The development of ovarian follicular cells is controlled by multiple circulating and local hormones and factors, including
follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and epidermal growth factor (EGF). In this study, the stage-specific effect of EGF on FSH-induced
proliferation of granulosa cells was evaluated in the ovarian follicles of egg-laying chickens. Results showed that EGF and its receptor (EGFR) mRNAs displayed a high expression in granulosa cells from the prehierarchical follicles, including the large white follicle
(LWF) and small yellow follicle (SYF), and thereafter the expression decreased markedly to the stage of the largest preovulatory
follicle. SYF represents a turning point of EGF/EGFR mRNA expression during follicle selection. Subsequently the granulosa cells from SYF were cultured to reveal the mediation
of EGF in FSH action. Cell proliferation was remarkably increased by treatment with either EGF or FSH (0.1–100 ng/ml). This
result was confirmed by elevated proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) expression and decreased cell apoptosis. Furthermore,
EGF-induced cell proliferation was accompanied by increased mRNA expressions of EGFR, FSH receptor, and the cell cycle-regulating
genes (cyclins D1 and E1, cyclin-dependent kinases 2 and 6) as well as decreased expression of luteinizing hormone receptor
mRNA. However, the EGF or FSH-elicited effect was reversed by simultaneous treatment with an EGFR inhibitor AG1478. In conclusion,
EGF and EGFR expressions manifested stage-specific changes during follicular development and EGF mediated FSH-induced cell
proliferation and retarded cell differentiation in the prehierarchical follicles. These expressions thus stimulated follicular

Robust academic research on the topic of students involved in the sex industry is in its infancy, yet the relationship appears consistent and permanent. This paper draws on findings from the largest study into the stripping industry in the United Kingdom to explore the relationships between students, sex work and consumption. To make sense of the relationship between students and participation in the sex industry, a deeper understanding of other social and cultural processes is needed. In this discussion we argue that the following points are relevant and interlinked: changes to the nature of sexual commerce and sexual consumption as they become part of the marketplace; changes in social attitudes and the rise of ‘respectability’ in sexual commerce; the ‘pleasure dynamic’ amongst students; and changes in the higher education structure that place students as consumers as well as financially fragile. We set out a future research agenda given that this relationship is set to grow as the individual bares the cost of higher education. 相似文献

The literature on the impact of entertainment media on sex education is typically pathology-focused, unclear regarding the effects of such usage, and void of dialogue between those who actually work in the areas of sexuality education and entertainment. To address this gap, this paper is the product of joint authorship between media figures from varied sexually-focused programming fields and academics who teach and conduct research in the areas of sexuality and relational health. The authors focus on the role that various forms of entertainment media play in educating members of the public and college classrooms in the areas of sex and sexuality. For most of us, sex is a subjective, lived experience that is as unique as our genetic make-up, our upbringing, our thoughts, values, feelings, beliefs and ideas. It is through our erotic interactions, or the absence thereof, that we form aspects of our fluid and mutable erotic paths and identities. Despite the proliferation of sexual imagery throughout our culture, many of us still struggle with what sex means to us, what we do, how we experience it and what that says about who we are as people. Some who struggle with this may seek the services of a psychosexual sex therapist. This paper aims to explain how such services function, why they are necessary and how the use of sexually explicit material, in some psychosexual therapeutic contexts, can help unravel the mixed responses we have to sex and our social conditioning, and enhance our overall relationship to eroticism, pleasure and general well-being. 相似文献

目的:探讨超负荷运动骨折致骨骼坏死患者的临床特点及调节激素生长刺激治疗方案。方法:分析2013年9月~2014年1月收治31例超负荷运动骨折致骨骼坏死患者的临床资料,总结超负荷运动骨折致骨骼坏死患者的临床特点及调节激素生长刺激治疗方案。结果:31例患者骨骼坏死后早期表现为骨骼受伤部位不适、神经疼痛等,逐渐出现意识变差、神经系统压迫性受损的表现,予早期骨骼固定、骨骼按摩、骨骼触感恢复及骨骼神经恢复等治疗,通过激素生长刺激作用,调节激素对于人体的刺激,使得坏死骨骼生长,31例患者住院1~40 d,11例好转,13例骨骼坏死部分恢复,2例骨骼坏死全部恢复。结论:超负荷运动骨折致骨骼坏死有很强的破坏性,临床表现为骨骼和相关神经衰竭,恢复率低,目前暂无特效调节激素生长刺激治疗方案,及早采取积极的治疗措施:如早期多次骨骼触感恢复或加骨骼神经恢复、大剂量激素的应用对骨骼坏死的救治和改善有重大作用。 相似文献
