近几年,地方党委、政府换届工作中拉票贿选现象日益凸显且屡禁不止。究其原因是多方面的,主要是民主选举制度存有缺陷,权力运行缺乏制约,贿选法律惩罚缺乏刚性,民主选举监督机制缺失。防治拉票贿选的有效措施在于创新民主选举方法,改进民主管理制度,健全贿选惩罚法律,完善民主监管机制,加强民主法制教育。     

Encouraging Students to Seek Help: Supplementing Office Hours with a Course Center

Abstract. Too often students who obviously need help in a course choose not to seek help, with predictable consequences. In an effort to encourage our students to get help, we supplemented our regular office hours with a course center, a one- or two-hour block of time in which help was available from us away from our offices. Because students can be intimidated by meeting individually with instructors and because students cannot always articulate their questions "on the spot," we hoped that the course centers, held in a location where students could interact with each other in addition to the instructor, would promote interactions conducive to seeking help. We present results from a survey that compared and contrasted student views of course centers versus office hours, and discuss positive aspects of the course center as well as potential limitations.     

Beyond Consultation: A New Model for Librarian's Office Hours

ABSTRACT

Given the many changes in our students and their study and research practices, libraries are finding it necessary to seek new ways to reach these students. The Undergraduate Library at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign created a new model to do so. Librarian's Office Hours are a hybrid of reference and instructional services that fulfill the dual purposes of meeting the needs of term paper research counseling and library workshops. This article discusses the strategies involved in the creation and implementation of this service and examines suggestions for the future of such a service.     

Adapting an Embedded Model of Librarianship,College by College

Librarians are increasingly moving out of the library and into the wider university setting as patrons spend more time seeking information online and less time visiting the library. The move to embed librarians in colleges, departments, or customer groups has been going on for some time but has recently received more attention as libraries work to find new ways to reach patrons that no longer need to come to the physical library. Few universities have attempted to embed all their librarians. This case study describes how one group of health sciences librarians dispersed its professional staff throughout its campuses and medical centers.
