Money Doesn’t Talk,It Swears: The Wolf of Wall Street as a Homology for America’s Ambivalent Attitude on Financial Excess

Audiences have praised and criticized Martin Scorsese’s film The Wolf of Wall Street since its release. Despite projecting a portrait of Wall Street greed, the film’s cultural reception demonstrates a public ambiguously mesmerized by a wealthy individual and his “get rich quick” philosophy. This article argues that Scorsese’s film and rhetoric from the real Jordan Belfort act as a homology for America’s ambivalent attitude on the hegemonic power of money and celebrity. Connecting rhetorical homologies to Raymond Williams’s structure of feeling, this article illustrates how personal and public attitudes are constituted through a text’s form and content.     

Assessing math attitude through the Attitude Toward Mathematics Inventory – Short form in introductory statistics course students

Math attitude refers to emotional responses, beliefs, and behaviors towards mathematics. Several studies measured the relation with math learning and related variables, but very few with statistics learning. To better investigate this relation has become increasingly relevant to have a measure that ensuring multidimensionality and shortness. The aim of the present paper was to confirm the factor structure of the Lin and Huang (2014)'s ATMI - Short Form (ATMI - SF) when administered to Italian college students attending introductory statistics course, and to test its measurement invariance applying a multigroup confirmatory analysis. We also assessed the reliability and the incremental validity of the ATMI - SF by verifying whether it predicted statistics achievement over and above the effect of math knowledge. The overall findings provide that ATMI - SF is a reliable and valid measure to assess math attitude among college students who attend introductory statistics courses in non-mathematical courses.     

How do student and classroom characteristics affect attitude toward mathematics? A multivariate multilevel analysis

This study investigated the effects of student and classroom characteristics on math self-confidence, perceived usefulness, and enjoyment of mathematics as multiple outcomes. A sample of 7th-grade students from 78 classes of 49 schools was studied. The data were collected using, among other instruments, an attitude questionnaire. The results of the multivariate multilevel analysis showed that the variance of the 3 indicators was situated mostly at the student level, and that the indicators correlated strongly at the class level. Higher prior mathematics achievement and positive parental beliefs and attitudes were significant predictors of higher scores across the 3 indicators. Each of the baseline indicators was significantly associated with its corresponding final indicator. At the classroom level, classroom assessment was significantly associated with less endorsement of all 3 indicators, higher levels of classroom modeling with greater endorsement of perceived usefulness of mathematics, and classroom questioning with greater enjoyment of mathematics.     

课程改革前后医学生对基础科学的态度

该研究调查了荷兰乌得勒支大学医学中心课程改革前后医学生对基础科学的态度。结果表明，与旧课程的医学生相比，新课程的医学生认为医学知识并不那么重要，临床实践前并不需要掌握太多的生物学知识，他们更喜欢由临床医生讲授基础课。虽然医学生对基础课的重要性的认识并不全面，但他们更喜欢将基础科学和临床实践相结合的教学方法。

本文从"国故"的释名、学者对"整理国故"的不同态度和胡适整理国故的目的和方法及其实践效果等方面,全面、系统地论述了"整理国故"之争的前因后果,指出胡适对中国古籍用科学方法作出的全面整理,目的在"化玄妙为平常",用以"打鬼".本文并指出整理国故的正、负面效应及其现实意义,澄清了这次争论的种种迷雾.     

基于化学核心素养之“科学态度与社会责任”的评价与思考--2019年高考(天津卷)理科综合化学部分的分析与启示

学科核心素养是学科育人价值的集中体现,是学生通过学科学习而逐步形成的正确价值观念、必备品格和关键能力。"科学态度与社会责任"素养发展是用科学、合理、辩证的观点认识社会发展中各领域的问题,依据建立的化学视角,应用物质组成、性质和转化等相关知识分析解释环境、健康、材料和能源资源中涉及的相关问题,形成可持续发展的核心观念;应用物质转化、反应原理的知识解决生活问题,依据可持续发展的核心观念做出科学合理的决策。本文在分析2019年高考(天津卷)理科综合化学部分试题特点并对考生的作答表现进行诊断性评价的基础上,重点提出提升"科学态度与社会责任"学科核心素养的教学建议,为发展学生学科素养提供参考。     

Narrative Persuasion 2.0: Transportation in Participatory Websites

This research applies narrative persuasion theory to participatory websites. Specifically, the study examines the joint effect of online review structure (narrative/nonnarrative) and source attributes (expert/nonexpert) on attitude strength (attitude certainty and intensity). Results demonstrate that source attributes moderate the relationship between transportation and attitude intensity but not attitude certainty. These findings advance transportation theory by illuminating that readers glean source attributes on participatory websites, and these attributes modify transportation effects. The findings offer implications for participatory websites and design features that may facilitate or hinder readers in their quest to make decisions based on the reviews they read.

高度计姿态角估计算法误差分析

星载雷达高度计依靠对海面回波的跟踪测量卫星到海面的距离,卫星平台的姿态角会显著影响高度计的回波形状,从而带来指向误差。本文推导了利用高度计回波跟踪反演姿态角的两种算法（两点法和线性回归法）,并对它们进行了误差分析。然后通过蒙特卡洛仿真评估了算法的性能,并对理论分析进行了验证。最后,对算法的实现进行了进一步讨论。
