An Investigation of How Culture Shapes Curriculum in Early Care and Education Programs on a Native American Indian Reservation

This article investigates how culture shapes instruction in three early care and education programs on the Flathead Indian Reservation. Interviews with eight early childhood teachers as well as classroom observations were conducted. The investigation is framed by the following research question: How does the culture of the family and community shape curriculum? Data analysis suggested that ongoing communication with parents and community about teaching within a culturally relevant context, building a sense of belongingness and community through ritual, and respecting children, families, and community were essential to defining the Native American Indian culture within these early learning programs.

中国高校女教师队伍发展的现状分析

This paper examines the changing status of women faculty through an analysis of statistics on China’s universities from 1994 to 2004. This paper first presents the trend of a drastic increase in women faculty members in recent years. Further details on the academic ranks of women faculty, their age and highest degrees obtained are also presented. A comparison of female representation in faculty ranks is made between China and a few selected countries. Lastly, this paper attempts to account for the low percentage of female professors in higher education. Recommendations for the professional development for women faculty are made in the end.      

1990～2012年北部湾经济区土地利用程度变化分析

通过对1990～2012年北部湾经济区土地利用结构的变化分析,运用土地利用程度指数模型以及土地利用程度变化模型统计了各地区土地利用程度的时空变化特征及其区域差异。结果表明,1990～2012年北部湾经济区土地利用程度大幅度提升,增加了43.22个百分点,但土地利用程度分布格局并未发生太大变化;土地利用程度变化量及其变化率均大于0,土地利用处于发展期;在自然条件的限制下,区域内部土地利用程度差异较大。

学校环境知觉、自我评价对青少年学校满意度的预测作用

为考察学校情境下的环境知觉、自我评价对青少年学校满意度的影响,采用感知的学校气氛、一般自我概念和学校满意度问卷对320名初中生进行调查,结果表明：初中生学校环境知觉、自我概念与学校满意度呈中等程度显著相关;发展多样性、学习压力、师生关系以及自我概念显著预测学校满意度;环境知觉对学校满意度的方差解释率相对较高,得到了青少年对学校环境知觉和自我评价分别对学校满意度具有显著预测作用的结论。
