Hemolysis of erythrocytes from human and porcine blood was studied at different calcium chloride (CaCl2) concentrations (0.04–1.83 mM) and at a constant bilirubin concentration (72 mM). Although, human erythrocytes showed significant
hemolysis (64%) at the highest CaCl2 concentration (1.83 mM) used in this study, remarkable resistance to this phenomenon was observed with porcine erythrocytes
as only 11% hemolysis was observed. A similar pattern in the behavior of both human and porcine erythrocytes was observed
when parameter such as bilirubin concentration or time of incubation with bilirubin was varied. Other divalent cations such
as Mn2+, Ba2+ and Mg2+ were either least effective or ineffective in inducing hemolysis in presence of bilirubin. Serum albumin played a protective
role in this phenomenon in a concentration dependent manner, as no hemolysis was observed at a bilirubin/albumin molar ratio
of 1:1 or less. Differences in the structural make-up of proteins and lipids in the erythrocyte membranes of the two species

Alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency is a hereditary disease leading to hepatitis and cirrhosis. It is the most common genetic cause
of liver disease in children which must inherit the tendency from both parents to develop. It acquires the highest priority
in the differential diagnosis in a child with chronic liver disease. In this case report we substantiate the role of serum

目的:观察补充胆红素对不同负荷运动造成的肝细胞凋亡的影响,为运动营养补剂的研发,减少运动性损伤提供一定的实验依据.方法:以53只健康雄性SD大鼠为研究对象,随机分成7个组,即安静对照组、中等负荷运动组、中等负荷运动+胆红素组、大负荷运动组、大负荷运动+胆红素组,力竭运动组、力竭运动+胆红素组,通过实验检测肝细胞凋亡情况,测量肝组织SOD的活性和MDA含量.结果表明:力竭运动和大负荷运动能诱导大鼠肝细胞凋亡增加;补充胆红素使其肝细胞凋亡率降低,说明胆红素能提高机体抗氧化能力. 相似文献

运用问卷调查法、以及实验室检测法,了解了男子大学生长跑运动员的营养知识水平,其日常训练期的营养素摄入水平,以及与营养摄入有关的血液的生化指标。结果显示,多数运动员的营养知识较为传统。在日常训练期,运动员体内的碳水化合物的摄入不足,维生素A摄入量低,且血清钙水平很低,血清铁与TIBC的含量正常,建议:通过营养强化,注意合理补充蛋白质、碳水化合物、维生素、钙,并且要定时地对其进行营养生化检测以帮助提高男子大学生运动员的营养水平。 相似文献

Serum creatinine (SCr) levels are frequently used as a screening test to assess impaired renal function; however, patients
can have significantly decreased glomerular filtration rate (GFR) with normal SCr values and making the recognition of kidney
dysfunction more difficult. Hence, this study was designed to determine the extent of misclassification of the patients who
have significantly reduced GFR as calculated by reexpressed four variable modification of diet in renal disease (MDRD) equation
but, normal range of SCr. The study included 1040 in and out patients referred by physicians for serum creatinine measurement.
When an exclusion criterion was applied 928 patients were qualified for the study. SCr was measured in 928 patients by a Roche
kinetic compensated Jaffe’s assay. GFR was calculated using reexpressed four variable MDRD study equation. Of the 928 patients
270 (29.1%) had renal dysfunction on the basis of eGFR (<60 ml/min/1.73 m2). However, with SCr only 162 (17.5%) patients had abnormal renal function (>1.5 mg/dl) and SCr values misrepresented (108)
11.6% patients with impaired kidney function. In addition, more females, about 15% were failed to detect by SCr method in
contrast to males of 9%. This study documented that, a large proportion of patients with impaired renal function are not diagnosed
if clinicians rely solely on normal SCr as evidence of normal renal function. Inclusion of eGFR calculated by re-expressed
4 variable MDRD equation may facilitates the early identification and intervention of patients with renal impairment. 相似文献

Errors in laboratory medicine occur in the preanalytical, analytical, and postanalytical phases. The errors are mostly detected in the preanalytical period. However, analytical errors are still an important source of error, despite their frequency is reduced significantly in years thanks to developments in laboratories. In this case, an analytical error was noticed during the verification of a patient’s results. The direct bilirubin of a 66-year-old male patient admitted to the emergency department was higher than the total bilirubin. The patient’s symptoms were fatigue and dyspnoea. Albumin and haemoglobin (Hb) concentrations of the patient were significantly low. After considering the patient’s demographics and laboratory results, the laboratory specialist suspected a paraproteinemia interference. Total protein was performed as a reflective test. The albumin/globulin ratio was reversed. Thereafter, serum protein electrophoresis (SPEP) and immunofixation electrophoresis (IFE) were performed as another reflective tests, respectively. SPEP and IFE results were in favour of monoclonal gammopathy. The patient was directed to a haematologist, underwent a bone marrow biopsy, and the result was reported as Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia with plasma cell differentiation expressing IgM-Kappa. The patient went on a chemotherapy protocol, and his condition has been improved in subsequent months. Detection of analytical errors is of great importance, like in our case, and may be used as a tool to identify patients who have not yet been diagnosed. The laboratory specialist must dominate the entire process of each test in the laboratory, be aware of the limitations of tests, and turn these disadvantages into advantages when necessary. 相似文献

To determine the normal range of Hemoglobin and cutoff values in healthy adults of Southern India, blood samples were analyzed for parameters of RBC and iron metabolism in 177 male and 203 female medical students. The data were compared with the American white population (NHANES III) and the WHO criteria for detection of anemia. The mean values for hemoglobin and hematocrit in male students differed minimally from American white males. However, values for parameters of iron metabolism were lower except total iron binding capacity (TIBC) which was higher. In female students, hemoglobin, hematocrit and parameters of iron metabolism were lower than American white females, except TIBC which was higher. Lower 5th percentile cutoff point (Mean − 1.645 SD) in males and females were 13.5 and 10 g/dl respectively. In conclusion, South Indian adult males have Hb values similar to American male adults, but South Indian females have considerably lower Hb levels than American females, raising the questions about appropriateness of WHO or US criteria for detection of anemia in Indian females. 相似文献

The progress of fracture union requires close monitoring. Whereas, clinical examination and radiographic studies assess the
outcome, biochemical markers like serum alkaline phosphatase and urinary hydroxyproline reflect the actual status of bone
resorption and bone formation over a short time frame. 36 patients of long bone fracture were randomly allocated for the study.
When the patient reported to the Department of Orthopedics after fracture, serum and urinary samples were collected and X-ray
of the affected part were taken. Subsequent samples were collected and X-ray taken just after management (either operative
or conservative), after 3rd, 5th, 8th and 12th week, respectively after onset of fracture. According to the course of callus
formation the patients were divided into two groups that progressed to proper union or malunion. The levels of serum alkaline
phosphatase, urinary total and free hydroxyproline levels were measured and statistically analysed and compared. A statistically
significant positive correlation between total urinary hydroxyproline excretion and serum alkaline phosphatase indicate progress
towards satisfactory union. Thus, serial monitoring of biochemical markers of bone turnover can be used as an adjunct to clinical
and radiological evidence of fracture healing. 相似文献

本文研究了9名备战十运会的中长跑运动员冬训期间生理生化指标的变化规律,以监控训练。结果显示,冬训大运动量训练期,男、女运动员的血红蛋白、血尿素、血清肌酸激酶、睾酮等指标均出现了不同程度的变化,经过适度调整以后逐渐恢复。从而表明,选择适宜指标对运动员进行机能监控,对于保持其最佳运动状态,提高运动成绩,有着重要的意义。 相似文献
