首屏时间会影响用户对网站的体验和使用。文章对我国84个科学数据共享网站的首屏时间进行了测试,揭示了此类网站首屏时间的总体现状,并使用PageSpeed找出影响首屏时间的主要因素,提出应在使用浏览器缓存、将图片组合为CSS贴图定位、优化图片、启用文本压缩四个方面改进网站性能,缩短网站首屏时间。     

Long live the scientists: Tracking the scientific fame of great minds in physics

This study utilizes global digitalized books and articles to examine the scientific fame of the most influential physicists. Our research reveals that the greatest minds are gone but not forgotten. Their scientific impacts on human history have persisted for centuries. We also find evidence in support of own-group fame preference, i.e., that the scientists have greater reputations in their home countries or among scholars sharing the same languages. We argue that, when applied appropriately, Google Books and Ngram Viewer can serve as promising tools for altmetrics, providing a more comprehensive picture of the impacts scholars and their achievements have made beyond academia.

对大连市历史学相关文献产出的计量分析,应用文献信息可视化技术绘制大连市历史学研究文献的科学知识图谱。从计量结果来看,大连市历史学文献产出的分布呈逐年上升的趋势,特别是2000年以来出现急剧增长的态势。历史学文献的高产单位主要是以辽宁师范大学、大连大学等为代表的高等院校。历史学研究的知识图谱展现了大连市历史学研究的前沿和热点问题,主要包括地方史、人物史等方面。     

DC元数据年会综述（2012）

文章详细介绍了都柏林核心元数据组织（DCMI）2012年年年会情况与特点,也总结了历届年会的历史沿革与变化,并通过重点介绍年会交流中如主旨发言等内容,阐述了在元数据生态环境变化背景下,DCMI应如何拓展思路,应对未来发展路径的难题。文章还通过笔者对DCMICEO和CIO等关键人物的访谈,介绍了DCMI这一年的工作成绩与今后的发展方向思考,也介绍了DCMI以元数据设计模式、词表映射和词表长期保存为主的工作方向。最后笔者提出了中国的元数据社区的专业人士应如何应对发展路径的思考以及如何对国际元数据界作出贡献的思路。     

Video as Digital Object: Production and Distribution of Video Content in the Internet Media Ecosystem

The media industry is undergoing comprehensive change due to the shifting audience and consumption patterns fostered by the diffusion of the Internet. This article describes how these changes shape established practices of video production and redefine the cultural categories of video and broadcasting. Drawing on an empirical case study of the practices within the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the we show the production of video content to be increasingly unbundled and broken down into several smaller processes, which make it possible to manage and recompose in a variety of ways that transcend established institutional divisions and cultural perceptions. At the same time and as a means of accommodating multiplatform content delivery, video distribution is acquiring flexible and mutating formats that further destabilize the perception of video as a self-sufficient cultural form. In this context, video metadata rises to be an important coordinative medium that provides the cognitive resources for identifying and managing video content within and across particular settings and the link through which the operations of media organizations become entangled with the technical landscape of the Internet.     

Social Dynamics of an On-Line Scholarly Debate

This article focuses on different means of constructing a scholarly on-line debate related to the field of science, technology, and society. The study shows how scientific interactions are reproduced in a new medium while, simultaneously, some users take advantage of new possibilities offered by the medium. The first section analyzes how the debate emerged, was constructed, and subsequently revealed the heterogeneity of goals and ideas among the participants. The second section discusses the practices that the participants explored to make the debate evolve. Two attitudes, identified as strategic and tactical, were observed. The tactical practices were to enable the emergence of a sense of community. From this perspective, the way some participants sustained mobilization and stimulated participation are analyzed. The strategic attitude is illustrated through the behavior of those who tried to be the leaders in the debate.     

Memories of the Khyriv school kept alive by its students: sources and methodological contexts

ABSTRACT

The Scientific and Educational Department of the Jesuit Fathers in Khyriv (Zak?ad Naukowo-Wychowawczy OO. Jezuitów w Chyrowie) existed for 53 years (1886–1939). Over 6,000 students studied in this elite male school. The alumni of the secondary school belonged to the elite of Polish society. There were among them people from different walks of life. The Chyrów school must have been a special place for its students, because they preserved its memory for dozens of years. Some of them immortalised their reminiscences in their memoirs. Basing on the preserved source materials, I will try to reconstruct the memory of the school, its past – ambience and climate, as well as relations between students and between students and teachers. The preserved documents may allow us to unveil other less formal sides of the school life about which there is no evidence in the official sources.
