大学文化理念与大学文化建设——大连大学文化理念的解读

大学文化理念是大学文化的核心部分,先进的大学文化理念是大学文化建设的先导。在改革创新的时代背景下,创新大学文化理念就成为新时期大学文化建设的首要任务。根据对现代高等教育的发展趋势和现代教育思想的把握,大连大学先后提出了"让人人都成功"、"让人人都快乐"的文化理念,努力提炼与打造独树一帜的大学文化。本文从成功与快乐的关系、快乐的含义、如何获得快乐三方面来着重解读连大"让人人都快乐"的文化理念。     

金庸小说的政治解读及其历史反思

金庸先生早年有过政治追求,但在其中青年时期因为时代原因没能参与实际政治工作.金庸后来把他的政治见解融入到武侠小说中,因此他的一部分小说有着强烈的政治意蕴.从中我们可以看到他对权力腐蚀人性的揭示,对起义目的与手段异化的痛心与警觉,对文革荒诞的批判,对无谓冲突的感慨,对由仇恨走向和解的呼唤等内容.金庸小说的政治意蕴加强了金庸小说作为文学经典的地位.     

“如果狼来了”的三种文化模型的阐释

“如果狼来了,我们要怎么办？”这是一个假设性的纯生物性命题。但是,类似“如果狼来了,我们要怎么办？”这样的社会性命题,并没有过时。“如果狼来了”,我们将会有三种方案可供选择：其一是纷纷躲藏,明哲保身;其二是纷纷起来抗争;其三是有些人起来抗争,有些人躲藏起来,还有些人为了能够自保,不惜卖身求荣。这三种选择方案,将会产生三种截然不同的结果,进而形成三种文化模型。     

Connecting Community Voices: Using a Latino/a Critical Race Theory Lens on Environmental Justice Advocacy

Abstract

This study examines the contested space of environmental inequity and demonstrates how engaged intercultural communication research can be used to put forth seldom heard cultural environmental meaning systems. In an attempt to bridge ecojustice–environmentalist divides, we use Latino Critical Race Theory (LatCrit) to understand and promote practices of Hispanic communities enacting environmental justice and cultural activism. We also exemplify the value of an explicit focus on the role of race in environmental issues for communication scholarship.     

On the Spot: Seeking Acceptance and Expressing Resistance through the Bindi

Abstract

Originally indicative of adherence to Hindu spirituality, the bindi is gaining popularity beyond Indian shores as a trendy fashion accessory. This paper attempts a discursive analysis of the bindi as a performative indicator of acquiescence to the Indian way of life, and as a symbol of resistance to assert individuality and femininity in the pursuit of larger sociopolitical action. Research findings indicate that although it was once considered a quintessential symbol of Indian womanhood, the bindi as a performative identifier has evolved beyond religious significance to include Indo chic, political affiliation, pseudo spiritual identification, as well as feminism and social activism.     

Taiwan's Fifth Ethnic Group: A Study of the Acculturation and Cultural Fusion of Women who have Married into Families in Taiwan

Abstract

One of the under-studied effects of global migration has been an increase in transnational marriages. This phenomenon has greatly impacted Taiwan as women from Southeast Asian nations and Mainland China, through professional marriage brokers or personal contacts, enter into marriages with Taiwanese men. How well these women adapt to Taiwan's culture and learn its local languages is studied through the lens of two theories of intercultural communication: Kim's theory of cross-cultural adaptation and Kramer's theory of cultural fusion. Based upon in-depth interviews with 28 women, results show some support for both theories. However, the postulates of cultural fusion demonstrate a better fit: Learning is an additive process; long-term association with co-ethnics appears to correlate with greater satisfaction and adaptation; and women's negotiated identities follow a range of outcomes.     

《夏日》——重现的镜子

2009年发表的《夏日》,是库切继《男孩》和《青春》之后的又一部自传作品,从而也构成了他的“自传三部曲”。而《夏日》也如同一面重现的镜子,年近古稀的作家在此真诚地回顾了盛年时初登文坛的自我。通过文中那些虚构的事实,众多他者主观性视角的叙述,库切拒绝了任何关于本质版本的自我建构．其个性气质的内容也不断从中突显出来,作家多重的文化身份在这里不断地协商、演现,而这些也给他的写作带来了巨大的意义。     

文化和谐论与国家语言发展战略

文章在阐述文化和谐论的主要观点及其核心的前提下探讨这一理论是否可以成为国家语言文化发展战略的理论基础。其可能性可以从三大方面理解:(一)文化和谐论可以促进中国语言文化的繁荣与发展;(二)国家语言发展战略是国家文化发展战略的重要组成部分;(三)国家语言文字的和谐发展需要文化和谐论。(三)又可以从三个重要方面来看:(1)国家语言文字事业改革发展需要文化和谐论;(2)汉语国际传播需要文化和谐论;(3)处理好各种语言关系需要文化和谐论。在对当前的一些不和谐语言文字现象进行分析的基础上最后指出,文化和谐论强调和谐,但并不回避冲突和斗争,这一理论的目标是要在全球多语多文化的背景下与世界人民一起共同建设世界民族多样文化的共同家园,与此同时,在我国丰富的文化语言基础上,在两岸四地建设中华民族精神的共同家园。     

Cultural analyses in a Taiwanese kindergarten: A postcolonial reflection and study

The concept of homogenization is highlighted in the current discourse of postcolonialism in the educational arena. However, this concept strengthens the dimension of cultural convergence, but not the dimension of cultural divergence. Furthermore, an overly dualistic view is also aligned with the concept of homogenization and then leads to the neglect of the phenomenon of cultural hybridity and the studies of cultural differences. Through a qualitative study in a Taiwanese kindergarten, this study investigates whether any cultural hybridity appears in classroom practices, and what happens in the process. The results indicate that the concept of cultural hybridity is more suitable to explain the complex phenomena in schools, and both the ontologically and epistemologically cultural aspects are interwoven in the process of hybridity. According to the results, I propose a three-stage framework to interpret the development of hybridity: the extent of the matched context, the extent of cultural conflict, and the awareness of cultural difference.     

Towards Cultural Competency with a Latino Community: A Cross-Cultural Teaching Model

Social work programs that prepare students for culturally competent practice rely on the principle that cultural identity and differences are positive; and that social work services need to be delivered in ways which are culturally acceptable to clients and enhance their ethnic group participation and power. Cross-cultural experiences facilitate the development of cultural competence. Equipping students in the necessary affective, cognitive, and behavioral areas for cross-cultural learning and competent practice call for teaching approaches that capitalize on the adult learning process; and where meaningful learning can be transformed to a learning process beyond the academic experience. This paper presents a cross-cultural teaching model designed to facilitate a culturally transformative learning process within the classroom and with the Hartford Latino Community in Connecticut.
