VisPhone: Chinese named entity recognition model enhanced by visual and phonetic features

Many Chinese NER models only focus on lexical and radical information, ignoring the fact that there are also certain rules for the pronunciation of Chinese entities. In this paper, we propose VisPhone, which incorporates Chinese characters’ Phonetic features into Transformer Encoder along with the Lattice and Visual features. We present the common rules for the pronunciation of Chinese entities and explore the most appropriate method to encode it. VisPhone uses two identical cross transformer encoders to fuse the visual and phonetic features of the input characters with the text embedding. A selective fusion module is used to get the final features. We conducted experiments on four well-known Chinese NER benchmark datasets: OntoNotes4.0, MSRA, Resume, and Weibo, with F1 scores of 82.63%, 96.07%, 96.26%, 70.79% respectively, improving the performance by 0.79%, 0.32%, 0.39%, and 3.47%. Our ablation experiments have also demonstrated the effectiveness of VisPhone.

涉外护生跨文化护理能力培养的思考

文章介绍了跨文化护理概念,分析了当前跨文化护理的市场需求,提出了培养跨文化护理能力的理论依据,并以湖北职业技术学院为例,探讨了涉外护理专业培养涉外护生跨文化交际能力的措施。     

Performance improvement of complementary feeders using static transfer switch system

The performance of complementary feeders, running in parallel, can be significantly improved by installing static transfer switches （STSs） at critical locations. We develop the STS control logic, which transfers the critical load from the preferred feeder to the alternate feeder when a voltage sag or a fault occurs on the preferred feeder. A forced commutation technique is proposed and implemented to turn off the preferred feeders＇ thyristor, thus avoiding cross current to flow and minimizing the transfer time. Simulation results show that the forced commutation technique is more effective as compared to the recently proposed time delay technique for STS operation. Two different feeders, namely New Exchange, the preferred feeder, and Sector 1-10/2, the alternate feeder of Islamabad Electric Supply COmpany （IESCO）, Pakistan, have been selected for case studies. The software PSCAD/EMTDC professional package has been used for simulation.     

Easy cross parameterization for articulated shapes

This paper presents a novel interactive system for establishing compatible meshes for articulated shapes. Given two mesh surfaces, our system automatically generates both the global level component correspondence and the local level feature correspondence. Users can use some sketch-based tools to specify the correspondence in an intuitive and easy way. Then all the other vertex correspondences could be generated automatically. The cross parameterization preserves both high level and low level features of the shapes. The technique showed in the system benefits various applications in graphics including mesh inter- polation, deformation transfer, and texture transfer.     

跨界合作编目的探索与实践

编目的社会化已经无所不在,遍地开花,从某种程度上说,强调编目的专业化其实是拒绝其社会化的托词。专业化只是基础,社会化才是目的,专业化服务于社会化,反过来,社会化又会促进其进一步专业化,二者绝不冲突。     

Calibration of reading self-concept and reading achievement among 15-year-olds: Cultural differences in 34 countries

Self-concept is linked to student achievement in many domains. In this study, we examined reading self-concept's (RSC) and RSC calibration accuracy's links to reading achievement across different contexts via multi-level analyses of 34 countries' 158,848 fifteen-year-olds' reading tests and questionnaire responses. Students with higher RSC, higher calibration accuracy (of RSC to their reading scores) or underconfidence (relative to their reading scores) had higher reading scores. RSC was more strongly linked to reading scores in countries that were richer, less equal, more collective, less uncertainty averse, less hierarchical, or less rigid regarding gender roles. Calibration accuracy was also more strongly linked to reading achievement in more hierarchical, individualistic, or uncertainty-tolerant countries. In more individualistic countries, underconfident students were more likely to have above average reading achievement. Hence, excessive confidence does not necessarily benefit students, especially in more individualistic countries.     

Cooperation Through Movement Education and Children’s Literature

This article demonstrates evidence-based practice that integrates movement education with children’s literature, in order to promote cooperation among Bengali kindergarteners, from an urban public school in Midwestern USA. First, the authors argue the need for this integration based on limitations of previous scholarship. Second, authors present their developmentally and culturally appropriate conceptual framework based on Bhavnagri and Samuel’s research, along with the theory of cooperation and schema development. Third, children’s understanding of cooperation concepts (helping, turn taking, sharing, dividing labor, negotiating, coordinating, exchanging information, and perspective taking) embedded in literature are analyzed. Concomitantly, children demonstrated same cooperation sub-skills during four movement activities related to the stories. Fourth, authors reflect that cooperation was successful because activities met Johnson and Johnson’s guidelines of high social interactions, high emotional involvement, and effective communication. Finally, the authors recommend that integration of cooperation and movement education is beneficial for educational programs in diverse settings.
