Predicting Success: Revisiting Assumptions about Family Political Socialization

This study, guided by family communication patterns theory, examined the role of family communication in political socialization. We tested whether certain communication styles were associated with higher levels of political similarity within the family. Additionally, the independent influences of the mother and father, as well as the direction of these influences, were considered. Results suggest that different communication styles are associated with higher levels of political similarity. Additionally, it was found that children were more likely to share their mothers' political attitudes than their fathers'. Explanations for these findings are discussed and implications focusing on the role of communication in the socialization literature are considered.     

A Stylistic Study into the Musicality of the English Translation of the Ancient Chinese Poem “Jianjia”

"Jianjia"("蒹葭"),one of the most famous poems in Shijing(《诗经》), is characterized by balanced sound patterns and euphonious rhythm. Investigation into the stylistic elements in both the source text and the English translation of"Jianjia"shows us the musicality in ancient Chinese poetry and its limits of translatability.

In-formation on the prairie: Signs, patterns, systems and prairie dogs

The concept of information is clearly foundational to the ‘information’ disciplines but lacking in a clear conceptual foundation. In this paper we propose that the concept is clearly overloaded and suggest that a new vocabulary is needed to enhance our powers of understanding and explanation. We argue that information is better situated at the intersection of signs, patterns and systems, which involves the enactment of forma (the substance of a sign), informa (the content of a sign) and performa (the use of signs in coordinated action). Within this perspective ‘information’ is considered an accomplishment not only of humans but also of animals. This leads us to use a well-documented case from the animal kingdom, that of communication amongst Gunnison prairie dogs, to both ground and expand upon significant elements from our conceptual framework. This we believe helps shed new light on what the juxtaposition of information with behaviour actually means.     

传统保健体育课程大学生体育能力培养模式的实验研究

采用各类科学的研究方法，结合上海中医药大学体育教学特色内容—传统保健体育课程改革实践的经验，设计了学生体育能力培养的模式，并实施了考核方式的实验研究。经实践检验：模式符合学校体育教改的要求，具有可行性和可操作性，充分体现了“以人为本”的现代教学理念，切合学校体育改革坚持“健康第一”的发展方向，对提高大学生运用体育知识、参与锻炼、提倡创新精神，培育体育实践能力和适应社会发展需求具有重要意义。     

论英汉古典诗歌的格律特征及翻译艺术

本文讨论了英语格律诗和汉语格律诗各自的特点,认为英语诗歌格律经历了由音步格式到节拍的演绎过程,而诗行中汉字声调上的平仄变化则体现了汉诗的基本格律。通过英汉古典诗歌的格律比较,文章指出了两者间的差异以及在英语格律诗歌汉译方面所产生的争鸣。     

从澳大利亚外语教学模式浅谈我国大学英语教学

澳大利亚外语教学主要有四种模式,即实景教学模式、主题教学模式、课堂互动教学模式和研究式学习模式。针对目前我国大学英语教学中存在的一些问题,借鉴澳大利亚的外语教学模式改革我国大学英语教学有重要的意义。

追赶和学习的创新型式

本文首先对技术后发国追赶和学习的技术创新过程研究进行了综述,其次基于学习对象的能力观和范式转换“跨越式窗口”观,提出了追赶和学习过程的创新型式的定义和划分,即跨越范式转换的以生产能力为中心的创新型式和以创新能力的中心的创新型式,接给出了基于这一意义的追赶和学习过程的学习、忘却学习和创新的阶段划分。最后对彩电产业进行了案例分析。全文从实证和理论的需要出发,对发展中国家技术创新过程研究视野进行了扩展。     

Elementary preservice teachers’ opinions about parental involvement in elementary children's education

Although parent–teacher interaction is a key factor for children's education, little attention has been paid to this issue in teacher education programs. This study explores and examines the opinions of elementary preservice teachers about parental involvement in elementary children's education. While a total of 223 preservice teachers from a large research university in the southeast of United States participated in the quantitative part, twelve preservice teachers within the same sample who were at the end of their student teaching participated in the qualitative part of the study. Study results suggested that teacher education programmes where parental involvement instruction and activities are integrated into the courses help preservice teachers become better prepared and carry positive opinions toward parental involvement.
