This article theorizes the historical non-relation between cultural studies and economic rights discourse, tracing it to ideal typical distinctions between economy and culture in early cultural studies; Karl Marx's influence on Left thought generally via his critique of bourgeois rights; and Foucauldian governmentalist treatments of rights as neoliberal technologies of control and treatments of economy as having no agency of its own but rather as an effect of governmentality. It then introduces a case-study conjunctural history of American economic rights as a history of present American citizenship and politics in order to demonstrate the historically contingent articulations of individual freedom, government, and economic relations, which are not easily explained by the Marxist or Foucauldian vocabularies. The conjunctural history provides cultural studies research with a new perspective for attention to radical democracy and critiques of neoliberal capitalist policies without surrendering the utility of rights to (neo)liberalism. 相似文献

In this paper we propose a Cultural Psychology approach to teacher knowledge which assumes that: 1) mental representations are directly observable, and 2) the relationship between different kinds of representations is co-mediational. The paper sets out such an approach, providing arguments to support these two alternative premises; outlining a methodology, based on social linguistics, for the direct observation of representations; and articulating the relationship between three types of representations: situational representations, specific propositional representations, and general propositional representations. Although science centres and museums are important educational resources, school trips to these places are not often conducted in a manner that could maximise learning. In addressing this issue, a Framework for Museum Practice (FMP) is proposed, derived from the perspectives of Cultural Historical Activity Theory, theories of intrinsic motivation, and research into conceptual learning. It is hypothesised that this theoretically derived framework, if implemented by museum educators, can potentially lead to the creation of resources for teachers that would enable them to make better use of the learning opportunities afforded by school trips, and to maximise the impact on pupil learning, including their affective experience. This paper also describes how the framework was used to guide the development of resources to be used in conjunction with a science museum trip. The resources were tested by two primary school teachers and their classes, and the data were analysed for evidence of teacher and student behaviour consistent with the design principles in the FMP. Findings lend some empirical support for the FMP and suggest that it may offer a guide for the development of museum‐provided resources, which would have the potential to improve the utilisation by teachers of informal science institutions and, consequently, their impact on pupil learning. 相似文献

Attendance at cram schools is an experience that the majority of Taiwanese have while growing up. However, the incidence and impact of cram schooling are still understudied and have yet received much attention. In this paper, I first illustrate the development of cram schools in Taiwan, and demonstrate the important changes on institutional factors and legitimacy of cram schools. Then I use data collected by Taiwan Education Panel Survey to investigate the net effect of cram schooling on students’ academic performance, and to test whether the opportunity of cram school participation reflects specific patterns of stratification.Empirical results indicate that cram schooling does matter: attending cram schools has a significantly positive effect on a student's analytical ability and mathematical performance. However, cram school participation does not reflect specific patterns of social stratification: the opportunity of going to a cram school for a male student is not significantly different from that of a female; the effects of family background on students’ cram school participation are not as critical as they were in the past. 相似文献

通过文献资料综述法、比较法,对体育舞蹈与健美操的技术风格、人文背景和形体姿态、音乐、服饰、舞韵等舞美要素进行比较分析,结果发现:健美操由体操动作的韵律化而产生,注重动作姿态的规格,在力道上追求大方、开放,更加侧重外在美,在人文内涵上相对单一,节奏明快、激昂;体育舞蹈动作技巧精细,注重情感表达,力道隐忍、含蓄,在审美取向上更加侧重内外美的结合,有较强的情节性和叙事性,音乐风格特点各异,表达的思想内涵丰富.二者在技术特点和审美方面既有区别,又有联系,学习中可以相互借鉴,相互吸收. 相似文献
