Contradictions of time in collaborative school research

The sustainability of research-based innovations in schools is constrained not only by systemic institutional barriers and inherent contradictions between schooling and research, but also by the related issue of time. This case study suggests that relative timescales, e.g., the collective activity of schooling over decades versus the individual actions of researchers over semesters or years, hinder the coordination and synchronization of schooling and research processes. Using cultural–historical activity theory and heterochrony, this analysis of data from a 4-year collaborative school-university research and development project suggests that, in spite of active support from school personnel, temporal conflicts undermined research activity and the sustainability of the innovation. At the same time, when researchers aligned their actions with the actions and timescales of school personnel, core elements of the innovation were appropriated into school practice.

Educational Research for Policy and Practice in Japan – With Particular Reference to Youth Education

Based upon the Fundamental Law of Education, Japanese school education system has long been a source of pride for the country as a result of the high school participation rate, the homogeneity of compulsory education throughout the country. However, the confidence of the people in its schools is now showing severe signs of strain and fatigue. In recent years, there have been many reports about the growing seriousness of a number of educational problems having to do with young people in their childhood and adolescence. Since the mid-1970s, a number of problems have been highlighted. They include violent behavior, juvenile crimes, bullying, refusal to attend school, dropping out at secondary level of education, and corporal punishment. Against the above background, based on recommendations from such advisory bodies as the Central Council for Education and the National Commission on Education Reform, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) has adopted a range of policies and launched a series of educational reform programmes. For instance, what is called “Rainbow Plan”, based on the final report submitted by the National Commission on Education Reform, provides the country with basic guidelines for the educational reform in the near future. Roles of educational research for making policies have been of significance. Research initiated by the National Institute for Educational Policy Research (NIER) and the National Federation of Educational Policy Research Institutes (NFERI) is an example of contributions to the development of educational qualities in the country. 我国民俗文化的现状分析

作为当前社会发生急剧变迁的结果,民俗文化在此背景下出现了程度不同、内容复杂的变迁;作为被开发的对象,民俗文化尽管创造了一定的经济价值,但受到的破坏远远大于保护;作为被保护的对象,民俗文化受到的关注还处在大造声势的阶段,保护口号远远多于实际的措施,但已经表现出充满希望的前景.     

中介语类型分析在二语教学中的启示

中介语理论将二语习得的着眼点从最初的母语与目的语的差异到后来的语言自身功能系统,转到目前的学习者语言系统这个动态过程。这一过程,不仅建立在学习者所掌握的对目的语有限的知识的基础上,而且还包括对本族语知识的认识。它是第二语言学习者创造性地建立"特有的一种过渡语言系统"。文章通过对二语教学中中介语类型的初步分析,提出了二语教学中文化因素的重要性,尤其是其中影响语言深层结构的隐性文化对提高二语学习者的中介语水平有重要作用。     

论校园音乐文化

在当前的校园音乐文化研究中,存在着将校园文化理论机械平移的现象,不仅抹杀了校园音乐文化的个性,而且脱离了校园音乐理论自身发展的实际。笔者认为,这种“近景式”分析缺乏对校园音乐文化发展趋势的总体把握。因此,对音乐文化建设进行积极的观瞻,显得至关重要。     

全面学分制背景下转专业情况分析——以计算机学院为例

使学生学习自己满意的专业,既是高校人才培养的需要,也是对学生专业选择自主权的尊重[1]。本文以高校某工科院系为例,分析了学生转专业的原因,发现学生对专业了解不够、填报志愿动机不同、大学生活不适应等因素会影响学生转专业。学院修订了转专业条例,为学生提供更全面的转专业指导。     

Heraclitean Thinking: Implications for Philosophy of Education

Heraclitus was the first presocratic Ionian thinker to describe the underlying nature of reality as a set of processes in flux and to affirm the constantly changing nature of the cosmos. In this essay, I discuss four major doctrines of his thought which constitute the crux of the Heraclitean worldview. I then expound some thoughts on the relevance and implications of Heraclitean thinking for philosophy of education.
