Four fictional views of the future of learning

We are at a critical moment in the history of human learning, and in the history of humans. Learning is very important in our future. With 6 billion people on Earth, going to 9 billion by the middle of the century, current educational systems everywhere at all levels have major problems, probably not solvable with present approaches. In many areas, little education is available. We need new learning modes and structures, and we need them quickly and globally. Creating new learning materials and systems will require great imagination. We need approaches that go beyond current situations. Learning should be greatly improved, less expensive, and available lifelong for all in all subjects. We need a society that focuses on learning, where everyone loves to learn. Solving many of the world's problems, including population, water, violence, health, and environmental destruction, will depend on improving learning. One neglected source of future ideas is fictional accounts of the future of learning. I have long found them helpful in my own thinking and have written about them before. I keep finding new sources of this kind. Some, not mentioned here, are negative views.

我国田径教练员在Internet学习环境中的自我学习与能力培养

Internet学习环境是现代社会生活中人们获取信息、自我学习、相互沟通和提高能力的重要教育环境内容.通过运用问卷调查、访谈等方法,对我国约50位国家级和高级田径教练员现阶段利用Internet学习环境进行自我学习和能力提高的状况进行调查研究.结果表明,绝大多数教练员对通过互联网进行学习与提高持肯定态度;但受主、客观多种因素的影响,Internet学习环境还未发挥其应有的作用.完善Interne学习环境需要多方长期不懈的努力.     

基于社会性软件的青少年四结合教育博客圈学习共同体的建构与实践

针对当前青少年教育、教师专业发展模式存在的问题,提出了四结合教育博客圈学习共同体的新概念,讨论了其理论基础、意义、运行机制,并且给出了一个四结合教育博客圈的案例。     

Do our engineering students spend enough time studying?

In higher education one of the most important learning goals is deep understanding. Achieving this goal needs time and effort. The authors discuss their observations of student time use on the basis of several case studies which they have conducted in the field of engineering education in Finland. The time that the students spend studying is clearly less than has been stipulated in curricula. Also other time-use studies reveal controversy between the curriculum and actual studying. The authors raise questions dealing with reasons for this problem such as is the workload too high or are the courses too easy. The observations and discussion will hopefully motivate courses to be dimensioned more realistically when taking the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) in use.

该文指出,当面临学习困境时,请客观冷静地研判你遇到的问题:也许它是学习进程中的正常现象,需要耐心磨合,慢慢适应大学教学模式;也许是你的数学能力较弱,请为自己营造一个良好的学习微环境,对相关知识做必要的、有效的取舍,以帮助自己顺利完成学业。     

Learning by explaining orally or in written form? Text complexity matters

In this experiment, we examined whether linguistic text complexity affects effects of explaining modality on students’ learning. Students (N = 115) read a high-complex and a low-complex text. Additionally, they generated a written or an oral explanation to a fictious peer. A control group of students retrieved the content. For the low-complex text, we found no significant differences between conditions. For the high-complex text, oral explaining yielded better comprehension than writing explanations. The retrieval condition showed the lowest performance. Mediation analyses revealed that the effect of explaining modality while learning from the high-complex text was mediated by the personal references and the comprehensiveness of the generated explanations. Our findings suggest that the effect of explaining modality emerges when students are required to learn from difficult texts. Furthermore, they show that oral explaining is effective as, likely due to increases of social presence, it triggers distinct generative processes during explaining.     

建构主义教学与学习评估方法的探讨

简要分析建构主义教学的特征,并从建构主义教学的角度,对目前英美等国许多大学普遍采用的大学生学习评估方法以及各种方法的利弊进行阐述和比较。同时,对提高中国高校学习评估的可靠性和有效性提出建议。     

学习设计:信息时代提高学习绩效的关键

一方面,信息的快速增长以及不断缩减的知识半衰期使终身学习成为一种生存理念;另一方面,信息时代为人们提供了丰富的学习资源和多样化的通讯交流手段。教学设计只能为人们整个学习经历中的一小部分服务;而学习设计是提高学习者学习质量和学习绩效的保证,因此学习设计概念的提出势在必行。本文从学习设计概念的界定和理论的基本假设入手,阐述学习设计的理论基础以及相关术语,文章着重论述学习设计的一般模式。
