The Communication of Community Collaboration: When Rhetorical Visions Collide

Recently, community coalitions have grown in size, scope, and popularity in response to increasing demands for community-based involvement. Despite this trend, little is known about the ubiquitous role communication plays in the creation of community coalition missions, goals, and enactment practices. In addition, few studies have focused on the symbolic discourse of vital, active community groups. This study examines how coalition members have symbolically converged around a shared vision, which has unintentionally affected group sustenance. Fantasy theme analysis identifies two distinct visions in competition with one another, highlighting possible group dysfunction and decline. This communicative analysis of the group's symbolic life, coupled with a practical look into group effectiveness, bridges the gap between functionalist and interpretive approaches to studying organizational groups.     

Pedagogy,information and communications technology and teachers' professional knowledge

In this article UK governmental policy imperatives to apply new forms of information and communications technology (ICT) to school improvement are explored, with particular reference to the National Curriculum for England and Wales. The analysis juxtaposes the piecemeal, random way in which ICT is used in National Curriculum programmes of study and schemes of work with the government rhetoric that requires coherent planning and integration of ICT within all aspects of teaching learning. The article argues that this contradiction within the policy process could be overcome if a stronger conceptualization of teachers' professional knowledge was embraced. An example of such a conceptualization is presented and this is exemplified by accounts of teachers' development of ICT within their pedagogic practice.     

Curriculum development for professional ethics in Australian human service university programmes

Australian academics and practitioners in the human services are particularly susceptible to social, political and economic influences in respect of their relevance, viability and operations. In fact, it can be argued that the impact of these influences has placed human service practitioners and academics in a perpetual state of vulnerability. Australian universities have been challenged to make their programmes more relevant and viable to the community at large, and practitioners face increasing workloads with limited resources based on restricted fiscal allocation, and the changing relationship between government and service providers. Drawing on interview data from twenty-one (n = 21) practitioners, this article highlights their identified problems regarding the notion of professionalism in the human services with a particular focus on ethical dilemmas in human service practice. Gleaning these details will be a basis for recommending necessary professionalethics curricula content in human services programmes offered in Australian universities. Moreover, while the research data is Australian based, the authors contend that the universal theories and principles underpinning human service practice justify the significance and value of the data as an important source for international consideration in curriculum development of human service academic programmes.     

The Emotional Side of Forgiveness: A Cross-Cultural Investigation of the Role of Anger and Compassion and Face Threat in Interpersonal Forgiveness and Reconciliation

This study examined the dynamic interplays between emotions (i.e., anger and compassion), face threat, forgiveness, and reconciliation in relational transgressions in U.S. and Chinese cultures. Results indicated that Chinese participants reported more relationship-oriented forgiveness than U.S. participants, but no distinction was uncovered in self-oriented forgiveness. Results also showed that, relative to preforgiveness, there was less postforgiveness anger but more postforgiveness compassion in both cultures. Anger had a negative association, but compassion had a positive association, with forgiveness and reconciliation in both cultures. Perceived face threat first evoked initial emotions, which influenced forgiveness and counterinfluenced reactive emotions, which then affected reconciliation.

礼貌在交际中扮演着十分关键的角色,与人际关系的建立和维护紧密相关。作为语用学、社会语言学等相关领域中的重要议题,礼貌研究经历了研究范式的变化。针对第二波礼貌研究缺少能将各种颇具价值的观点融合于一体的理论框架,KádárHaugh(2013)提出了礼貌实践观。该理论以"社会实践""时间"与"社会空间"为核心概念,首次将礼貌界定为一种评价性社会实践,为多视角理解礼貌提供了具有一定操作性的分析框架,代表礼貌研究的最新发展成果。本文在诠释礼貌实践观的基础上,探讨该理论与其他经典礼貌理论之间的异同以及不足,并对未来礼貌研究进行展望。

浅析语用礼貌在对外经贸英语函电中的运用

英国学者G．N．Leech的礼貌原则(Politeness Principle)以及Brown和Levinson的礼貌理论的研究对象多以会话为主，笔者认为其理论和成果也同样适用于书面语体。本文以该理论为依据，分析礼貌原则和礼貌理论在外经贸英语函电中的运用和表现，探讨外贸函电的语言特点与礼貌原则的关系，并提出在运用礼貌原则时应考虑社会、文化等因素的制约，合理采用礼貌策略。     

对学校课余训练培养高水平后备人才的探索与研究

对我国10多个省市近20几所试点校及传统校的管理模式、学训之间的关系、招生和学生就业之间的关系、后勤保障和经费的来源、投入及使用情况等多个方面进行全面的调查并分析，着重对篮球队伍的建设、发展，提出相应的对策。     

基于Adaboost的人脸光照补偿方法

针对传统Adaboost人脸检测算法中光照不均匀、图像检测正确率低的问题,提出一种基于Adaboost算法的人脸光照补偿检测方法。介绍Adaboost人脸检测算法的处理流程以及直方图均衡化原理,并将Adaboost算法和直方图均衡化相结合,实现人脸检测。检测结果表明,与传统的Adaboost人脸检测方法相比,新方法对于光照不均匀图像的人脸检测有很好的效果。     

背向滑步推铅球的衔接技术

衔接技术是铅球投掷技术的重要环节，是沟通滑步技术与最后用力技术的关键。恰当地把握这一项技术环节是完整推铅球技术的核心。衔接技术又叫过渡步技术，近几年来，对优秀运动员推铅球的衔接技术有适当的分析。本文在前人实验的基础上，对衔接技术进行综合分析，目的在于正确阐明衔接技术的要领，衔接技术与滑步技术、预行速度、重心移动轨迹等之间存在的关系，从而使整体技术更加符合运动技术原理，利于提高运动成绩。
