Computer self-efficacy of university faculty in Lebanon

Faculty use of technology is a critical issue in higher education; administrators and students are expecting faculty instruction to incorporate technology in classroom and distance education. Competition is demanding technologically proficient graduates for schools and colleges. Research indicates that computer self-efficacy (CSE) may be one determinant of who uses technology and who does not. A survey of education faculty at the Lebanese University in Beirut, Lebanon, conducted in 2006, revealed varying degrees of CSE; of 127 respondents, 14 had low levels of CSE; 68 were at a moderate level, and 45 self-evaluated themselves to have high CSE. Although other barriers may deter the implementation of technology in teaching, strategies and techniques for increasing CSE should be developed. For those with low CSE, special attention must be given to enhancing their levels of CSE.

建立"工学互动组合教学团队",是从根本上解决目前"双师型"教师队伍建设困境的一种新思路.从组织形式和运行模式上来界定"双师型"教学团队,更利于校企紧密合作.强调以"企业本位"思考高职教育内容,以"学校教育"(而非"企业训练")开展高职教育活动,培养有灵性、有修养、有技能、善创新的个性化人才是校企合作的利益共生点.只有在校企双方利益共生共存中寻找行动策略,才能实现高职院校教学活动的"职业性"特征.     

Research on evaluation model for interactive classroom enabled with mobile terminals

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has improved education widely in China, transforming traditional teaching into an interactive one. It is important to build a new evaluation model to measure teaching efficiency in an “ICT-enabled classroom”. This study designed an evaluation model named “TPOCME Deep classroom” through ongoing five iterations. It includes six dimensions, which are higher-order Thinking, classroom Participation, Openness of educational system, Cooperative learning, Meaningful learning and Effectiveness of technology use (named TPOCME). This model helps educational researchers and teachers gain a comprehensive understanding of ICT in education.     

论高校学分制教学管理的改革

学分制作为一种教学管理制度,在我国各高校广泛应用已多年。本文宏观论述实施学分制过程中课程管理、教师管理、学生管理的同步改革措施,并力图结合本校实际做法作进一步阐述其着眼点,教学管理改革在于建立一种行之有效的运行机制。     

Silent pedagogy and rethinking classroom practice: structuring teaching through silence rather than talk

Classroom observations are an important source of information about teaching and about the practice of particular teachers. The paper considers the value placed on talk as opposed to silence in this context and suggests that a cultural bias towards talk means that silence is commonly perceived negatively. The paper is based on a qualitative research study involving interviews with 25 teacher participants. These participants identify different types of silence and report how they use various silences in the classroom, suggesting that many different types of silence may be used productively in teaching and learning. The paper provides examples of questions that might be asked when observing teachers' uses of silence rather than talk. It concludes by proposing that classroom observations should take into account the complex skills of ‘silent pedagogy’ where the teacher makes conscious decisions to abstain from intervention based on continuous sensitive readings of the learning environment.     

Transforming the College through Technology: A Change of Culture

In this article we address the implementation of sustainable technological change among the faculty, staff, and students in the College of Education and Human Services at a mid-western urban institution. We examine cultural factors common to institutions of higher education and then describe particular planning and implementation processes employed at one institution to move faculty and staff from a state of minimal technology use to one of substantial technological competence over a period of years. The process turns out to be robust and stable despite growth over time. We conclude with recommendations for other educational institutions facing similar needs for cultural change in the use of technology. James A. McLoughlin has been Dean of the College of Education and Human Services at Cleveland State University since 1995 and Interim Provost from 2000 to 2001; he received his Ph.D. in Special Education from the University of Arizona. Lih-Ching Chen Wang is a Fulbright Scholar. She is currently an Associate Professor of Education in the Department of Curriculum and Foundations at Cleveland State University. Her work focuses on the integration of technology into teacher education. She holds a Ph.D. in Instructional Technology from Kent State University. William A. Beasley is a Professor of Education who specializes in Educational Technology and runs the Center for Teaching Excellence at Cleveland State University. He holds an Ed. D. in Gifted Education from the University of Georgia.

在介绍顾桥顾北矿13-1煤首采面综合地表移动观测站设计的基础上,重点介绍采用GPS技术进行平面连接测量的基本作业流程,内容包括观测方案的设计、基线解算及外业观测质量的检核、GPS网空间平差及质量评价、GPS网平面坐标系统转换及转换后的质量评价等4个方面,对于高程连接测量的作业流程也进行了简略介绍。对于连接测量过程中涉及到的数据处理分析模型,以参考文献的方式给出。     

高职高专大学英语教师发展的现状及其途径

高校教师专业化是高等教育发展的必然要求。调查结果显示,河南省高职高专大学英语师资队伍状况不甚理想。教师发展是加强师资队伍建设的根本途径。英语教师需要增强专业发展意识,明确专业发展目标,树立先进的教学理念,培养高尚的职业道德,加强教学反思和自觉学习,提高科学文化素养和英语教学能力。学校需要建立结构优化、素质优良的教学团队;创建学习型组织;加大能与基于网络技术下的大学英语教学模式相适应的教学设施建设力度;加大校本培训力度。     

提高高校师资队伍整体素质的路径思考

提高高校师资队伍整体素质，必须进一步深化人事制度改革，建立健全约束与激励机制；把师德建设放在首位，加强对青年教师培养；与时俱进，强化对中青年教师培训；高度重视师资梯队建设，切实发挥骨干教师头雁作用；加强团队学习，积极构建学习型组织。
