Theme and prose comprehension: Understanding or depth-of-processing?

Context orientation and depth of processing were tested as possible explanations for thematic organization. In the first experiment, the process of searching for the theme of concrete versions of prose passages by undergraduates was detrimental to subsequent recall. On the other hand, theme statements facilitated recall when provided prior to concrete as well as abstract versions of each passage. Finally, the theme search process with the abstract versions was beneficial only when the correct theme was identified. A second experiment provided further data supporting the comprehension hypothesis for theme organization when precise, instructor-generated theme statements were used instead of learner-generated themes.     

The influence of decision factors on what is reported in free recall of a brief narrative

In recent research on memory for prose, attention has focused on the influence of a reader's perspective or schema on what is encoded and subsequently recalled. Previous research has revealed that subjects were able to recall previously unrecalled information if they were directed to take a new perspective during a second recall trial. This has been termed the perspective shift effect. This paper describes two possible mechanisms to account for the perspective shift effect—a retrieval process and a decision process. Two experiments which investigated the roles of these processes in the perspective shift effect are described. Experiment 1 employed an incentive to influence the subjects' criterion for reporting recalled information. Experiment 2 obtained separate estimates for decision and memory processes by applying signal detection theory. The results of both experiments provide data that tend to rule out the decision process as an important factor in the perspective shift phenomena in recall.

万有引力常数G的精确测量

采用长周期、高Q值的扭秤,并选择恒温、隔振、电磁屏蔽以及外界引力干扰小的实验环境,从而有效克服传统扭秤实验中扭丝的滞弹性和热弹性等影响,采用扭秤周期法在 1 0 5× 1 0 - 6相对精度上测量万有引力常数G。为了进一步提高G的测量精度,还系统研究了精密扭秤实验的各种系统误差及其对G的影响

研究了给定小素数pf-值对有限群构造的影响,给出了pf-值为小素数时,这类群的完全分类,其结果为:有限群G的pf-值为1,则G同构于C2或C3;pf-值为2,则G同构于C4,C5,C7或C2×C2.交换群G的p卜值为3,则G同构于C6,C9,C3×C3或C2×C2×C2c2.

裸蒴属营养器官的解剖及其分类位置的研究

本文通过对三白草科 saururaceae 裸蒴属 Gymnotheca Decne．  营养器官的解剖和观察，发现该属和三白草属Saururus L.、蕺草属 Houttuynia Thunb. 有明显的区别，而同胡椒科Piperaceae 的齐头绒属 Zippelia Bi．则有许多相似的特征。因此我们认为该属和齐头绒属同为三白草科和胡椒科的中间过渡类型。     

贵州卷柏属(卷柏科)一新种——习水卷柏

描述了贵州卷柏属一新种,即习水卷柏Selaginella xishuiensis G. Q. Gou & P. S. Wang。新种与蔓出卷柏S. davidii Franch.在体态和大小方面相近,但叶缘具睫状毛而不同;新种在体态上也与地卷柏S. prostrata H. S. Kung相似,但孢子叶一型而不同。
