Diversity Literary Awards: A Tool for Assessing an Academic Library’s Collection

Abstract

Diversity literary awards and other sources were used to create a list of high-quality titles written by and about underrepresented groups. This list was used to assess the diversity and inclusiveness of the library collections of a land-grant university in the Pacific Northwest and compare it to peer institutions. Gaps in the collection and acquisition processes were identified and will be used to improve the processes to increase the number of diverse titles added to the library’s collections.

The Provision for Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE) and Citizenship in School-based Elements of Primary Initial Teacher Education

This small-scale research study looks at the PSHE/Citizenship framework and the opportunities for student teachers to understand and experience within school the relationship between values, personal and social development and learning. A questionnaire was given to two sets of student teachers on their final school-based placements. The research suggests that there needs to be greater recognition of the centrality of multi-cultural awareness and understanding within the political literacy section of the PSHE/Citizenship framework. This is the counterpart to a previous study of the opportunities for values education within the university-based elements of Primary Initial Teacher Education ( Mead, 2003 ).     

大学生生活方式及健康状况研究

当代大学生是本世纪初、中期的主要生力军,也是社会不同领域中各层次人才的主要来源.通过对高校大学生形态、机能、血红蛋白测试及从睡眠、视力、锻炼等生活方式的问卷调查,发现我院男大学生血红蛋白指数较高,营养状况较好,同时,还发现睡眠时间不够充分、近视患病率高等一些影响健康的不利因素.     

体育与人类健康的社会学分析

从WHO健康观视角，就体育对人类健康的意义进行了阐述。     

新世纪我国学校体育的发展趋势

运用文献资料、访谈等研究方法，对我国学校体育在新世纪的发展趋势进行了探讨，提出我国学校体育在新世纪将注重“以人为本”，“健康第一”，注重学生个性化发展及与奥林匹克运动文化相融合等发展趋势。     

高校健康教育的实施与改革

针对我国高校健康教育现状及存在的问题，就健康的完整概念、高校健康教育的内容、高校健康教育的方法和健康教育的改革途径进行了论述，以期全面科学地提高大学生的健康水平。     

论学校体育教育中的心理健康教育

运用文献资料法、调查法从分析大学生心理的现状出发,对心理健康的标准、大学生心理健康的培养途径进行了深入的探讨,认为体育运动是发展学生心理健康的物质基础和动力,体育运动能推动自我意识的发展,培养意志品质。并针对学生存在的心理问题,提出了相应的教育措施。     

中学女生体育与健康课“退避”行为探析

对目前中学女生体育与健康课中普遍存在的“退避”行为进行分析，并提出相应的对策。
