This paper provides an overview of the contribution of Professor Geoffrey Sherington to the study of the history of Australian education and immigration. His academic and leadership roles are summarised and the main themes of his work are briefly discussed. These themes comprise: Australia as an immigrant nation, British colonial values and meritocracy, public, private, and corporate schooling, and the interconnectedness of educational institutions. These themes recur in the discussion below and are aimed at providing a context for the analyses and assessments of his major scholarly projects.  相似文献

我国"异地高考"政策一般采取"堵"的策略。各地纷纷出台的"高考移民"封堵政策应该说比较见效。近期对"异地高考"政策的松动也只是低层次的。深究之下不难发现,封堵政策的主要原因有两个:一是优质高等教育资源的区域配置不均衡;二是省际间高考招生分数线高低差别大,部分省省际内二本院校高考招生分数线不统一,不同地区不同分数线。"异地高考"政策让我们深层次反思教育公平问题。  相似文献

Much research is available that details student experiences of immigration and adaptation to receiving countries and schools, but few studies analyze the metaphors used by immigrant students (IS) when talking about the immigration experience, or offer a comparative lens through which to view identity negotiation in two very different contexts. The present paper aims to address these gaps by conducting a comparative linguistic analysis of 20 interviews conducted with IS at universities in South Africa and the United States in order to gain a greater understanding of immigration and the types of identity negotiation processes learners undergo in these very different countries. Findings reveal interesting similarities between metaphorical conceptions of immigration across different cultural contexts and a remarkable resilience in the use of adaptation strategies and identity development that leads to salient pedagogical implications for teachers of higher education who face increasingly international classrooms.  相似文献

1983—1987年对稻纵卷叶螟第1、2代,1983,1985年第5代成虫的迁入量进行了调究。结果表明,1,2代成虫迁入量主要与风向,风力等气候因素有密切关系。从4月份开始,当气温达到21℃以上时,连续吹4天以上风力为2~4.8m/s的东南风,将有成虫迁入。关于迁入量,随着吹东南风日数的增加而增加;198s年主峰出现于4月中旬至5月初,以第1代迁入为主;其余调查年份主峰均出现在5月中、下旬至6月初,以第2代迁入为主。晚稻田迁入者为第5代,时间在8月下旬至9月上旬.  相似文献

In 2016, approximately 5 million students, about 2% of global tertiary enrolments, studied abroad. As globalisation of education advances, tertiary student mobility is an important channel through which highly skilled immigrants arrive and work in different nation states. Informed by the multidisciplinary internationalisation frameworks, this study applies social network analysis techniques to the UNESCO data, to explore and compare the international tertiary student mobility networks in 1999 and in 2012. Based on the network visualisation and statistical analyses, this research emphasises that an individual country’s economic and political power and geographic location are increasingly significant in determining its position in the network. Compared to the 1999 networks, the developing world has played a more important role in the networks by becoming the new destination for study and sending out more students. Yet it is still the economically leading nations that serve as the critical bridges connecting the less developed countries/regions to the world. Underneath the seemingly balanced development, the developing nations might be in a more disadvantaged and peripheral position in 2012. This study is concluded with a discussion of the brain drain issue and how various nation states confront it in light of the global flow of tertiary students.  相似文献
