A methodological review of systematic literature reviews in higher education: Heterogeneity and homogeneity

The field of higher education research has bourgeoned in the past decades, addressing a wide range of topics. Being in a rapidly expanding and interdisciplinary field of research, higher education scholars have demonstrated exigency for aggregating research findings to map the research landscape, identify future research directions, and bridge the research-practice divide. In this connection, systematic literature reviews have been carried out to consolidate research findings. With a proliferation of systematic literature reviews in higher education, the aim of this meta, methodological review is to provide a state-of-the-art systematic literature review methodologies in the field of higher education. Adhering to the exploratory nature of this study, this review analyses systematic literature reviews published in 16 top-tiered international journals in higher education (n = 160). Through qualitative research synthesis using thematic analysis and informed by grounded theory, a methodological framework comprising six stages and 20 steps is developed, which might help to instigate methodological dialogue between researchers when it comes to conducting systematic literature reviews. A handy checklist for conducting and evaluating systematic literature reviews in higher education is created.     

A review of the use of a systematic observation method in coaching research between 1997 and 2016

A systematic observation method has been one of the most popularly employed methods in coaching research. Kahan’s review of this method conducted between 1975 and 1997 highlighted the key trends in this research, and offered methodological guidance for researchers wishing to use this method in their research. The purpose of this review was to provide an update of the use of a systematic observation method in coaching research and assess the extent to which the calls made by Kahan have been addressed. While in some respect this field of study has progressed (i.e., the introduction of qualitative methods), researchers adopting this method have failed to attend to many of the issues Kahan raised. For this method to continue to make a positive contribution towards the coaching research literature, researchers need to more critically reflect on how and why they are employing this method. At present, some of the decisions made by researchers who have conducted work in this area are not justified with a rationale. It is our intention that this review will serve as guidance for researchers and practitioners, and editors and reviewers of journals when attempting to assess the quality of this type of work.     

The what,when, and how of preservice teachers and literacy across the disciplines: A systematic literature review of nearly 50 years of research

To organize nearly five decades of research regarding teacher preparation in literacy across the disciplines, this study systematically examined and qualitatively synthesized the what, when, and how of the research, resulting in three overarching categories: (a) perceptions, (b) resistance, and (c) experience. Key findings include that when preservice teachers receive instruction through coursework and practicums, their perceptions toward providing literacy instruction in future teaching contexts became more positive. However, researchers often measured such instruction's effect upon content-area literacy courses in the short term, rarely exploring future classroom implementation. Additionally, recommendations for practice and implications for future research are given.

石油炼制－氮肥生产污水二级生化处理时对CODcr,BOD5,石油类，挥发酚等污染物的降解效果是好的，但对氨氮（NH3－N）的降解效果就较差，培养降解的NH3－N两个菌种，用于炼油一氮肥生产污水的硝化处理，获得显著效果。     

Dieulafoy病166例内镜诊治体会

目的:探讨新的胃镜技术应用于Dieulafoy病的诊治价值。方法:总结166例Dieulafoy病的诊治经过并通过文献分析。结果:166例患者经胃镜确诊,并在胃镜监测下喷洒止血药及使用镍钛合金钛钳钳夹止血成功。结论:胃镜是诊断Dieulafoy病的主要手段,而内镜监测下喷洒止血药,联合镍钛合金钛钳钳夹止血是行之有效的方法。     

看守所未成年在押人员的心理评估及矫治——以浙江省杭州市看守所为例

准确了解和及时掌握看守所未成年在押人员的行为特征和心理状态,以便采取有针对性的矫治措施,是做好未成年在押人员的监管与矫正工作的重要保障。从对杭州市看守所的调研来看,随着未成年在押人员的认知水平、价值观念等日趋复杂,传统的把握其心理状态的方法已明显不足。鉴于此,杭州市看守所针对未成年在押人员的心理评估方法进行积极探索与实践,并在此基础上提出有针对性的矫治措施。
