Predicting transition and adjustment to college: biomedical and behavioral science aspirants’ and minority students’ first year of college

The purpose of this study is to explore key factors that impact the college transition of aspiring underrepresented minority students in the biomedical and behavioral sciences, in comparison with White, Asian students and non-science minority students. We examined successful management of the academic environment and sense of belonging during the first college year. Longitudinal data were derived from the Higher Education Research Institute’s (HERI) 2004 Cooperative Institutional Research Program (CIRP) Freshman Survey and the 2005 Your First College Year (YFCY) Survey. Using a reformulation of the integration model (Nora, Barlow, and Crisp, 2005), we find concerns about college financing, negotiating family support and responsibility, and campus racial dynamics (perceived and behavioral) affect student adjustment and sense of integration in the first year. 韩山师院学生心理健康状况与教育对策

本文采用“心理卫生自评量表”（SCL-90）和自编“生活事件量表”,调查了我院1457名大学生心理健康状况及影响因素。研究结果显示:占调查人数的12.2％的韩师大学生有中度以上的心理不健康症状;方差分析结果显示,年级、性别、经济对高师生的心理健康影响最为显著。     

后现代主义课程思想对大学英语教改的启示

本文阐明了后现代主义关于课程的基本理解,以后现代主义课程思想为出发点,针对我国目前大学英语教学现状的实际问题进行了反思,并对大学英语教学改革提出了五点建设性意见。     

大学生心态状况调查及其积极心态培养对策研究

文章利用一般自我效能感量表和简易应对方式量表，对某校大学生作抽样调查，结果显示：不同性别和专业的大学生在自我效能感和应对方式上无显著差异；大学生自我效能感的来源存在偏差，主导性的应对方式也有错位。这表明当代大学生的心态并非都是积极的。因此，高校思想政治工作者要高度关注和研究大学生的心态问题。要培养大学生基于能力的自我效能感，要形成以行动为主导的应对方式，要建立起积极心态培训机制。     

Deliberative communication goes to college: the ‘Deliberation Forum’ project as a democratic agent of empowerment for communication students

A new field of research has developed over the last few decades, called ‘Deliberative Communication’. It focuses on the potential contribution of public deliberations to strengthening the foundations of democracy and the promotion of social–political goals and objectives. The current research focuses on a unique case study, the ‘Deliberation Forum’ project, conducted by the Department of Communication at the Yezreel Valley College, Israel. The researcher sought to learn about students' experience of participating in this online forum and the effects they attributed to it, through unstructured interviews she held with them. The students indicated that, for the most part, the experience of participating in the deliberation forum was very positive: it enhanced their self-image as thinking people; strengthened their sense of self-importance as students within the department; developed and reinforced habits of keeping abreast of current affairs as well as critical thinking; and finally, the experience developed and strengthened habits of active participation in pluralistic debates. The study findings indicate that participation in projects of this kind has a clear empowerment potential, while also improving participants' attitude toward public deliberation and decision-making processes.     

浅谈大学英语写作教学的现状及改革

英语写作是大学英语统考中得分较低的一项。然而作为一种书面形式的主动性技能,英语写作却往往能比较客观地反映出英语学习者的语言能力的高低。针对大学英语作文内容空洞贫乏,写作知识与技巧的缺乏,语言表达错误等问题,我们必须实施英语测试、教学内容与方式的一系列的改革,从而能有效地改进大学英语写作教学,提高学生英语写作的技能。     

网络环境下影响大学生英语写作教学因素的调查与分析

在为期一年的日常实践教学的基础上通过问卷调查的方式了解影响我校非英语专业学生在网络环境下发展英语写作能力的各种因素。调查结果显示,绝大部分学生承认网络写作模式具有传统写作模式不可替代的各种优势,但对通过网络写作模式更有效的提高写作能力没有足够的信心。调查发现,整体语言水平低是阻碍网上英语写作教学顺利实施的最重要的因素,其次是技术因素,最后,由于语言水平和技术条件的障碍所导致的心理障碍也是不容忽视的因素之一。鉴于以上实际情况,作者建议设计一套适合我校以及与我校有相同校情的西南地区各高校的阶梯式网上写作模式,以充分发挥现代网络技术的各种优势,实现写作教学改革的新突破。
