21世纪企业秘书素质谈

随着我国政治体制改革和经济体制改革的不断深入，二十一世纪我国高职高专的秘书教育应重点关注企业对秘书人才的需求情况，从而为企业培养出大量适用型、技能型、复合型的高素质的综合性人才。据此加大培养力度，从宏观上调整教育方式，有针对性地加大对秘书人才素质的培养。     

高职院校秘书专业英语的教学改革与实践——以苏州市职业大学为例

秘书专业英语是文秘专业的一门必修课,集专业性与实践性于一体。针对本学科特点,教师在教学实践过程中不断探索,展开多种尝试,全面改革教学模式,努力培养学生的专业英语实用能力,为学生今后从事涉外文秘工作奠定了必要的知识和技能基础。     

Ethnography’s capacity to contribute to the cumulation of theory: a response to Hammersley

My aim in this paper is to raise the question of educational authority in terms of a philosophical and historical understanding in the context of a democratic polity. In particular, I wish to advance the view that educational authority in England is not well-founded since it resides increasingly with the Secretary of State for Education. This fails to reflect the public nature of education and also local conditions. The lack of appropriate authority contributes to many problems, the most prominent of which are the contested nature of education and schools provision and the frustrating fact that policies at national level change so frequently. Drawing on the discussion in Amy Gutmann’s Democratic Education, it examines differing conceptions of educational authority and proposes a tentative solution, which draws on the experience of the School Boards movement in England, 1870–1902.

《企业秘书写作》对提高高职文秘专业学生综合素质的探讨

企业急需的文秘人员是综合素质高的复合型人才,要提高高职文秘专业学生的综合素质,《企业秘书写作》起着举足轻重的作用。本文就《企业秘书写作》课程性质的确定、课程内容的设置、教学方法的改革、教学实践环节安排、教材的编写等方面对提高高职文秘专业学生的综合素质进行探讨。     

文秘专业中的文言教学

在大学文秘专业中开设古代汉语课已有很长时间了，其中取得了很多很好的经验，但也暴露出了很多问题。本文立足于素质教育这一个大环境，着重从五个方面阐述了如何在新形式下顺利实现在文秘专业学生中进行文言教学，同时也说明了文言教学的必要性和可操作性。     

Congressional hearings: Neglected sources of information on American Indians

Over the past three decades, discussion of government documents on American Indians has emphasized federal agency documents and archival records. Despite the fact that Congress has the ultimate authority in Indian affairs, document librarians have not explored the considerable research potential of hearings as a format for information. This article will show, with examples from early twentieth century legislative and oversight hearings, that there is significant untapped research content on American Indians in congressional hearings.     

On Jiang Mian＇s Historical and Political Status

蒋冕主要活动于弘治、正德两朝及嘉靖前期,官至内阁大学士、首辅,他为官清正,多有建树,不失为重要的历史人物。我们有必要对其仕途生涯试作一番梳理与评述,以期有更多的人关注这个人物。     

Determinants of Defense in Presidential Debates

This study investigates the relationship between attacks and defenses in political debates. Being the target of an attack provides a candidate with opportunity and motivation to defend; hence, the frequency of attacks directed toward a candidate should be directly related to the number of defenses produced by that candidate. This study employs four data sets to test this expectation: 23 U.S. general presidential debates, 59 U.S. presidential primary debates, 12 U.S. Senate debates, and 10 non-U.S. debates (France, Israel, Taiwan, and Ukraine). Statistical analysis confirms that there is a significant positive relationship between number of attacks aimed at a candidate and the number of defenses employed by that candidate in all four samples of political campaign debates. Arguably, this form of direct clash between candidates could be particularly beneficial to voters as it provides a deeper understanding of the pros and cons of governmental policy and related issues.     

Adam Ferguson's Civil Society and the Rhetorical Functions of (In)Civility in United States Senate Debate

This article offers a theoretical examination of civility within the modern U.S. Senate (USS), grounding the contemporary literature—which conceives of civility as a set of standards for public argument—in the notion of civil society as espoused by Adam Ferguson. Ferguson's theory of civil society suggests that civility within deliberative bodies should be weighed against other factors, including the antagonistic nature of debate and the morality (in a utilitarian sense) of its participants and outcomes. The essay concludes with examples of how critics might apply this perspective to USS debate to reveal the rhetorical functions of (in)civility.
