《吕氏春秋》认为天地的性状具有客观必然性,人事应以之为准则;天地的法则和谐有序,故要“法天地”而建立和谐有序的封建秩序;天命是客观事物发展变化给人造成的遭遇,但君权是天授。其天论主要是上继荀子等多家的思想而更树独立见解,这反映了进步的新兴地主势力的思维。其总的倾向是坚持了朴素唯物论和辩证法,但也有其局限性。

《吴越春秋》作为东汉时期一部著名的杂史著作,其死亡叙事取得了较高成就。它折射了崇尚人生命的社会属性而轻忽其生物属性的生命观,体现了忠、孝、节、义的伦理观。《吴越春秋》的死亡叙事有助于具体饱满地展现人物的性格特征,塑造生动逼真的人物形象,对增强作品叙事的生动性、有机性也有一定的作用。     

Networking or Not Working?

This paper examines journalists' changing sourcing practices in the context of an emerging media ecology initiated by processes of globalization, digitization, commercialism and concentration. Social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter or YouTube provide the means to access a more diverse range of sources, including civil society organizations and ordinary citizens. We developed a quantitative content analysis to examine to what extent Belgian news coverage showed signs of diverse sourcing practices during the 2011 uprisings in three Arab countries. We analysed a total sample of 1121 news items about the street protests in Syria, Egypt and Tunisia, in four Belgian newspapers (two popular and two quality dailies) and two Belgian broadcasters (the public broadcaster VRT and the commercial channel VTM). The analysis shows that ordinary citizens and non-mainstream groups are important news sources and that social media platforms are consulted relatively often compared to everyday foreign news coverage. In terms of inter-media differences, the findings show that broadcasters' dependency on video footage and eyewitness accounts is reflected in their use of ordinary citizen sources and amateur footage. Moreover, the analysis confirms that quality newspapers display more diverse and more innovative sourcing practices than popular newspapers.     

Social Media as Primary Source

This article explores and critiques the use of social media as a primary source in the writing of twenty-first-century history. Since the introduction of so-called social media in the early 2000s, social scientists, journalists, and users have hailed this media form as a revolutionary departure from the ‘old media’ that dominated the twentieth century. Part of the narrative of ‘new media’ is it provides greater amounts of user agency, removes structural impediments for social dialog, and promotes an egalitarian exchange within the global sphere. This article suggests that this account is a product of the narrative structure of classical liberalism, through which social media as an object of knowledge and effectivity is produced. It concludes that the use of social media as a primary source for social histories of popular protest will require substantive theoretical scrutiny by scholars writing about these processes of the twenty-first century.

春秋时期晋、鲁两国家臣有诸多共性,如家臣大量出现的背景、家臣的设置、家臣的依附性等。但由于两国具体情况不同,晋国家臣多具有双重身份,鲁国家臣则出现了屡次叛主的现象。通过两者的比较,可对春秋时期家臣的全貌有较全面的认识。     

中西方想象中的乐土:乌托邦与桃花源

托马斯·莫尔的著作《乌托邦》开创了西方乌托邦传统,为西方人打造了一片精神乐土,同时也深深地影响了中国人的乌托邦概念。西方的学界对于西方之外是否存在乌托邦一直有争议,国内对乌托邦的研究也一直使用西方的定义与标准。陶渊明的《桃花源记并诗》为中国人创造了一片精神乐土,它也是引起西方学界对中国是否存在乌托邦文学争论最多的一部作品。分别将二者置于各自的历史、哲学、宗教背景中,不难发现二者都是作者在面对不堪的现实时,用想象力创造出的精神乐土,但是《乌托邦》面向未来,而《桃花源》回归上古世界。想象力是道德之善的工具,而艺术有助于实现这种道德之善。想象中的乐土存在于艺术中,它能够陶冶情操,拯救感知麻木不仁的状态。
