平行语料库检索软件SDAU-ParaConc设计与实现

当代语言研究离不开语料库,对语料库的检索需要计算机软件支持,但平行语料库检索软件数量极少,且存在不符合中国国情的情况。因此,有必要开发一款符合中国国情、适应大数据检索需求、减少语言研究中重复劳动的平行语料库检索软件。在考察现有4款平行语料库检索软件,对比分析它们各自的优势及不足后,结合中国国情及语言研究实践经验,提出了新的平行语料库检索软件SDAU-ParaConc设计理念。介绍了SDAU-ParaConc的实现方式与特点。与之前的软件对比结果表明,SDAU-ParaConc操作步骤平均简化了60%,检索效率平均提升了9.5%。     

Phonological Awareness Skills in Young Boys with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

Substantial research has detailed the reading deficits experienced by children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Although phonological awareness (PA) is vital in reading development, little is known about PA in the DMD population. This pilot study describes the PA abilities of a group of five young children with DMD, comparing the results with those of a group of children with spinal muscular atrophy and with those of a group of typically developing children. The Preschool and Primary Inventory of Phonological Awareness was used to assess the PA skills of the participants. Results indicated that the children with DMD performed significantly poorer than the typically developing group on tests of Syllable Segmentation, Rhyme Awareness, Alliteration Awareness and Phoneme Isolation and significantly poorer than the spinal muscular atrophy group on Rhyme Awareness. The findings of this pilot study indicate that children with DMD may have an increased risk of having PA difficulties, thus requiring early PA training.     

Rotenone induces more serious learning and memory impairment than α-synuclein A30P does in Drosophila

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a heterogenous disease caused by multifactorial etiology. PD is characterized by the loss of dopaminergic (DA) neurons in the substantia nigra and the accumulation of Lewy bodies. In this study, two Drosophila PD models by exposing Drosophila to rotenone (sporadic PD models) are proposed, and the human α-synuclein A30P protein (family PD models) in Drosophila is expressed respectively. Both models recapitulated the main human PD symptoms including the loss of dopaminergic neurons...     

Children’s Memory: A Primer for Understanding Behavior

This paper provides the opportunity to understand children’s behavior from a memory viewpoint. For the last three decades, cognitive developmentalists have been asking the question, “what develops in children’s memory?” Four answers to this question are presented, complete with explanations, examples, and possible applications where appropriate. The purpose of the paper is to provide early childhood educators and other practitioners who work with children a different lens through which to view children’s behavior. The memory view is compatible with current best practices in early childhood education, and may provide practitioners an additional viewpoint from which to draw when implementing developmentally appropriate practice.
