中西文化交融与中国修辞学转型

中国修辞学从古至今曾经形成了不同的发展历程。从较深层次的视角审视,中国修辞学每一个发展阶段的转型,都是修辞理念不断转化更替的过程。按照修辞观的不同,中国修辞学可以划分为三个发展阶段。它的每一次研究转型,虽然都具有很多的推动要素,但西方文化及其学术思想的强力催化是其中不可或缺的重要因素。每当中国修辞学的发展遇到困境时,人们往往从与西方文化的交融中受到启迪,汲取其精华和营养,进行大胆的借鉴和探索,便形成中西合璧的结晶,从而引导中国修辞学研究进入了一个"柳暗花明"的发展繁荣时期。     

Serious social media: On the use of social media for improving students' adjustment to college

A considerable body of research indicates that social support plays an integral role in determining students' successful adjustment to college. Unlike previous research that has evaluated face-to-face support interventions that occur during students' first semester at college, the current study reports on a student-centered social media site designed to enhance students' perceptions of social support prior to their arrival on campus. Results indicated that site usage increased students' perceptions that they would have a diverse social support network during their first semester at college, even when controlling for other potent predictors. The importance of social support perceptions for college adjustment is detailed and the ramifications of the social media intervention are discussed.     

科举废止前后维新派“科举观”的转变及启示——以梁启超等为例

科举制度废止前后,维新派的一些领袖人物对待科举的态度发生了明显的变化,梁启超是其中的著名代表。晚清时期,他们从不同的角度对科举制度进行了批判,推动了科举制度的废止。制度废止以后,鉴于对当时社会现象以及西学了解的加深,他们对科举制度又进行了重新的合理评价。这种转变过程打上了深深的时代与个人烙印,反映了他们随着社会发展对科举制度存与废的理性思考。     

Student Success in First-Year University Physics and Mathematics Courses: Does the high-school attended make a difference?

This paper considers school factors that contribute to a successful transition from high school to first-year university Physics courses at the University of British Columbia by employing a two-level hierarchical model. It is assumed that there is a relationship between student performance and the high school they graduated from. It is shown that school location and type affect student performance: students from public schools in the Metro Vancouver area perform better in first year compared to students from independent schools and schools in distant communities. The study also considers rankings of schools based on student performance in first-year university Physics and Calculus courses. These university-based rankings differ significantly (essentially in reverse order) from the well-known Fraser Institute rankings based on measures internal to high schools.     

Hanging in or shaping a future: defining a role for vocationally related learning in a ‘knowledge’ society

This paper explores the ‘joined‐up thinking’ and attempts at ‘joined‐up working’ that policy architects recommend for the successful operationalization of the New Deal for 18–24 year olds. In particular, it examines the difficulties arising around the full‐time education and training option. The research project reports upon the ‘implementation gaps’, in particular the workings of Employment Service Personnel and College staff who strive to interpret and work within the relevant policy guidance for the New Deal for Young People (NDYP). The paper draws upon semi‐structured interviews and documentary analysis from a qualitative case study in South Wales to describe the interaction and articulation of the ‘main players’ who facilitate New Deal education and training options. Centralized and mandatory programmes like the New Deal for Young People which aims to be integrative and ameliorative, but which are framed within a strong sanctioning policy, have created tensions between those professionals trying to work in a ‘joined‐up’ manner. The guidance, educative, and social work elements which contribute to a positive learner/trainee identity are at odds with the surveillance and policing roles involved in monitoring claimant participation. FE staff who facilitate and manage the ‘New Deal’ full time education and training option emerge as a seriously challenged group, which has to forge workable and practical applications of a policy which somewhat undermines notions of a learning society and lifelong learning.

我国各类型图书馆正处在战略转型状态,这种转型的特征是数字资源的开发利用、本地服务与远程服务融合、图书馆服务与图书馆资源融合、图书馆与社区融合、图书馆权威服务与联盟合作,等等.知识产权管理是实现图书馆转型的关键问题之一.文章在调研基础上,对转型时期图书馆知识产权战略需求、战略重点、战略路径等进行探讨,提出运用知识产权推进我国图书馆战略转型的理论观点.     

Rethinking the multi-level perspective of technological transitions

In recent years numerous articles have been published which advocate a multi-level perspective (MLP) for the analysis of long-term technological transitions. This paper reviews current transitions research and considers the limitations of the MLP which need to be addressed to enhance understanding of processes of innovation affecting the transformation of technology and society. The paper suggests ways in which the MLP may be effectively rethought, based on more thoroughgoing application of a co-evolutionary concept of technological transitions.

An efficient method for parallel CRC automatic generation

The State Transition Equation (STE) based method to automatically generate the parallel CRC circuits for any generator polynomial or required amount of parallelism is presented. The parallel CRC circuit so generated is partially optimized before being fed to synthesis tools and works properly in our LAN transceiver. Compared with the cascading method, the proposed method gives better timing results and significantly reduces the synthesis time, in particular.
