A theory of change for student-led academic integrity

Breaches in academic integrity are a pervasive and enduring international concern to the overall quality of higher education. Despite students being the group most affected by academic integrity policies, organisational culture is such that students tend to be passive recipients of change initiatives, rather than the drivers. To deliver a paradigm change, a theory of change framework was designed, implemented and applied to explore the viability of a student-led academic integrity society. To achieve this, a national research project involving three stages of data collection (surveys, interviews and focus groups) was conducted to obtain the perspectives of students and student representatives. The key outcome of the project has been the recent launch of an academic integrity student society, a novel initiative outside the United States of America. The theory of change framework presented here seeks to offer guidance to other institutions contemplating the viability of student-led change to academic integrity and the establishment of academic integrity student societies, in particular.     

Oppositional codes: The case of the penitentiary of New Mexico riot

Understanding of the 1980 riot at the Penitentiary of New Mexico can be improved by emphasizing how language congealed into two distinct codes—one belonging to inmates, the other to prison administrators—that provided their respective users with diametrically opposed views of the world and ways of acting upon it. A code‐based analysis of the riot attempts to overcome some of the shortcomings of both agency‐based and structuralist accounts by stressing the dynamics of agency and structure within code opposition. By so doing, the analysis offers critical diagnostic tools for communication analysts and conflict mediators who may be called upon to intervene in social situations where agents appear to be locked intractably in oppositional conflict.     

Developing Engaging Learning Experiences in Preservice Education

Abstract

Opportunities to learn how to develop engaging learning experiences are vital for preservice teachers. This article describes an in-class modeling activity, provides assignment guidelines, and includes examples of candidates' completed tasks when developing technology-integrated instruction using Quick Response (QR) codes. The content of participants' (n?=?75) tasks were analyzed for complexity following the SAMR model (Pnuentedura 2013 Pnuentedura, R. 2013. SAMR: An EdTech quintet perspective. Most candidates enhanced instructional experiences (73%), while others transformed them (27%) by developing engaging collaborative experiences that culminated in students creating a product using technology tools. Observations revealed that candidates appreciated learning how QR codes could be used to make learning experiences more engaging. Candidates showed a willingness to use their own smart devices for learning purposes. Aligning appropriate curriculum content standards with assigned tasks was achieved by all participants.     

LiMn_(1.8-x)Co_(0.2)Cr_xO_4的合成和电化学性能

以柠檬酸作为螯合剂,通过溶胶-凝胶法合成尖晶石型锂离子电池正极材料LiMn1.8-xCo0.2CrxO4并用XRI和SEM表征其微结构,利用电化学测试考察材料的电化学性能.测试结果表明,所合成的材料具有完整的尖晶石结构,Cr3+的掺入并不会导致材料相结构的变化,说明Cr3+(d3)以替代形式进入尖晶石结构并替代八面体骨架中的Mn3+(d3).Cr3+对Mn位的掺杂使材料主体结构得到了稳定且具有很好的充放电平台.     

Ce~(3+)在Pt/nanoTiO_2-CNT电极上的电催化氧化

以电合成前驱体Ti(OEt)4直接水解法和电沉积法制备Ti基纳米TiO2-碳纳米管复合膜载P(tPt/nanoTiO2-CNT)复合电极。透射电镜(TEM)和X射线衍射(XRD)测试表明,锐钛矿型纳米TiO2粒子和Pt纳米粒子(粒径约8nm)均匀地分散在碳纳米管表面。通过循环伏安法研究Pt/nanoTiO2-CNT电极对Ce3+的电催化性能,Ce3+氧化峰电位约为1.27V(vs.SCE),比Pt/nanoTiO2电极负移30mV,峰电流约高45mA·cm-2。     

商法地位问题的历史分析

传统商法仅仅是历史上欧洲这一特定地区在缺乏统一的中央集权国家,政治经济权力(利)分散于国王、封建领主、教会几大势力,封建割据长期存在这一特定环境下的独特产物,其封闭性和特殊性在纳入国家法的体系后逐渐丧失;但是学者的视野又没能拓展到民法、商法之外,这是后来民商合一与分立之争长期难成定论的历史根源与主要原因.经济法现象和思潮出现后,这一问题终于得到圆满解决:传统商法中民法不能容纳的部分正是经济法的重要内容之一,而商法从实质上已经完成了自己的历史使命,最终实现了由"民间法"向"国家法"的完全融合.在当代国家的法律体系中,"商法"这一概念仅具形式上的意义.
