从"软实力"看加强我国文化建设的战略意义

加强我国文化建设既要从思想层面上筑牢价值观的坚实基础,又要从制度层面根除缺乏创新力的固有"病灶,"还要从器物层面上打造创新文化的得力载体。只有这样,文化才能成为我国"软实力"的必备部分和有益助手。     

集体主义对英文写作的影响——关于人称代词的个案研究

文章以语言与文化的关系为理论基础，以人称代词和个人主义以及集体主义文化之间的关系为切入点，深入分析了集体主义文化对英语作文的潜意识影响在人称代词方面的表现以及基本认知模式，认为在英语作文教学中不仅要注意语篇、句法和修辞等方面的训练，更要注意英汉文化的区别以及学生的跨文化写作互动意识，尽量避免汉语文化在英语写作中的文化迁移现象。     

概念隐喻在股市报告中的应用

英汉股市报告中的隐喻实例,说明了Lakoff提出的事件结构隐喻的普遍性。同时,由于概念隐喻受不同文化背景、社会习俗的影响,呈现出一定的文化独特性。概念隐喻具有认知普遍性和文化相对性。     

A network under stress: using embeddedness to understand uncertainty management and resilience in campus emergencies

Persistent school shootings have generated ongoing pressure to assess and enhance crisis communication effectiveness via strategies such as resilience-building and post-crisis restoration. A network perspective offers a robust, multilevel approach for examining complex information flows among community, campus, and individual actors affected by crises. Drawing on relational and structural embeddedness and Uncertainty Management Theory, we offer nine propositions that help explain structural and relational changes in a network over time. Although theoretically driven, these propositions are primarily functional, offering practical implications for safety officials and administrators trying to understand, prepare for, and respond to crises. Thus, we suggest measures and recommendations to improve information flow, uncertainty management, and resilience before, during, and after a crisis.     

The moderating role of cultural orientation in explaining temporal orientation of self-referencing

A psychological process called self-referencing justifies the use of ‘you’ statements in advertisements; the more an individual relates an ad to him/herself, the greater the likelihood of recall and favorable evaluation. Self-referencing can be differentiated based on the temporal dimension of the self being activated while processing advertisements: when people remember themselves in the past they engage in retrospective self-referencing whereas they engage in anticipatory self-referencing when imagining themselves in the future. The current study examined the moderating role of consumers’ cultural background (i.e. long-term vs. short-term orientation) on the effects of temporal orientation of self-referencing. A corollary of this premise is that the match between cultural time orientation and the type of self-referencing activated by an ad will increase the extent of viewers’ self-referencing as well as advertising effectiveness. Further, this study confirmed a mediating role of self-referencing in explaining the match effects. The findings inform the extant literature on self-referencing and also provide managerial implications for international advertising practitioners.

从许渊冲诗歌翻译看文化转基因的体现

诗歌属于文学体裁的一个分支,讲求音韵、形式和意境,因此很难被成功地传译到另一种语言中去。文化翻译观的领军人之一巴斯奈特(Susan Bassnet)认为诗歌翻译是种子移植,其实质就是一种文化基因转换,即:将原语主要特征的文化基因片在译入语中重组并符合译入语的表达规范。以古诗《游东田》及许渊冲的英译本为例,从音韵美、结构美和意境美三方面来分析译文中文化转基因的成功体现。

What price evidence? The ethics of office and the ethics of social science in British cultural policy

This paper considers the use of evidence for government decision-making using ethnographically informed data from the lived experiences of those involved in British cultural policy. It does this in order to engage and extend work that has sought to defend bureaucratic forms of activity. The paper offers an empirical case study of how the civil servants’ ethic of office [DuGay, P. (2008) ‘Max weber and the moral economy of office’, Journal of Cultural Economy, vol. 1, no. 2, pp. 129–144] is reinforced by the identity of the social scientist. The use of social science in policy advice is a moment where the bureaucrats are able to distance themselves from political decision-making, thus reasserting an important aspect of civil service practice and identity. However, as the latter part of the article illustrates, the dynamics of cultural policy-making, in particular the use of economics, situate the role of social science as paradoxical. It is both supportive and corrosive of the bureaucratic ethic. This paradox is the basis for a critical perspective on the ethic of office as deployed in contemporary government.
