Game-based learning can have a positive impact on medical education, and virtual worlds have great potential for supporting immersive online games. It is necessary to reinforce current medical students' knowledge about radiological anatomy and radiological signs. To meet this need, the objectives of this study were: to design a competition-based game in the virtual world, Second Life and to analyze the students' perceptions of Second Life and the game, as well as to analyze the medium-term retention of knowledge and the potential impact on the final grades. Ninety out of 197 (45.6%) third-year medical students voluntarily participated in an online game based on self-guided presentations and multiple-choice tests over six 6-day stages. Participants and non-participants were invited to perform an evaluation questionnaire about the experience and a post-exposure knowledge test. Participants rated the experience with mean scores equal to or higher than 8.1 on a 10-point scale, highlighting the professor (9.5 ± 1.1; mean ± SD) and the virtual environment (8.9 ± 1.1). Participants had better results in the post-exposure test than non-participants (59.0 ± 13.5 versus 45.3 ± 11.5; P < 0.001) and a lower percentage of answers left blank (6.7 ± 8.4 versus 13.1 ± 12.9; P = 0.014). Competitive game-based learning within Second Life is an effective and well-accepted means of teaching core radiological anatomy and radiological signs content to medical students. The higher medium-term outcomes obtained by participants may indicate effective learning with the game. Additionally, valuable positive perceptions about the game, the educational contents, and the potential benefit for their education were discovered among non-participants.  相似文献

学习者英汉平行语料库为情态动词等中介语研究提供了两个考察视角,即中介语视角和相应的学习者母语视角。以情态动词“must”为例,从中介语视角考察,通过检索自建的学习者英汉平行语料库,发现中国英语学习者较多使用情态动词“must”的义务情态意义及其序列,认识情态意义及其序列的使用频率则相对较少且错误较多。从学习者母语视角考察既包括分析与情态动词“must”相对应的汉语部分,也包括检索汉语“必须”这一情态表达的相应英语。调查发现,双语转换时母语思维对英语情态动词“must”的习得有影响,但并不显著,对相关情态动词或情态性的运用掌握不足可能是更重要的原因。调查展示了学习者英汉平行语料库对中介语研究的巨大潜能。  相似文献

In H.264, computational complexity and memory access of deblocking filters are variable, dependent on video contents. This paper proposes a VLSI architecture of deblocking filters with adaptive dynamic power, which avoids redundant computations and memory accesses by precluding the blocks that can be skipped. The vertical and horizontal edges are simultaneously processed in an advanced scan order to speed up the decoder. As a result, dynamic power of the proposed architecture can be reduced adaptively (up to about 89%) for different videos, and the off-chip memory access is improved when compared to previous designs. Moreover, the processing capability of the proposed architecture is in particular appropriate for real-time deblocking of high-definition television (HDTV, 1920× 1080 pixels/frame, 60 frames/s video signals) video operation at 62 MHz. Using the proposed architecture, power can be reduced by up to about 89% and processing time by from 25% to 81% compared with previous designs.  相似文献

A systematic approach to the analysis of sporting events is discussed. The basic tenet is that objective quantification of critical events is required for a complete analysis. This approach encompasses diverse areas of methodology and research, such as quantification, biomechanics and physiology. The theoretical underpinnings are behavioural, in so far as athletes produce observable behaviour that can be quantified and ultimately changed. In Japan, the mobile phone has become an increasingly popular medium of accessing the Internet and e-mail, especially among those who may not have affordable access to a computer. The lower startup costs and the easier overall accessibility of mobile phones relative to personal computers suggest that the mobile phone may be a possible alternative for overcoming unequal access to information communication technology in Japan and elsewhere. Using microdata from 2001, we compare and contrast the determinants of mobile versus computer-based Internet in Japan. Our findings show that mobile Internet access, as compared to computer access, is determined less by demographics, socioeconomic status, and technological readiness, suggesting that barriers to Internet access are lower for mobile phones than is the case for computers.  相似文献
