Defining and navigating ‘action’ in a Participatory Action Research project

ABSTRACT

While the ‘action’ portion of a Participatory Action Research (PAR) project is a crucial component of the process, action tends to be challenging to define, achieve, and measure. The current paper both defines and describes action within the context of a particular PAR collaboration and explores the process and challenges of navigating and implementing action in a PAR project. The specific PAR project detailed in this paper was executed within a higher education setting and involves a group of undergraduate women co-researchers studying their experiences in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields.     

车辆工程专业应用型本科生实践能力培养研究

车辆工程专业本科生通过理论学习、专业实验、生产实习和毕业论文等实践环节,使学生具备从事轨道车辆设计、制造、检修、运用等方面的能力。但是,目前重理论,轻应用的现状不符合当下培养应用型本科生的目标。将车辆工程专业本科生的实践能力分为5个一级指标和15个二级指标,利用模糊综合评判方法对其进行综合评价,计算出学生的实践能力综合评价值。在此基础上,找到影响本科生实践能力的主要因素,给出更加合理的改进意见,进一步提高学生的综合实践能力。     

浅谈大学生心理健康教育

大学生心理健康教育是促进大学生全面发展、提高人才培养质量的重要途径和手段。本文通过对大学生在社会适应、自我认知、人际交往等方面存在的心理冲突进行分析，提出了对大学生进行心理健康教育的措施。

The role of academic developers in embedding high-impact undergraduate research and inquiry in mainstream higher education: twenty years’ reflection

Abstract

The focus of this article is on the role of academic developers in supporting and influencing undergraduate research and inquiry, a high-impact activity. We examine the levels at which academic developers can influence undergraduate research and inquiry practices by distinguishing between staff and student practices; disciplinary and departmental practices and policies; institutional practices and policies; and national and international practices and policies. Drawing on our experiences over the last 20 years, we discuss the widening of academic development practice and consider who are the academic developers when it comes to embedding undergraduate research and inquiry in mainstream higher education.
