The case control study was conducted to quantify the amount of the carcinogenic tobacco specific nitrosamine in smokeless tobacco users and smokers in patients with oral leukoplakia and also to emphasize the role of tobacco-specific nitrosamine in the incidence of oral leukoplakia. The study was conducted on 30 patients. The urine samples were obtained from smokeless tobacco users with oral leukoplakia, smokers with oral leukoplakia and non-tobacco users (i.e. people who do not use tobacco in any form). The collected samples were processed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. A highly significant difference of NNAL[4-(methylnitrosamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanol] in smokeless tobacco users than tobacco smokers P = 0.0002 (Table 1) was obtained. This significant difference shows smokeless tobacco is more carcinogenic than smoked tobacco. This study confirmed that NNAL is a potent biomarker for calculating the risk of occurrence of carcinoma in smokeless tobacco users and smokers, and that smokeless tobacco is more harmful than smoked tobacco.  相似文献

目的:探讨尿纤维连接蛋白(fibronectin,Fn)与上尿路移行细胞癌的生物学关系。方法:采用ELISA法检测30例上尿路移行细胞癌、25例其它泌尿系疾病患者及20例正常人尿液Fn含量,并同时测定尿肌酐(Creatin,Cr),计算Fn/Cr比值,比较各组人群尿Fn/Cr比值之间的差异;分析不同肿瘤分期、分级尿Fn/Cr之间的差异;比较其与尿脱落细胞学检测上尿路移行细胞癌的敏感性。结果:上尿路移行细胞癌尿Fn/Cr比值为(46.4±26.5)mg/mol,明显高于正常人(14.7±8.8)mg/mol及其它泌尿系疾病患者(28.2±22.7)mg/mol。以34mg/mol为标准,尿Fn/Cr比值诊断上尿路移行细胞癌的灵敏度和特异度分别为73.3%和77.8%。尿Fn/Cr比值与上尿路肿瘤分期分级有关。尿脱落细胞学检测上尿路移行细胞癌的敏感性为53.3%,采用Fn/Cr检测较脱落细胞学检查敏感性无统计学意义(P>0.05)。结论:尿Fn/Cr可作为上尿路移行细胞癌的诊断指标。其高低与膀胱癌的分期、分级有关,可大致判断浸润度和恶性度,并可用于上尿路移行细胞癌的预后评估。  相似文献

Diabetic nephropathy is a major cause of end stage renal disease. Increased excretion of albumin has widely been recognized as an early manifestation of diabetic nephropathy particularly in subjects with diabetes mellitus. However, certain other proteins besides albumin may be excreted in high amount during early phase of diabetic nephropathy. The serum and urinary IgG, Glycosylated hemoglobin, fructosamine and glycosylated IgG were evaluated in the present study. Thirty-two patients of Type 2 Diabetes without any complications, thirty-one patients of Type 2 Diabetes with nephropathy, twenty-six patients of non-diabetic nephropathy and forty normal healthy individuals were enrolled in this study. Subjects were grouped based on their serum creatinine level. Serum IgG, glycosylation of IgG and urinary IgG excretion were increased significantly in diabetic patients compared to healthy controls, which were further increased significantly in chronic renal failure patients with respect to the clinical stage of nephropathy. A positive correlation was observed between glycosylation of IgG and IgG excretion (R2=0.5995, 0.7114 respectively) in diabetic patients without any complications and diabetic nephropathy patients only, suggesting a significant role of IgG glycosylation in the vascular clearances of IgG during diabetic nephropathy.  相似文献

IntroductionThe intraindividual variability in urinary creatinine excretion is notoriously large. The aims of this study were to investigate the variability of duplicate consecutive 24-hour urinary creatinine excretions in patients and to develop a model for the detection and correction of discrepant creatinine excretions.Materials and methodsA group of 270 patients (82 men and 188 women) were included in the study. We collected the following data: urinary 24-hour volumes (volumetric/gravimetric) and urinary creatinine concentrations (Jaffé/enzymatic) on both collection days. We performed specific calculations to detect discrepant creatinine excretions.ResultsIn 60 patients (22%) discrepant collections were found. Among the remaining 78%, 22% of the patients collected very accurately (almost identical urinary creatinine excretions). In this subgroup the volume ratios and the creatinine concentration ratios behave inversely as in a dilution curve. A theoretical model and six collection scenarios were developed to detect, interpret and correct discrepant collections. Practical examples are given to illustrate the use of the model in successful correction of creatinine and other analytes for under- or overcollection.ConclusionsWe conclude that missed or overcollected urine volumes are the largest source of variation in creatinine excretion. Discrepancies in consecutive duplicate 24-hour creatinine excretions can be detected and corrected with specific calculations by means of the presented model. The effectiveness of these corrections is demonstrated with examples from daily practice. These calculations can be easily automated.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of lead exposure on systolic and diastolic blood pressure, heme biosynthesis related and hematological parameters of automobile workers. For this study 30 automobile workers were selected and compared with 30 age matched healthy control subjects. Significantly increased blood lead (364%, P < 0.001) and urinary lead (176%, P < 0.001) levels were observed in automobile workers (study group) as compared to controls. Systolic blood pressure (5.32%, P < 0.05) and diastolic blood pressure (5.87%, P < 0.05) were significantly increased in the automobile workers as compared to controls. The significantly decreased non-activated erythrocyte δ-aminolevulinic acid dehydratase (δ-ALAD) (−18.51%, P < 0.01) and activated δ-ALAD (−13.29%, P < 0.05) levels were observed in automobile workers as compared to normal healthy control subjects. But the ratio of activated/non-activated δ-ALAD was significantly increased (43.83%, P < 0.001) in automobile workers as compared to controls. Excretions of δ-aminolevulinic acid (83.78%, P < 0.001) and porphobilinogen (37%, P < 0.001) in urine were significantly increased in the study group as compared to the controls. In automobile workers heamoglobin (−11.51%, P < 0.001), hematocrit (−4.06%, P < 0.05), mean corpuscle volume (−3.34%, P < 0.05), mean corpuscle hemoglobin (−5.66%, P < 0.01), mean corpuscle hemoglobin concentration (−7.67%, P < 0.001), red blood cell count (−14.6%, P < 0.001) were significantly decreased and total white blood cell count (11.44%, P < 0.05) increased as compared to the controls. The results of this study clearly indicate that the absorption of lead is more in automobile workers and it affects on blood pressure, heme biosynthesis and hematological parameters observed in this study group.  相似文献

