1913年，黄炎培提出实用主义教育学说，对小学普通教育进行改良，使其能切近学生生活实际。1917年，针对当时学生学非所用、用非所学、毕业即失业的现象，黄炎培倡导职亚教育，希望通过革新普通教育，使学生在校得到一技之长，毕业后能在社会上谋生。其时，由于中国民族资本主义工商业的衰落，对职业教育的需求渐少，职业教育办学陷入困境。黄炎培于1926年提出大职业教育主义，认为应对普通教育进行彻底革新，只有加强与社会经济的联系与沟通。了解社会、经济的需求，与社会、经济的发展保持良性互动，职业教育才可能得到顺利发展。     

Education for social change and pragmatist theory: five features of educative environments designed for social change

This paper establishes the basis for a pragmatist-inspired theory of human action to predominant ideas about knowledge, learning and education. As a necessary prelude to an examination of pragmatist theory’s position on human action and its specific focus on habits and creativity, pragmatism is defined and then related to inquiry. Next, the fields of adult education and social movement learning are explored for their continued resonance with the main educational tenets of pragmatism. Following this, a separate section on habits and creativity is offered to highlight a key relationship for the design of educative environments. Knowledge is addressed in a section that explains it as a carrier of routine and a bridge in the individual-collective nexus. The paper ends with five features of an educative environment designed for social change, each of which is identified in relation to the tenets of pragmatist theory.

美国是当代西方极为重视德育研究的国家之一.杜威的实用主义德育理论、柯尔伯格的道德认知发展理论、价值澄清学派的德育方法和"品格教育",是美国影响最大的几种理论和方法,对美国德育产生了不可磨灭的影响.从美国这几种道德教育理论和方法的演变来看,杜威实用主义德育理论影响很远,它不但对美国的道德教育产生了并将继续产生重大影响,而且在世界范围产生了并将继续产生重大影响.     

美国文学中清教思想地位的嬗变

美国文学自发轫之初就烙下清教思想的印记。早在殖民时期,美国人对清教思想极其推崇、顶礼膜拜,而后来,清教思想在文学中的地位却日渐动摇,尤其是到了20世纪初期,清教思想曾一度沦为知识青年怀疑的对象,甚至是受攻击的靶子。这一变化是美国历史发展的必然,也是美国文学与文化逐渐成熟并形成相对独立体系的一个重要标志。     

A strategic quality assurance framework in an African higher education context

This study is based on a pragmatist analysis of selected international accounts on quality assurance in higher education. A pragmatist perspective was used to conceptualise a logical internal quality assurance model to embed and support the alignment of graduate competencies in curriculum and assessment of Ghanaian polytechnics. Through focus group and in-depth interviews, the framework was evaluated by internal stakeholders including lecturers, students and administrators of the polytechnics. It was found that from a pragmatist perspective, quality assurance concepts and practices in higher education reported in the international literature could be used to design a context-specific quality assurance framework for higher education systems in Africa but there will be challenges with implementation of such a framework. The challenges found include quality culture and financial resources. Nonetheless, it was noted that effective planning and stakeholder commitment can surmount the challenges to ensure effective implementation of the framework to enhance quality.     

A Possible Approach to Introduce Word Memorizing Methods into College English Teaching

Words acquisition should be the most decisive and basic part, though modern English education does not take enough attention, especially in college English teaching. A recent survey on the Internet reveals that college students are worrying about their words power very much, eager to find an efficient and effective way. Hence, various modes of word memorizing methods are collected and a brief classification and remark are available. By an overall analysis of those methods, a new approach compromised by different kinds of methods turns out. This new approach completely abides by the philosophy of pragmatism, and every idea with practical use will be introduced to it, e.g. psychology of language and so on.
