易地扶贫搬迁是中国扶贫的重要方式。因为地理空间的改变,扶贫移民面临生计资本、社会网络资本、社会文化资本的断裂,远距离扶贫移民尤其明显。移民新村建成后,村民为了更好地生活,主动寻找以往生活的痕迹,重建自己的舒适区,并在这一过程中逐渐形成对新村的认同。以甘肃D村为例,移民村充分发挥主体性,以集体记忆的传承和延续重构了新村社会关系网络、居住空间和仪式习俗,形成了共同的身份话语,达成了一致的生活方式与价值认同,促进了这一村落共同体的形成。  相似文献

Based on findings from a qualitative case study focused on Mexican postgraduate international students at a prestigious university in the south of England, this article explores the coping strategies implemented by the participants prior to departing to their study abroad experience. Findings revealed varying degrees of involvement with pre-arrival preparations where some participants employed a series of creative tactics to ease their adaptation upon arrival, and some others who did not envision any strategies to prepare. However, as afterthoughts, the latter group of students realised such omission had hindered their transition to the new culture. This led to the conceptualisation of the studying abroad experience as a dynamic process enhancing the perspective of the international student as an active agent of their process of adaptation Ward et al., 2001).  相似文献

Informal interviews and ethnographic research are usedto identify the motivations of Japanese women to studyin Britain, and to examine their experience asstudents as well as peripheral members of the laborforce. It is found that Japanese women's motivationsto come to Britain to study are encouraged by theforces of globalization, including economic, culturaland intellectual factors. Women are also pushed tostudy abroad by domestic factors, as although Japanhas developed an egalitarian education system for bothsexes, women still encounter conservative social normswhich constrain their lives and limit their jobprospects. Japanese women's experiences of highereducation in Britain are mixed. Some women feel thattheir presence is merely tolerated and that they arenot encouraged in their academic endeavours. Othersfind British higher education gives them theopportunity to develop their critical faculties and tobecome integrated into the life of the institution. These mixed responses are indicative of thecontradictory consequences of globalization ineducation. Globalization has helped to give neweducational opportunities to Japanese women. However,it has also created an international recruitmentmarket in which some higher education institutionsview students in financial terms and not as members ofa scholarly community. One of the ironies ofglobalization, therefore, is that the mutualeducational advantages of cross cultural contact areundermined by a reductive, narrowly economic view offoreign students as a source of revenue.  相似文献

Mexican immigrant farm-worker mothers’ class, race, citizenship status, and jurisdictional status of their town in a Northern California community rendered them invisible. However, when the school board decided to close the elementary school the mothers mobilized. Drawing on these mothers’ fototestimonios we examine how they, as cultural citizens, resisted local practices of educational inequity. They wanted to ensure an education for their children. The fototestimonios reveal how farm-worker mothers: (1) negotiated as a collective with the school board; (2) sought negotiation and schooling alternatives; and (3) expressed cultural citizenship through collective efforts to be included within the US polity.  相似文献

This essay traces the bilingual education movement that began in Tucson through the efforts of local teachers, university faculty and educational leaders. It is argued that Mexican Americans and their allies played a crucial role in promoting the merits of bilingual education at the local, state and national levels. Their advocacy of Spanish-for-Spanish-speakers programmes as a culturally relevant means of improving educational outcomes for Mexican American students led to a push for bilingual education with the support of the National Education Association. The work that educators from Tucson accomplished focused national attention on the education of Mexican Americans and ultimately contributed to the passage of the Bilingual Education Act of 1968. This legislation sparked a national movement to expand bilingual education programmes throughout the Southwest and other parts of the nation.  相似文献

饮食文化的传播是多样化的。我们可以通过移民、烹调书以及其他一些标志探究一种文化如何融入新环境。自古以来,食物就是中国人在餐桌内外普遍关注和讨论的话题。研究表明,全世界华人的饮食习惯的变迁是最为迟缓的。本文回顾了自1785年第一批华人进入并定居美国以来的一些标志性事件及其带来的变迁。随着华人移民的不断涌入,越来越多作为中华烹饪传统载体的中餐食谱在美国出版,中餐馆也在美国不断蔓延,养活了众多美国人。本文重点选取几个标志性事件作为说明依据。其中包括1899年美国政府刊发宣传册,鼓励种植和食用中国的蔬菜;20世纪上半叶中餐食谱的出版与使用;时至今日已有超过47000家中餐馆遍布美国,等等。  相似文献

位于陕西、湖北两省边界的漫川关古镇,现存明清时期的古街和大量保存较完好的古民居、古会馆等。从当地传统建筑的平面布局及空间形态、立面造型及构造特点、装饰特点等方面分析,可以看出漫川关古镇的传统建筑基本以商业性质为主,而且兼融南北风格的特点,这些特点的形成主要受到了交通、商贸、移民等方面的影响。  相似文献
