高校党史学习教育中不忘初心、牢记使命长效机制建设

在党史学习教育中建立完善不忘初心、牢记使命制度和长效机制,有利于高校坚持正确的办学方向,夯实为党育人、为国育才的思想根基。抓实抓深抓好“关键少数”、强化高校基层党组织组织力建设和持续强化全体党员理想信念教育等建设内涵,进一步提出了完善理论学习机制、促进党建工作并全面融入中心工作的机制、创新考核评价机制等建设路径,推动形成高校不忘初心、牢记使命长效机制。     

角色与使命:大学发展战略规划中领导的作用

随着现代大学日益庞大复杂,大学发展愈加需要战略规划的设计与安排。就大学领导的作用而言,凡是成功的战略规划都离不开优秀大学领导的指引与管控。从某种角度而言,大学领导的角色扮演和使命承载是其在战略规划工作中作用发挥的重要考量依据。如何寻求合理的角色定位、如何提升领导个人素养、如何承担好使命重任的同时还能防止其缺失和异化,这都是大学战略规划科学、有效开展的求解命题。     

身体美学的哲学审视

在20世纪的身体理论研究浪潮中,美学家舒斯特曼在实用主义哲学的基础上提出建立"身体美学"这一学科。美学和哲学共同的使命都是指导人们追求美好的生活,身体美学理论和实践相结合的特点正是与哲学诞生之初的品质相契合的,身体美学是以身体关怀为中心,身体美学的成立有利于哲学根本使命的完成,也给当前只注重理论思辨的哲学和美学界带来了活力。

SUMMARY

JSTOR has become a standard offering at most U.S. universities and colleges, as well as a growing number of higher education institutions outside the U.S. This paper will track the growth of JSTOR since its inception in 1995 as an experimental digitization project to today as an archive of over 500 scholarly titles in 40 disciplines. We will consider the two threads of JSTOR's mission-to safeguard titles in a digital form, and to provide access to them as broadly as possibleand assess the value the project has provided to the academic community. In addition, there will be some discussion of future directions and challenges for JSTOR.     

The Antecedents of the Market Orientation in Higher Education

ABSTRACT

Colleges appear to be more eager and willing than ever to adopt a market orientation given declining enrollments and the downsizing that many are experiencing. Yet, the factors which foster and produce a market orientation have not been well defined in previous research. This study examines three antecedents of the market orientation within the context of higher education: institution size (student enrollment), source of funding (public/private), and institutional innovativeness. While the findings indicate that all three have some effect on adoption of a marketing orientation, innovativeness overwhelmingly plays the largest role. The implications for administrators as well as directions for future research are discussed.     

Crossing the binary line: the founding of the polytechnic in Colonial Hong Kong

Using the case of the Hong Kong Polytechnic (HKP), this paper examines academic drift in colonial settings. The HKP, like polytechnics in the UK, was supposedly a service sector institution. Under the binary system in the UK, schools in the service division were governed by the state educational bureaucracy, while the universities – the autonomous sector – were under the University Grants Committee (UGC). When the HKP was being founded, however, it became an institution under the UGC of Hong Kong. This article argues that the HKP could cross the binary line because a polytechnic unsubordinated to the local colonial state would be more serviceable to external agents’ interests. This finding suggests that researchers of academic drift – who have hitherto studied exclusively sovereign nations and the impacts of internal factors – should also examine the cases in dependent territories as well as the effects of external influences on such shifts.     

Environmental Improvement: The Economic Aspects

In this study, the authors examine the mission statements of 136 zoos in the United States that the American Zoo and Aquarium Association (AZA) has accredited, and report on the predominant themes of education and conservation in the statements. To explore the relation between these two themes, the authors present a literature review of the roles and purposes of zoos and discuss how the literature compares with the roles and purposes of zoos as found in the zoo mission statements. They conclude that with more than 134 million visitors a year, zoos are in a unique position to provide environmental education and conservation education to large numbers of people.     

Our Social Work Imagination

Abstract

The aim of this article is to present the case for social work, the case that the old truths and fighting spirit of an earlier day-our social work imagination-live on, even in the face of uncaring economic forces and resurrected punitiveness. Sustained by an idealism as old as humankind, members of the profession continue to advocate for the poor, the sick, and the oppressed.     

文化育人:大学的文化使命——兼论苏州职业大学"吴文化园"的定位和作用

大学的文化使命应明确指向教育的根本宗旨——育人。大学文化通过建构、内化、升华的作用完成育人的过程。凝练精神文化、培育学术文化、建设制度文化、打造物质文化、倡导行为文化等是进行大学文化建设、履行文化育人使命的重要途径。对高职院校而言,坚持大学文化建设,从地方传统优秀文化中汲取养分,将可以在“文化育人”方面有所作为。苏州市职业大学的“吴文化园”即已成为学校文化育人的标志性载体。     

采准巷道动压下围岩控制技术

分析了东荣二矿17#煤层采准巷道动压形成原因及响应影响因素,通过对该矿原有支护方案下动压巷道的围岩变形观察,分析了动压影响规律,针对17#煤层采准巷道动压的安全掘进提出了合理的支护方案,通过现场工业实验得到了理想的控制效果,进一步说明了动压巷道的支护关键所在。
