ANALYSIS OF MICROWAVE N-PORT NETWORK BY A MODIFIED BOUNDARY ELEMENT METHOD

A new approach based on resonance technique and modified boundary ele-ment method is presented to calculate the impedance parameter matrix of a microwaveN-port network of waveguide structure.A two port network is taken as a numerical ex-ample and the results show that the approach occupys the advantages of high accuracyand less computation effort.     

Psychologic implications of the maltreated-child syndrome

A retrospective investigation of 97 psychologically maltreated children showed a clear relationship between clinical symptoms and the intensity of the abuse. Parental neglect resulted in impairment of intellectual and locomotor development and emotional and behavioral disorders. Neurotic manifestations of regressive type appeared in nearly half the preadolescents who suffered severe psychological abuse. Children under 6 years of age presented functional symptoms, including regression in toilet training and sleep disorders secondary to inadequate mothering.     

Measuring labour market success: a comparison between immigrants and native-born Canadians using PIAAC

Canadian society is characterised by a plurality of immigrants and Canadian migration policy and corresponding recognition approaches are strongly geared to economic criteria, qualifications and skills. This paper addresses the question how immigrants who have acquired their highest qualification outside Canada are able to use their foreign qualifications and skills in their current job. The analyses are conducted to verify the assumptions of human capital theory as well as the lack of transferability of human capital across country borders. To answer these questions a labour market success index is developed, which is used as a dependent variable in regression models. The results show that traditional operationalisations of human capital (years of education, years of work experience and skills) have a positive effect on individual labour market success. At the same time, being born abroad and having acquired one’s highest qualification abroad in comparison to Canada, especially in a Non-Western country, has negative effects on the overall labour market success of an individual. Detailed comparisons regarding different indicators of labour market success also prove these comparatively negative effects. The results demonstrate the limited explanatory power of human capital theory and the necessity to complement it with Bourdieu’s concepts of social and cultural capital.

An evaluation of the Social Emotional Health Survey—Secondary for use with students with learning disabilities

Students with learning disabilities (LD) represent a vulnerable population and are at higher risk for social and emotional challenges compared to their peers without LD. A strengths‐based orientation is recommended to encourage building resilience factors to counteract the negative effects of LD over the lifespan. To identify areas of strength and areas for growth, measurement tools that are appropriate for the population of students with LD are needed. This study examined the psychometric properties of the Social Emotional Health Survey—Secondary for use with students with LD. Data from students in three secondary schools (n = 2,847) were used to confirm the factor structure, establish measurement invariance, and compare the social–emotional profiles of students with and without LD. The LD group was found to report lower overall social–emotional strengths than those of their non‐LD peers. Implications for practitioners and researchers are discussed.

Strengthening ‘the foundations’ of the primary school curriculum

The low status of the foundation subjects (e.g. Music and Physical Education (PE)) in English primary schools is well documented. Using PE as an illustrative example, a thematic analysis of 51 PE trainee students’ assignments, based on their perceptions of a two-week experience in a primary school, highlighted a number of areas of concern (e.g. limited/inadequate preparation; insufficient teacher knowledge/confidence; variable/limited subject leadership and non-qualified teachers delivering the curriculum). The possibility of teachers, coaches and other external specialists learning collaboratively with and from each other within a community of practice/learning is proposed as one way of strengthening the foundation subjects within the primary school curriculum.     

桌面PC数据传输瓶颈分析

桌面PC数据传输瓶颈，是造成处理器速度不能发挥，计算机整体性能提高与处理器主频提升不同步等现象的重要原因之一。本文从硬件层面出发，对目前桌面PC中存在的处理器总线与内存总线的数据传输瓶颈、I／O扩展总线的数据传输瓶颈和硬盘的数据传输瓶颈进行分析，并提出现实的处理方法。     

参数化CAD技术的研究与应用

在研究参数化技术、计算机辅助设计(CAD)技术的基础上,深入研究了PRO／E的参数化建模与特征建模技术,综合考虑了PRO/E与Microsoft visual C 、Microsoft Access接口技术、参数化设计的数据结构与数据传递关系,基于PRO/TOOLINK,对PRO/E进行了二次开发,实现了三维参数化CAD系统的开发．最终,以杆端关节轴承为例对系统进行了设计应用,也为其它产品设计提供了好的借鉴方法．
