Heterogeneity in the educational impacts of natural disasters: Evidence from Hurricane Florence

In September 2018, Hurricane Florence caused widespread and extended school closures throughout North Carolina. Leveraging variation within schools over time, we explore heterogeneity in the impact of hurricane-related schooling disruption on students’ end-of-grade test scores. Impacts were not concentrated on students performing at the lowest levels in the prior year nor on those from the most disadvantaged backgrounds. Rather, the estimates suggest that most students experienced small declines in test performance irrespective of baseline human capital or demographic group.

本文主要针对国内武器装备目前环境试验室集成度低等弊端进行了分析,由此提出了一种武器装备环境试验室网络化建设的设想,通过"网络技术+数据库"实现试验的统一管理及控制的技术升级换代,可逐步在大范围内实现信息共享,将试验及设计进行紧密的锲合,最终为提高设计质量及可靠性提供有效的帮助。     

Toward Cranfield-inspired reusability assessment in interactive information retrieval evaluation

Re-using research resources is essential for advancing knowledge and developing repeatable, empirically solid experiments in scientific fields, including interactive information retrieval (IIR). Despite recent efforts on standardizing research re-use and documentation, how to quantitatively measure the reusability of IIR resources still remains an open challenge. Inspired by the reusability evaluations on Cranfield experiments, our work proactively explores the problem of measuring IIR test collection reusability and makes threefold contributions: (1) constructing a novel usefulness-oriented framework with specific analytical methods for evaluating the reusability of IIR test collections consisting of query sets, document/page sets, and sets of task-document usefulness (tuse); (2) explaining the potential impacts of varying IIR-specific factors (e.g. search tasks, sessions, user characteristics) on test collection reusability; (3) proposing actionable methods for building reusable test collections in IIR and thereby amortizing the true cost of user-oriented evaluations. The Cranfield-inspired reusability assessment framework serves as an initial step towards accurately evaluating the reusability of IIR research resources and measuring the reproducibility of IIR evaluation results. It also demonstrates an innovative approach to integrating the insights from individual heterogeneous user studies with the evaluation techniques developed in standardized ad hoc retrieval experiments, which will facilitate the maturation of IIR fields and eventually benefits both sides of research.     

湖北省羽毛球运动员认知特征的比较研究

以湖北省90名羽毛球运动员和在校大学生为研究对象,研究不同运动水平受试者安静状态下心理认知指标特征。结果表明:运动水平相对较高的羽毛球运动员体现出较好的认知能力。     

文学理论课程的自动组卷系统设计

本文设计的文学理论课程自动组卷系统是针对文学课程考试的具体需求,以文学理论考前出题为开发背景,设计与实现了一个能满足日常教学需要的自动组卷系统。实践证明,本系统的开发与使用可以有效地提高组卷的效率,并做到更加客观和合理。     

Social and dimensional comparisons in math and verbal test anxiety: Within- and cross-domain relations with achievement and the mediating role of academic self-concept

The present study builds on two strands of research: (1) the recently established generalized internal/external frame of reference (GI/E) model assuming social (comparing one’s achievement in one domain with the achievement of one’s peers in the same domain) and dimensional (comparing one’s achievement in one domain with one’s achievement in another domain) comparison processes in the formation of motivational constructs and self-perceptions, and (2) research on domain-specific facets of test anxiety. Using a sample of 5135 German seventh grade students, it is tested whether and how both comparison processes are involved in the formation of domain-specific facets of test anxiety when considering both the emotionality and worry components of test anxiety, and whether the relation between achievement and test anxiety is mediated through academic self-concept. When applying the GI/E model to test anxiety, the results showed negative relations between achievement and test anxiety within math and verbal (German) domains, but partially positive relations across domains. This pattern of relations emerged for both the worry and emotionality components while stronger achievement relations were found for worry. These findings indicate that dimensional achievement comparison processes operate in the formation of domain-specific test anxiety. Domain-specific academic self-concepts were found to mediate the relations between achievement and test anxiety within and across domains, the mediation being stronger for worry than for emotionality as an outcome. Boys and girls did not differ regarding direct and indirect relations among constructs. Implications for research on dimensional comparison processes and test anxiety are discussed.

大学生篮球技能测试方法改革的实验研究

采用文献法、访谈法、观察法、专家法以及实验法,制定了“篮球技能比赛测试法”。该方法体现了篮球运动固有的集体性、竞争性、对抗性、游戏性、灵活多变性和技术全面性等特点,与广大学生平时篮球活动的内容方式紧密结合,比目前高校普遍采用的单一的篮球技能测试具有更好的可靠性、有效性和客观性,更加节省时间和体现对学习过程的评价,因此能更好地引导广大学生通过篮球运动进行健身娱乐并形成相应的能力和习惯。
