deliver a 45 minute educational session that provides information to teens about the sexual health services available to them at local health centers, their rights to obtain those services, and how they can link to high quality and adolescent friendly sexual health care. The animation can also be used as a standalone product. All components of the Keep It Simple package are available for free and are also offered in Spanish as No te compliques.

云南西双版纳四个民族青少年品德形成研究（1980—2001）

在1980－1981年对云南西双版纳克木人、基诺族、哈尼族和拉祜族四个民族青少年品德形成调查的基础上，又于2000－2001年对上述四个民族的青少年品德进行了调查及横向、纵向的比较研究。历时20年的调查研究表明，1．四个民族对青少年的品德形成具有卓有成效的共同经验：（1）榜样；（2）宗教；（3）组织；（4）舆论；（5）教育。2．四个民族对青少年的品德教育具有十分明显的实践性。3．个人的品德有相对稳定性。     

Suicide prevention: Guidelines for schools

Adolescent suicide is escalating, especially among White male teenagers who use drugs and/or alcohol, are depressed or cognitively rigid, have maladaptive families, have experienced recent loss, misunderstand death, and know a suicide victim. Teachers can foster suicide resistance by developing teens' cognitive deterrents and encouraging adaptive coping strategies. Recommended assessment tools for potentially suicidal children and teens include the Reasons for Living Inventory and the Suicidal Behaviors Questionnaire. For teachers, intervention strategies include listening empathically, asking directly about potential suicide, and breaking confidentiality in cases of an actively suicidal child or teenager. Administratively, helpful strategies are hot lines, suicide prevention training modules, and publicity of popular students' adaptive responses to stress such as drug rehabilitation or therapy. After suicide, administrators should work to diminish survivor guilt, minimize scapegoating, and prevent contagion.

同其他高科技一样,代孕技术也是一把双刃剑,在造福人类的同时,也带来了一系列法律、伦理等问题。从代孕、代孕合同的概念、特征入手,分析了代孕的几种类型,以及其是否有违民法的一般原理和公序良俗原则,进而阐明了代孕合同的标的,分情况论述了代孕合同所生子女的亲权归属,最后得出应分情况对待代孕合同的结论。     

米索前列醇用于晚期妊娠引产的效果研究

目的探讨米索前列醇对晚期妊娠引产的有效性和安全性。方法选择有引产指征、无引产及米索前列醇使用禁忌证的单胎、头位、胎膜完整的晚期妊娠妇女103例,随机分为A组(48例,米索前列醇)和B组(55例,催产素)。结果A组与B组引产成功率分别为77.08%、72.73%。首次用药至临产时间分别为6.18h、12.3h,首次用药至阴道分娩时间分别为369.23±235.90h、430.00±211.31min,有显著性差异(P<0.05)。分娩方式、新生儿体重,两组比较,差异均无显著性(P>0.05)。结论米索前列醇用于晚期妊娠引产有效而且安全。
