当代网络文化中流行的表人新名词及其理据

当代网络文化之繁荣,孕育出形形色色的网络新名词。作为对日趋细化和多元人群的客观称谓和个性描述,表人的流行新名词在音形义等方面独具特色,或直接借用外来词,或灵活创造新词语,或赋予旧词以新义。表人的流行新名词既根植于社会生活,又深深地烙上了时代的印记,更忠实地映射出当今社会人们多姿多彩的生活方式和多元化的价值取向,有着深刻的言内外因素和文化心理理据。表人的新名词在生成和传播过程中也必须经受“汰弱留强”和“适者生存”等自然生态法则的检验,除了遵循语言发展规律和满足交际的现实之需,还有待大众传媒等方方面面予以包容和理性引导。     

Building collaborative structures for teachers’ autonomy and self-efficacy: the mediating role of participative management and learning culture

This study focused on the collaborative structure-building behavior of school principals and examined how such behavior affects teacher empowerment. More important, it tested the mediating effects of participative management and learning culture. By collecting nested data from 104 schools in Hong Kong and adopting multilevel structural equation modeling, we found that teachers’ sense of autonomy and self-efficacy were correlated at the individual level but were independent at the school level. The effect of building collaborative structures on teachers’ self-efficacy was mediated by both participative management and learning culture, whereas the effect on autonomy was mediated by participative management only. The findings contribute to the literature in at least 2 ways. First, the inclusion of both principal leadership and school-level factors provides more refined predications of teacher empowerment. Second, the testing of the theory-grounded hypotheses in an Asian society verifies the validity of certain cultural assertions about this region.

‘Being in the World’: The event of learning

This paper employs an eclectic mix of paradigms in order to discuss constituting characteristics of young children's learning experiences. Drawing upon a phenomenological perspective it examines learning as a form of ‘Being’ and as the result of learners’ engagement with the world in their own, unique, intentional manners. The learners’ intentions towards their world are expressed in everyday activity and participation. A social constructivist perspective is thus employed to present learning as situated in meaningful socio‐cultural contexts of the everyday, lived world and as a form of participation in those settings. These characteristics of learning are brought together into a holistic, synthesised model, a Gestalt of learning. The proposed synthesis has relevance for and is applicable to educational contexts as a means of making sense of children's learning experiences and of promoting and facilitating them.

The properties of potassium silicate/ fly ash slurry used in the conservation of adobe structures

The work reported here is a systematic study to evaluate the compatibility of using PS-F (potassium silicate with high modulus – fly ash) slurry in the conservation of adobe structures. Firstly, the optimum mixing proportion (0.47) was determined by flow meter. Then the experimental program was divided into two parts: one part studied changes in physical and mechanical properties with increase in setting time by means of the measurement of moisture content, compressive and flexural strength, elastic-wave velocity, density, and porosity; the other part studied the durability of PS-F slurry through temperature and humidity cycles, freeze–thaw cycles, water stability, tensile testing, and alkali resistivity tests. The results show that the consolidation process with the slurry can meet the requirements of conservation applications and provide a timely anchoring force, and the slurry and soil mass of adobe-based structures have good compatibility in physical and mechanical properties. In addition, the slurry can strongly resist freeze–thaw cycles, temperature-moisture cycles, and tensile stress and has a relatively weak resistance to alkali solutions and water immersion. In conclusion, PS-F with a mixing ratio of 0.47 is a suitable slurry for conservation of adobe structures.
