This essay looks at the mobility of pregnant Mainland women in Hong Kong to expose the reverberations of the SAR government's immigration policies relating to cross-border birth tourism. Pregnant Mainland women and their children (fetuses), as emergent social subjects, embody conflict and the negotiation between population governance and economic benefits. The government denies pregnant Mainland women the right to give birth in Hong Kong based on their non-eligible status while admitting their children to be born in Hong Kong on the grounds that their children meet Hong Kong's future demand for population renewal, in this way boosting the development of childbirth tourism. However, the localism, which has had an extensive influence on Hong Kong local society in recent years, has rejected the SAR government's “population renewal” imaginary by suggesting its own “locust imaginary.” The government's acceptance and the local's exclusion of the population flow between China and Hong Kong imply distinct cross-border subject imaginations. Only by contextualizing and critically analyzing the various othering identities such as the non-eligible or locusts can we better understand the cultural politics of Hong Kong birthright citizenship over recent years.  相似文献

据 1 42 7~ 1 971年汉族家谱和圆形分析,表明男婴出生率亥时最高,申时最低 ;女婴出生率子时最高,戌时最低.男婴、女婴平均出生高峰时间分别为 2 2时 49分和 2 3时 2 5分,二者差异不显著 (P>0.0 5 ),男婴和女婴合并为 2 3时 1 1分.男婴、女婴夜间出生率比白天分别高1 2个和 1 1个百分点,差异均极显著 (P<0.0 1 ).男婴阳时、阴时出生率分别为 42.65 %和5 7.35 %,差异极显著 ;女婴分别为 46.78%和 5 3.2 2 %,差异接近显著 (P =0.1 0 ).古代和近现代男婴最大出生率均出现在亥时,女婴均在子时.男婴、女婴的出生时辰与出生月份之间均存在显著相关.随着产妇年龄的增加,男婴出生时间似有推迟趋向,但线性关系未达显著水准.  相似文献

Labor support is known to support progress of normal labor. Nurses are encouraged to provide labor support yet may encounter barriers to the practice of labor support. The purpose of this secondary data analysis was to examine individual and institutional factors associated with labor support behaviors. Age and experience were individual factors related to labor support. Older and more experienced nurses reported providing more labor support. Institutional factors associated with labor support were lower rates of epidural analgesia use and cesarean surgery. These findings indicate birthing families should understand that the birth environment may influence the care that nurses give during labor. Choosing an environment that supports normal birth may be the best place for receiving labor supportive nursing care.  相似文献

The assumptions on which educators based childbirth education principles were valid when psychoprophylactic birth became available. Yet, educators and health-care providers have changed their assumptions about birth as they have learned more from the midwifery model of care, how women want to give birth, and how capable the body is to give birth. Educators'' teaching must now emphasize the synchrony of hormones that facilitates birth, the Sphincter Law, and the sharing of woman-to-woman stories throughout the generations if birth is to be set in its rightful place—in the hands of the mothers.  相似文献
