高校英语报刊教学探究

英文报刊阅读教学在整个高校英语教学过程中十分重要。着重探讨了高校教师如何为大学生营造一个良好的英语学习环境,并归纳了报刊教学方法,进而使报刊教学不仅停留在课堂上,而且深入到实际生活中。     

基于CVM价值评估法的高校图书馆投资回报分析

通过借鉴社会资源价值评估中的CVM法,运用消费者剩余理论对高校图书馆的经济价值进行评估,以山西医科大学图书馆为例,通过问卷形式展开调查,运用数理统计方法对调查数据进行统计分析,并测算了图书馆的投资回报率,探索评估高校图书馆经济价值的方法,并对其发展提供理论及数据支持.     

论我国食品致敏原标示制度的完善简

食品致敏原标示是食品安全管理法律体系的组成部分,在发达国家属于强制性规范的范畴。而我国从立法者到普通民众都未对食物过敏风险及其防范予以充分重视,现行的致敏原标示规范的立法层级较低,缺乏强制机制和激励机制,对消费者的警示不足。要保障消费者的知情选择权和消费安全权,应建立致敏原强制标示制度并强化经营者的警示义务。     

A Patient-centered Approach to Breaking Bad News: Communication Guidelines for Health Care Providers

This investigation takes a patient-centered approach to examining strategies physicians use to deliver bad news to patients. Qualitative data were obtained from 68 patients who had received a message they perceived as negative information from a health care provider. Through grounded theory methodology, patient accounts were examined to reveal four provider strategies for breaking bad news. This investigation underscores the importance of using effective communication strategies to achieve patient satisfaction and compliance.     

POLITICS OF LOCAL INTERLIBRARY COOPERATION

Social and political issues are key factors in developing cooperation among public libraries. Experiences in public library cooperation have shown that the acceptance of cooperation as an ideal, patron reaction and acceptance, local pride and control, and the education and cooperation of the library board, local government officials, and funding agencies are all important in providing the best possible framework for cooperation. The commitment to and understanding of the implications, changes, and modifications that cooperation requires are also important. Realization that interpretation of what cooperation means and that unequal contributions can be expected are necessary steps in developing effective arrangements among public libraries.     

Are Information Seekers and Users Among the General Public at a Crossroads?

Abstract

Presently, eating disorders affect millions of people. Today, the media and the Internet are major publishing channels for consumer health information. Much research has found that the media may offer insufficient information on eating disorders. This research examines the quantity of adult consumer health publications on eating disorders in magazine articles and on the Internet in 1998 and investigates the effectiveness of Internet search engines. The results indicate that the resources found in popular magazines and on the Internet are not adequate, and that the Internet search engines are not effective in searching for information.     

The Creation and Maintenance of a Hospital Archives

The libraries of the Capital Health System and York Hospital have been given the responsibility for collecting and maintaining the archival materials of their respective institutions. After an initial evaluation of donated items, each library researched methods of archival conservation, adapting them to their individual needs. Included in this article is an overview of these methods with many examples from the authors' experiences. Also included is an annotated bibliography of materials of value to anyone setting up a hospital archives.     

Sharing MedlinePlus®/MEDLINE® for Information Literacy Education (SMILE): A Dental Public Health Information Project

The SMILE project represented a partnership among the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Libraries, the Gateway Clinic in Laredo, and the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District. The project focused on improving dental practitioners' access to reliable information resources and integrating the best evidence into public health dental practice. Through its training program, SMILE cultivated a set of “power information users” among the dentists, dental hygienists, and community health workers (promotores) who provided public health preventive care and oral health education. The dental public health practitioners gained information literacy skills and increased their knowledge about reliable sites such as blogs, PubMed®, and MedlinePlus®. This project fostered opportunities for expanded partnerships with public health personnel.     

JOURNALISM EMBRACING ADVERTISING AS TRADITIONAL JOURNALISM DISCOURSE BECOMES MARGINAL

The border between journalism and marketing communication is diminishing and media such as television and magazines are especially vulnerable to the colonisation of traditional journalistic genres by promotional information. From the point of view of audience perception, grouping certain media channels or discourses into “journalistic” and others into “promotional” or “mixed” would provide a certain level of predictability, as well as a basis for their judgement of information. However, we argue here that category confusion takes place even inside sub-sectors of niche magazines. The objective of this international comparative research is to analyse the editorial ideologies and discursive practices concerning the hybridisation of media discourse in one media sector: the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events (MICE) sub-sector of niche magazines. Can these magazines be identified as “journalistic”, “advert” or “mixed” oriented media? The empirical research is focused on the production process (the implementation of editorial principles) in key MICE magazines mainly in European countries.
