The effects of sex education on psychological counselling students in Turkey

Sex education is not included in Turkey’s national curriculum and is rarely referenced in school and university curricula. This is even true for those undertaking training in psychological counselling where the need may be great. Only a very few university schools of education offer an elective sex education course. A group of 64 guidance and psychological counselling students in ?stanbul Maltepe University was formed and provided with a 13-week sex education course. Before and after this course, the Sexual Attitudes Scale (SAS) was used for data collection using a semi-experimental design. Significant differences were detected between pretest and post-test SAS scores and on all SAS subscales. Results show that comprehensive sex education is effective in positively changing the sexual attitudes of PC students, challenging homophobic responses and displacing patriarchal attitudes. Based on these findings, the provision of sex education courses more generally in university schools of education is recommended, especially in conservative countries such as Turkey.     

试论建立生物资源国际集体管理制度

在生物资源国际合作开发中，由于缺乏合理的市场化机制以及国际合作模式，使得基于生物资源而产生的惠益在发展中国家和发达国家之间没有得到合理的分配。本试图通过借用作权领域内的集体管理概念，以构建生物资源国际集体管理制度，以解决上述矛盾。     

贵州蒲桃资源分布及生物学特性

蒲桃是一种具有较高经济效益和生态效益的亚热带果树。其果实营养全面丰富，口感香甜，Vb1、Vb2及Ca、P、Mg、Zn的含量远远高于一般水果。蒲桃在贵州主要分布在黔北的赤水河，习水河流域的下游地区和黔南罗旬地区，分布面积大约3.3万hm2,目前年产量约20万kg.蒲桃具有喜温、喜湿、对光照要求不严、喜酸性或微酸性土壤、对土壤肥力要求不高的生态特征。本文并对蒲桃的生物学性状作了较详细的记述。     

The prevalence and seriousness of incestuous abuse: Stepfathers vs. biological fathers

Analysis of interviews obtained from a random sample of 930 adult women in San Francisco revealed that 17% or one out of approximately every six women who had a stepfather as a principal figure in her childhood years, was sexually abused by him. The comparable figures for biological fathers were 2% or one out of approximately 40 women. In addition, when a distinction was made between Very Serious Sexual Abuse (including experiences ranging from forced penile-vaginal penetration to non-forceful attempted fellatio, cunnilingus, and anal intercourse) and other less serious forms, 47% of the cases of sexual abuse by stepfathers were at the Very Serious level of violation compared with 26% by biological fathers. Possible explanations for these startling discrepancies are discussed, and some of the implications for remarriage are considered.     

The Effects of Sex and Gender Role Orientation on Approach-Based Coping Strategies Across Cultures: A Moderated Mediation Model

This study explores the mediation effect of gender role orientation on the influence of sex on coping strategies and how the mediation effects differ across the two cultures of the United States and China. A total of 478 respondents (243 Americans and 235 resident Chinese) participated in this study. Employing Hayes’ (2013) PROCESS for testing moderated mediation models using conditional process analysis, we found that femininity mediated the influence of sex on both emotional and instrumental coping, and the mediation effects were significantly different between American participants and Chinese participants. We also found that national culture moderated the influence of sex on coping strategies when gender role orientation was being held constant. This study adopts an integrated model of sex, gender role orientation, culture, and coping. This model allows us to examine both general and specific relationships among interested variables, which contributes to existing literature in several ways.

环境工程专业《废水生物处理新技术》课程教学探讨

《废水生物处理新技术》作为环境工程专业非常重要的一门选修课旨在《水污染控制》专业课的基础上对国内外废水生物处理新技术做一个全面的介绍。因此对授课教师的知识水平、教学能力及学生的专业基础要求颇高。本文探讨了该课程的性质和目的,课程的主要内容,教学过程中存在的问题及解决措施,为高校环境工程专业开设这门选修课的授课教师及教学研究人员提供有价值的参考。     

Sex differences in people and things orientation are reflected in sex differences in academic publishing

Sex differences in people and things orientation have been reported in a range of psychobehavioural domains. Females, on average, score higher than males on people orientation, while males, on average, score higher than females on things orientation. In this article, I reanalyse recent data on sex differences in academic publishing using Scopus journal articles from 2017 (n = 27,710 articles in India; n = 285,619 articles in the US). The results show that in both India (r_s = –.71) and the United States (r_s = –.69), women were more prevalent as the first authors of articles in more people-oriented fields than in fields that were more things-oriented, which had a high proportion of male first authors. The findings indicate that there are similar cross-national patterns between US and India in field-specific female-to-male author ratios when factoring in the people and things orientation of those fields. Where the people and things dimension fails to explain sex differences in academic publishing, sex differences in the empathising–systemising quotients may explain residual variation in sex differences in research subject choices. The findings reported here extend existing psychobehavioural, developmental, and evolutionary research on sex differences in interests and cognitive styles.     

喀什地区生态足迹计算与探讨

运用生态足迹法对喀什地区的生态承载力进行分析,得出喀什地区的人均生态承载力为1.26954 hm2,人均生态足迹足迹为4.4001 hm2,人均生态赤字为3.1305 hm2,喀什地区人均生态足迹需求远远高于人均生态承载力,生态赤字严重化,对此提出提高土地单位面积的产量,调整该区域进出口贸易等对策.     

Spanish Language Children and Teen Books Focusing on Human Sexuality and Reproductive Health

Talking to children and teens about sexuality is difficult for most parents, especially for those whose primary language is Spanish. Teens who come to the United States from Spanish speaking countries are also at a disadvantage because of a language barrier. Many times there is a lack of high quality Spanish materials that have been reviewed on the topic of sex and reproductive health. There are serious consequences of unplanned teen pregnancies to communities such as poverty, low educational attainment and other health disparities. This bibliography reviews human sexuality titles in Spanish for both children and teens. Professionals in the healthcare or medical libraries, school librarians, public librarians and academic librarians will find this bibliography valuable for the purposes of educating the public and developing their institution’s collection.
