Graphic Modernism From the Baltic to the Balkans, 1910–1935

The article briefly describes the exhibition Graphic Modernism From the Baltic to the Balkans, 1910–1935, which took place at The New York Public Library from October 5, 2007 through January 27, 2008. Works exhibited were created by Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Russian, Czech, Hungarian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Slovenian, Croatian, and Serbian artists and authors. They included monographs, serials, and posters. The exhibit was curated by the author and Steven Mansbach.     

2008年全国女子垒球锦标赛技术统计与分析

运用统计法对获得2008年全国女子垒球锦标赛前8名队伍的投手、防守和击球技术进行对比研究,结果表明：近几年我国女子垒球击球技术水平及防守能力逐步提高,各省市队伍水平差距明显缩小;投手投球能力虽有较大提高,但有特点的尖子投手不多。     

欧洲高校与质量文化：迎接质量保证的挑战

欧洲许多国家的高等教育质量保证体系在不断发展的同时,也受到学术界和高校管理人士的尖锐批评。近年来,一些学者开始倡导质量文化的理念,尤其是在欧洲大学联合会的支持下,已经发展成为一种思潮。质量文化还没有完全统一的定义,但将其融入学校管理和改革中已成为欧洲高校的无奈和必然选择。质量文化的培育方式还有待深入研究,但有学者已经做了有益尝试并取得一定成果。这一理念对中国高校具有重要的借鉴意义。

通过对第十四届世界男篮锦标赛中国男篮8场比赛防守技术的统计，分析和研究了中国男篮在防守技术方面存在的一些问题，并提出了相应的对策和措施，旨在为今后的篮球训练工作提供一定的参考和借鉴。     

语言多元化的历史演变——基于欧盟官方资料的语料分析

欧盟对语言多元化的理解和构架大致经历了三个阶段：第一阶段（1997--2004年）的文件资料中经常提到语言及语言学习,但还没有明确提出语言多元化这一概念;第二阶段（2004--2007年）公共文件资料中已经明确提出语言多元化,然而却是在教育和文化政策资料中出现,没有将其单列出来;第三阶段（2007--2010年）,欧盟专门出台了语言多元化相关政策或报告,从而基本形成了完备的语言多元化政策格局。欧盟语言多元化对我国少数民族语言保护及外语教育有一定的借鉴意义。

Estimating the causal effect of R&D subsidies in a pan-European program

We investigate the effect of Europe's largest multilateral subsidy program for R&D-performing small and medium-sized enterprises. The program applied a specific budget allocation rule, referred to as Virtual Common Pot (VCP), which is designed to avoid cross-subsidization between participating countries. This rule creates exogenous variation in funding status and allows us to identify the causal effect of public R&D grants on firm growth. In addition, we compare the program's effect under the VCP rule with the standard situation of a Real Common Pot (RCP), in which program authorities allocate a single budget according to uniform project evaluation criteria. Our estimates suggest that R&D grants had no average effect on job creation and sales growth, but treatment effects were heterogeneous and positive for high-quality projects. Under an RCP the program would have created 53% more jobs and 48% higher sales.     

The role of British newspapers in framing the public perception and experience of European radio 1930 to 1939

This article analyses how British newspapers in the 1930s created a particular frame or view of radio as an international medium. This frame was created around the idea of a duality, of radio being defined by both national and foreign broadcasts. By analysing coverage provided by the main national newspapers at this time, in relation to their specific radio coverage, such as programme listing and highlights, this paper delineates the form the frame took, what was included and was absent. Such a frame provides an understanding of how the newspapers viewed and valued radio in a period when international broadcasts were seen as an important part of what radio could offer.     

对中外优秀女子10 000m运动员速度分配的解析

分析对比1999年国内田径锦标赛和1999年世界田径锦标赛女子10000m前8名运动员速度分配发现：前后半程速度分配特点是先慢后快；创造优异成绩的运动员常采用快、慢、最快的节奏分配速度；训练水平和比赛目的是决定速度分配的主要因素。研究发现，国内运动员途中跑平均分段成绩波动幅度大于国外运动员。
