But according to The Economist in 1999 it is finished - killed off by the remarkable capacity of information technology to analyse, trace and re-assemble personal data: affording an unprecedented insight into individual attitudes and activities. Based on the progress made in implementing the OECD Guidelines on Privacy (1980), the author, who chaired the OECD group that devised those Guidelines, reviews their impact, the need to update them and contemporary proposals for new privacy protections suitable to the current technologies. This paper describes a method, using Genetic Programming, to automatically determine term weighting schemes for the vector
space model. Based on a set of queries and their human determined relevant documents, weighting schemes are evolved which
achieve a high average precision. In Information Retrieval (IR) systems, useful information for term weighting schemes is
available from the query, individual documents and the collection as a whole.
We evolve term weighting schemes in both local (within-document) and global (collection-wide) domains which interact with
each other correctly to achieve a high average precision. These weighting schemes are tested on well-known test collections
and are compared to the traditional tf-idf weighting scheme and to the BM25 weighting scheme using standard IR performance metrics.
Furthermore, we show that the global weighting schemes evolved on small collections also increase average precision on larger
TREC data. These global weighting schemes are shown to adhere to Luhn’s resolving power as both high and low frequency terms
are assigned low weights. However, the local weightings evolved on small collections do not perform as well on large collections.
We conclude that in order to evolve improved local (within-document) weighting schemes it is necessary to evolve these on

A two-stage method is developed to solve a new class of multi-storage tank multi-source (MTMS) systems. In the first stage, the optimal storage policy of each tank is determined according to the electricity tariff, and the ground-level storage tank is modeled as a node. In the second stage, the genetic algorithm, combined with a repairing scheme, is applied to solve the pump scheduling problem. The objective of the pump scheduling problem is to ensure that the required volume is adequately provided by the pumps while minimizing the operation cost (energy cost and treatment cost). The decision variables are the settings of the pumps and speed ratio of variable-speed pumps at time steps of the total operational time horizon. A mixed coding methodology is developed according to the characteristics of the decision variables. Daily operation cost savings of approximately 11% are obtained by application of the proposed method to a pressure zone of S. Y. water distribution system (WDS), China. 相似文献

调查了湖南怀化市沅陵县230名父母均系瓦乡人而彼此无血缘关系学生的ABO、Rhesus、P、MNSs四种红细胞血型系统的血型.结果表明,ABO系统中的基因频率r(0.6325)>p(0.2221)>q(0.1464);MNSs系统中的基因频率m(0.5196)>n(0.4804)、s(0.9848)>S(0.0152)、Ms(0.4902)>Ns(0.4576)>MS(0.0272)>NS(0.0228);Rhesus系统中CCDee表型最常见(57.83%),CDe单倍型频率较高(0.7588),而cDe频率(0.0207)较低;P系统中P1基因频率为0.1391.湖南瓦乡人的红细胞血型分布具有我国南方民族的特点.与云贵高原周边其他8个民族之间的遗传距离比较表明,湖南瓦乡人与湖南土家族的遗传距离最近而和贵州的仡佬族最远. 相似文献

The genetic diversity and relationship among 40 elite barley varieties were analyzed based on simple sequence repeat (SSR)
genotyping data. The amplified fragments from SSR primers were highly polymorphic in the barley accessions investigated. A
total of 85 alleles were detected at 35 SSR loci, and allelic variations existed at 29 SSR loci. The allele number per locus
ranged from 1 to 5 with an average of 2.4 alleles per locus detected from the 40 barley accessions. A cluster analysis based
on the genetic similarity coefficients was conducted and the 40 varieties were classified into two groups. Seven malting barley
varieties from China fell into the same subgroup. It was found that the genetic diversity within the Chinese malting barley
varieties was narrower than that in other barley germplasm sources, suggesting the importance and feasibility of introducing
elite genotypes from different origins for malting barley breeding in China. 相似文献
