Play of the unconscious in pre-service teachers’ self-reflection around race and racism

Reading psychoanalytic theory of the unconscious desire for wholeness in the light of the notion of white racial supremacy, this study explores a constituted difficulty that self-reflection around the issues of race and racism confronts by exploring three white male pre-service teachers’ emotional experiences inscribed in their responses to the process of engaging in self-reflection. The pervasiveness of strong emotional reactions to the process of engaging in self-reflection spoke volumes not only about how uncomfortable the participants felt in the face of ambivalence, incommensurability and vulnerability but also about their active resistance against their emotional states to defend their unconscious desire for wholeness that is intensified by the forces of white racial supremacy. This study also seeks to elaborate problems inherent in teachers’ self-reflection and why and how unknown and unconscious emotional world filters and at times hinders the participants’ willingness to inquire into their own relationship to race and racism. In the final section, the author discusses how the findings may be used to imagine how teachers’ unknown and unconscious emotional world can become subjective curriculum which in turn becomes a foundation for students’ learning or lack thereof and also informs the field of teacher education engaging in critical self-reflection.     

Transcription through chromatin — Link to diseases and therapeutics

The expression of chromosomal genes is regulated by posttranslational modification of both histone and nonhistone chromatin proteins and ATP-dependent remodeling of chromatin. Dysfunction of the modification and remodeling machineries can lead to several diseases, which include cancer, cardiac hypertrophy, and asthma. Many genetic diseases can also lead to malfunction of the machinery. The enzymes responsible for chromatin organization are the new targets for therapeutics. Inhibitors and activators of histone acetyltransferases and inhibitors of histone deacetylases may serve as new generation drugs.

制作了一种白色有机电致发光器件．薄层荧光染料4-（dicyanomethylene）-2-t-butyl-6-（1，1，7，7-tetramethyljulolidyl-9-enyl）（DCJTB）放在两层N，N’-diphenyl—N，N’-bis（1-naphthyl）-（1，1’-biphenyl）-4，4’-diamine（NPB）间．Tris（8-hydroxyquinoline）aluminum（Alq）和4，7-diphenyl-1，10—phenanthroline（Bphen）分别用作电子传输层和激子阻挡层，NPB用作空穴传输层．4，4’，-bis（2，2’-diphenylvinyl）-1，1’-biphenyl（DPVBi）作为蓝光发光层，quinacridone（QAD）掺杂到Alq作为绿光发光层．Bphen的厚度影响到整个器件的亮度、效率和颜色，通过调节Bphen层的厚度，可以得到相当纯正的白光，当Bphen的厚度为4nm时，其色坐标为（0．32，0．34）．

建立湖北大耳白兔种子库的研究

利用从全国范围内搜集的四个日本大耳白兔种源,建立四个基础群。封闭种群,以非近亲的循环交配方法,连续繁殖四代,对所育大耳白兔,通过统计分析其表型特征,以及对其血液学生理生化指标、体细胞染色体核型的分析。结果表明,所育4世代大耳白兔与纯种的日本大耳白兔在繁殖性能、生长性状、体尺情况及遗传性状等方面都没有显著性差异(P>0.05)。     

Wick型随机Burgers方程的自Baecklund变换和精确解

研究了随机环境中的Burgers方程，为了给出随机Burgers方程的精确解，只讨论变系数Burgers方程的系数经白噪声W（t）=B（t）扰动所得的Wick型随机Burgers方程（B（t）是Brown运动），利用齐次平衡原理和Hermite变换给出了Wick型随机Burgers方程的自Baecklund变换和随机孤立子解的精确表达式，同时也研究了一般情形的Wick型随机Burgers方程。     

Is sensitivity to rhyme a developmental precursor to sensitivity to phoneme?: Evidence from individuals with Down syndrome

This study investigated sensitivity to rhymeand phoneme among readers and nonreaders with Down syndrome (DS) and normally developingchildren. Three tasks were administered toevaluate sensitivity to rhyme and phoneme: arhyme detection task, an initial phonemedetection task, and a middle phoneme detectiontask. Results for the normally developingchildren replicated the results of previousstudies suggesting that the ability to detectrhyme is a developmental precursor of theability to detect phonemes. Although all taskswere very easy for the children who had alreadystarted to read, the nonreaders found the rhymedetection task significantly easier than eitherthe initial or the middle phoneme detectiontask. On the other hand, there was scarcelyany indication that the individuals with DSfound the rhyme detection task easier thaneither one of the phoneme detection tasks.While all tasks were very difficult for thenonreaders with DS, the DS individuals who hadalready started to read found the rhymedetection task significantly more difficultthan both the initial and the middle phonemedetection tasks.