Human urine gives evidence of the metabolism in the body and contains numerous organic acids and other compounds at a variety of concentration. The concentration of organic acids in urine varies from population to population due to genotype, food habits and other epigenetic and environmental influences. Knowledge of the reference values for urinary organic acids in a healthy pediatric population is very important for critical evaluation. This study was designed to quantify 16 organic acids in a healthy north Indian pediatric population. Early morning urine samples from healthy pediatric subjects of age 1 day to 16 years who did not have symptoms of any disease were analyzed for organic acid content. The children were not on any supplemental vitamins or drugs and were on a free and unrestricted diet. The creatinine concentration of each sample was determined before organic acid analysis. Organic acids were extracted from urine with ethyl acetate, extracted residue was air dried, converted into trimethylsilyl derivatives and analysed by gas chromatography mass spectrometry. Here we reported the age wise mean values and standard deviations for each compound, adjusted for creatinine content (mmol/mol of creatinine). We found the concentration of most of the metabolites are higher in our population in comparison to other populations. Such data may help to provide a basis for diagnosing metabolic abnormalities in patients in a specific ethnicity.  相似文献

目的通过统计与分析泌尿系统感染性病原菌的构成比,评价其检测方法,为有效地控制医院感染提供参考依据。方法查阅近年来国内医药类核心期刊等杂志上报道的相关数据,进行统计学处理与综合分析。结果所分析的11种病原菌是泌尿系统感染性常见病原菌,其中以大肠埃希菌的构成比最高;培养检查法是诊断泌尿系统感染的金标准。结论大肠埃希菌是医院感染最常见的条件致病菌,需认真加以控制。对其他病原菌的控制也不容忽视。培养检查法是诊断泌尿系统感染的金标准,不可用其他方法取代。  相似文献

Lead is one of the most widely scattered toxic metals in the environment and used by mankind for over 9,000 years. Lead in the environment may be derived from natural or anthropogenic sources. In humans, lead can cause a wide range of biological effects depending upon the level and duration of exposure. The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of lead exposure on systolic and diastolic blood pressure, serum calcium, ionized calcium, phosphorus, parathyroid hormone and vitamin D and examine the overall effect of all these parameters on the bone mineral density of battery manufacture workers. For this study ninety battery manufacture workers were selected and divided in three groups depending upon duration of lead exposure. Group I—workers with duration of lead exposure 1–5 years, Group II—workers with duration of lead exposure 6–10 years and Group III—workers with duration of lead exposure more than 10 years. Each group consisted of thirty workers. Thirty age matched healthy control subjects were taken for comparison. Demographic, occupational and clinical data were collected by using questionnaire and interview. The venous blood samples were collected from the study groups and normal healthy control group. At the time of blood collection random urine samples were collected in amber coloured bottles. The biochemical parameters were estimated by using standard assay procedures. Statistical analysis of the data was done using independent student‘t’ test for parametric variables. Values were expressed as mean ± standard deviation (SD). P values of 0.05 or less were considered to be statistically significant. The blood lead levels and urinary lead levels of all workers were significantly increased (P < 0.001) in proportion to the duration of lead exposure as compared to controls. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure were significantly raised (P < 0.001) in all three study groups of battery manufacture workers as compared to controls. Serum Calcium, Ionized calcium, phosphorus were significantly decreased (P < 0.001) in all the three study groups. Serum vitamin D levels were lowered (P < 0.01) and serum PTH was increased (P < 0.01) in workers as compared to controls. The results of this study clearly indicate that the absorption of lead is more in these workers which adversely affects blood pressure, disturbs calcium and phosphorus metabolism which further impairs mineralization of bone resulting in decreased bone mineral density observed in these workers. Lead toxicity is still persistent in battery manufacture workers though they are using sophisticated techniques in these industries. There is a need to protect the workers from the health hazards of occupational lead exposure.  相似文献

Fluoride content was measured in 100 urinary stones retrieved by open surgery of stone formers admitted at PGIMS Rohtak and their respective urine and serum and compared with those of healthy individuals. The concentration of fluoride was also measured in the sources of drinking water of these stone formers. The concentration of fluoride was definitely significantly higher in serum (p>0.01) and highly significantly higher in urine (p>−0.001) of stone formers compared to those of healthy individuals. The content of oxalate in serum and 24 h urine of the stone formers was also measured, which was increased significantly (p<0.005 and p<0.001) compared to healthy individuals. The concentration of fluoride was probably significantly higher in drinking water of these stone formers than the normal ones. There was a positive correlation between the content of fluoride of urinary stones and urine of stone patients (r=.88); stone and serum (r=.62); drinking water and stone (r=.85) and their urine and serum (r=.54); urine and drinking water (r=.83) and serum and water (r=.51). These results indicate a definite role of fluoride in urinary stone formation.  相似文献
