The effects of evaluation conditions on “continuing motivation” study of the cultural,personological and situational antecedents of a motivational pattern

This study compares the effects of three different evaluation conditions on the “continuing motivation” of grade school students in Iran and the U.S. In both cultural groups, the highest continuing motivation was shown by students in a self-evaluation condition followed, in order, by students in the peer comparison and teacher evaluation conditions. While the generalizability of evaluation effects is perhaps the most striking finding, it may he noted that these effects were to some extent modified by individual differences in achieving orientation and sex role. Also of interest were the effects of performance level on continuing motivation, In this case, higher levels of performance on the task were generally followed by greater continuing motivation. The theoretical implications of this and other findings were discussed in terms of Current achievement theory.

护生院外急救综合技能大赛的实践与探索

"以赛促学,以赛促教",强化技能训练,探索实践教学新途径。组织学生以团队形式参加综合技能大赛,参赛项目模拟临床案例情景,融入现代护理理论、救护技术、职业态度、团队协作及人文沟通等技能。大赛有利于学生急救意识和人文意识的培养,促进职业能力的提高。大赛检阅学校办学实力,检验实践教学质量,是学生执业能力培养的载体。此方法强化了职业教育中的人文意识,贴近临床,缩短了护生向专业护士转化的认知期。     

中美环境议题报道的比较研究

为应对气候变暖而召开的《联合国气候变化框架公约》缔约方第15次会议,吸引了以《人民日报》与《纽约时报》为代表的中美两国主流媒体的关注。两报在报道内容上的背离使得中美两国在环境新闻领域形成新的话语交锋。二者形成差异的原因在于国情相异,意识形态观念有别,文化积淀基础上形成的生态伦理观念迥异,新闻传播理念不同等。从中我们可以得到启示,我国环境新闻的写作需以科学方法为指导,在对外传播的过程中注重策略的优化,同时力求与现行的国际传播手段接轨,重塑中国勇于承担责任的大国形象。     

Communication for Public Decision-Making in a Negative Historical Context: Building Intercultural Relationships in the British Columbia Treaty Process

Abstract

Encouraging involvement in local, regional and national communities in order to develop a healthy democracy is a laudable goal for society. However, culturally marginalized groups that have been historically excluded from such participation, and who utilize communication patterns that differ from the dominant culture, cannot take all the responsibility for becoming engaged. The aboriginal peoples of North America are one such marginalized cultural group. Utilizing data from the current British Columbia treaty process, this study posits communication structures, attitudes, and behaviors that dominant culture groups must adopt in order to build positive long-term relationships for public engagement with historically marginalized cultural groups.     

The historian activist and the Gift to the Nation project: preserving the records of the Australian Red Cross

ABSTRACT

In 2014, as part of their centenary celebrations, the Australian Red Cross initiated a project in which it transferred archives to various national, state and territory institutions across Australia including the University of Melbourne Archives and the State Library of New South Wales. The transfer of this voluminous (but not complete) collection built on earlier transfers of archives to the State Library of South Australia and the Australian War Memorial. This paper charts the origins of the plan to donate the records to public repositories. It interrogates the societal provenance of those collections, recognising that the pluralising of records is an historical process, in which the agency of archivists, historians and administrators must be understood. An investigation of Red Cross records in Australia exposes that process in its contingency, inertia and, ultimately, enthusiasm. The paper also reveals the challenges faced by voluntary organisations in preserving their records, and how historians and archivists both can benefit from assisting such organisations. Finally, this paper argues that the ‘Gift to the Nation’ project, with its national and international significance, reflects a shift in our understanding of the First World War to a transnational paradigm that recognises the important role of voluntary organisations.
