On the Move: Technology, Mobility, and the Mediation of Social Time and Space

The current explosion in mobile computing and telecommunications technologies holds the potential to transform "everyday" time and space, as well as changes to the rhythms of social institutions. Sociologists are only just beginning to explore what the notion of "mobility" might mean when mediated through computing and communications technologies, and so far, the sociological treatment has been largely theoretical. This article seeks instead to explore how a number of dimensions of time and space are being newly reconstructed through the use of mobile communications technologies in everyday life. The article draws on long-term ethnographic research entitled "The Socio-Technical Shaping of Mobile Multimedia Personal Communications," conducted at the University of Surrey. This research has involved ethnographic fieldwork conducted in a variety of locales and with a number of groups. This research is used here as a resource to explore how mobile communications technologies mediate time in relation to mobile spaces. First the paper offers a review and critique of some of the major sociological approaches to understanding time and space. This review entails a discussion of how social practices and institutions are maintained and/or transformed via mobile technologies. Ethnographic data is used to explore emerging mobile temporalities. Three interconnected domains in mobile time are proposed: rhythms of mobile use, rhythms of mobile use in everyday life, and rhythms of mobility and institutional change. The article argues that while these mobile temporalities are emerging, and offer new ways of acting in and perceiving time and space, the practical construction of mobile time in everyday life remains firmly connected to well-established time-based social practices, whether these be institutional (such as clock time, "work time") or subjective (such as "family time").

要提高学生的练琴效率,首先,应培养学生良好的练琴方法;其次,应使学生在掌握良好练琴的方法的基础上养成勤奋练琴的习惯。在勤奋的基点上逐步达到熟练的程度,最终由“熟”而生出“巧”。     

Relationships between changes of kernel nutritive components and seed vigor during development stages of F_1 seeds of sh_2 sweet corn

The changes of kernel nutritive components and seed vigor in F1 seeds of sh2 sweet corn during seed development stage were investigated and the relationships between them were analyzed by time series regression (TSR) analysis. The results show that total soluble sugar and reducing sugar contents gradually declined, while starch and soluble protein contents increased throughout the seed development stages. Germination percentage, energy of germination, germination index and vigor index gradually increased along with seed development and reached the highest levels at 38 d aider pollination (DAP). The TSR showed that, during 14 to 42 DAP, total soluble sugar content was independent of the vigor parameters determined in present experiment, while the reducing sugar content had a significant effect on seed vigor. TSR equations between seed reducing sugar and seed vigor were also developed. There were negative correlations between the seed reducing sugar content and the germination percentage, energy of germination, germination index and vigor index, respectively. It is suggested that the seed germination, energy of germination, germination index and vigor index could be predicted by the content of reducing sugar in sweet corn seeds during seed development stages.

1955年前苏联电影《梅丽小姐》以莱蒙托夫《当代英雄》中同名篇章改编而成.在忠实于原著的前提下,导演安宁斯基将原作中的日记片段重新编排,将作为电影表现手法的内心独白同莱蒙托夫的创作意图融合,揭示主人公毕巧林的内心世界和他无情的自我分析,突出莱蒙托夫文学创作中“孤独的帆”的主题,是文学名著改编电影中“忠实性改编”的范例.     

基于时序关联分析的PageRank改进算法研究

搜索引擎是互联网资源搜索的入口,搜索的快捷性、准确性是搜索引擎的核心竞争力,如何提高竞争力是业内企业的工作重点。已有的搜索引擎算法中,最具代表性的就是PageRank算法,针对该算法的改进方法也有很多,但效果并不很理想。分析了已有PageRank改进方法的不足,立足于用户搜索行为信息挖掘,采用时序关联分析方法,将关联比例作为权值加入到PageRank计算公式中,改变平均分配权威值的计算方法,从而得到了改进的PageRank算法——TCPR算法,使得搜索排序结果更符合用户的信息需求。     

Sports gambling as consumption: Evidence from demand for sports lottery

Although the fact that sports lottery has become a prevalent phenomenon, it remains an under-researched area in sport management literature. Based on Conlisk's (1993) theory on the utility of gambling, an econometric model of demand for sports lottery gambling was constructed. The model assumes an experiential utility associated with sports lottery gambling, and proposes that rational consumers are mainly motivated by product attributes and marketing variables. The model is empirically examined by using a set of draw-to-draw sales data of a sports lottery in China. Time series analyses were conducted to analyze the determinants of sports lottery demand. This study revealed that ticket composition had considerable impact on the demand after partialling out information through the inclusion of an ex-post Prediction Difficulty Coefficient in the regression model. Eight percent of variance in the demand for sports lottery was found to be associated with ticket composition variables. The results provide additional evidence to the existing literature on sports gambling as consumption. The notion that nonmonetary activities associated with sports lottery gaming have a consumption value has considerable implications in terms of designing lottery products and delivering value to its consumers.
