Principal leadership changes and their consequences for school performance in South Africa

School leadership changes are gaining momentum in South Africa as larger proportions of incumbent principals near retirement age. While this presents opportunities to replace weaker school leaders with better ones, these changes may also destabilize school environments and impede on learning. This study explores this issue using payroll data on public school principals in South Africa linked to national data on schools and matriculation examination outcomes. School fixed effects and propensity score matching with difference-in-difference estimations confirm that principal changes are indeed detrimental to school performance with larger disruptive effects observed in poorer schools.     

世界男子篮球比赛中阵地进攻战术运用情况分析

自篮球运动开展以来,阵地进攻战术就伴随着篮球运动不断发展,并且越来越显现出它在比赛中的重要性．通过查阅了大量的期刊文献资料,以近、现代篮球相关理论为理论依据,对第十五届男篮世锦赛前八强队阵地进攻战术的运用情况进行分析,找出他们的特点及规律,这对于总结现代篮球阵地进攻战术的发展趋势有一定的理论意义．     

我国上市公司高管变更与业绩敏感性研究

本文考察了中国上市公司高管变更与绩效敏感性的影响因素。研究发现,高管变更的可能性与公司会计业绩显著负相关,特别是用经行业调整并剔出盈余管理后资产报酬率计量公司业绩时,其负相关关系更加显著。高管变更的可能性还受到第一大股东类型、股权制衡度、高管来源、董事长与总经理两职合一的影响。当公司第一大股东的相对控制权越大,且公司股价在股票市场表现不好时,其董事长被更换的可能性也就越高。非国有企业更有可能采用公司的真实业绩来考核董事长,并在公司业绩不好时撤换董事长,而来源于公司第一大股东或上市公司实际控制人单位的董事长会设法保住自己的地位,以降低公司业绩不好时被变更的可能性。     

Teacher turnover and non-pecuniary factors

This paper studies teacher mobility using matched employee–employer panel data from Norwegian primary and lower secondary schools. The Norwegian institutional setup with completely centralized wage setting for teachers is ideal to analyze the effect of non-pecuniary job attributes on quit decisions. We find that teachers tend to leave schools with high share of minority students and high share of students with special needs. In addition, the composition of teachers and the school size affect the propensity to quit. These results are robust across different econometric specifications and sub-samples.     

对资信评级中应收账款周转速度的分析

在企业资信评级中,应收账款周转速度是十分值得关注的一项指标。在贷款企业资信评级体系中,应收帐款周转速度[公式:主营业务收入/(期初应收账款余额原值+期末应收账款余额原值)/2]是评判企业经营能力的主要指标之一,根据企业所属行业的不同,该指标的参照标准略有差异。资信评级的过程包括查看表象、分析原因、做出结论、提出建议等一系列环节。因此,有必要对“应收账款周转速度”的影响因素、评级分析方法进行分析,并提出该指标的改进建议。     

我国上市公司存货管理问题分析及对策——以金风科技存货管理为例

文章以金风科技股份有限公司为例,该文对目标企业的存货管理分析,通过对金风科技相关财务数据的横向对比与纵向对比分析中发现目前金风科技存货管理过程中存在着存货增长率较高、市场前景预测能力较低以及存货周转率下降等问题,针对这些问题,提出以下建议:运用经济订货量降低存货成本、提高市场需求预测精准度、提高存货周转率。

Turnover of senior faculty in departments of social and physical science and engineering

Given the projected surplus of PhDs over the next 20 years, faculty departures to jobs outside academe could be an important source of new academic jobs. This paper attempts to discern and explain hiring and departure patterns of senior faculty in departments in 12 fields. There was more net hiring in engineering departments than elsewhere and fewer departures from departments in public than in private institutions. The relationship between selectivity and thenet hiring rate of senior faculty was significantly negative and nonlinear. Despite predictions of declining enrollments, departments in the less selective institutions still evidence growth of senior faculty positions. Several explanations of this pattern are offered.
