The OHDEP Project: Creating a Shared Catalog for the Northeast Ohio Depository

In 2011, the Northeastern Ohio Cooperative Regional Library Depository completed a pilot project that created a shared catalog for depository holdings. The project, coordinated by the Northeastern Ohio Cooperative Regional Library Depository Implementation Group, has paved the way for the remaining four Ohio depositories to contribute their depository holdings to the shared catalog. This paper describes the motivation for the project and the planning, implementation, and impact of a shared catalog on depository workflow and service at the Northeast Ohio Regional Depository. It also highlights implications for the improved storage capacity through statewide deduplication projects.     

The Digital Transformation of Special Collections

ABSTRACT

The effect of digital technology on special collections has been profound and ongoing. The purpose of this article is to explore the effect born digital materials, digitization, and intellectual property have had on special collections in the 21st century. In particular this study will focus on how archival materials have been significantly transformed by interacting with digital technology—providing both challenges in management and opportunities for new online environments to expose this content worldwide. Finally, a research experiment underway at the University of Virginia Library offers a framework that may help highlight some strategies for exploiting new opportunities going forward.

建筑工程技术专业教学资源库建设项目是教育部、财政部首批启动的11个专业教学资源库之一。该项目通过机制创新,使建设项目成为一个完整、有序、高效运行的有机系统,调动了参建人员的积极性,保证了资源库建设的进度和质量。     

论民办高校院校研究水平的提升策略

民办高校在发展过程中存在着诸多障碍,究其原因,管理水平落后是一个重要因素。"院校研究"引入我国已近30年,对推动我国高等教育发展和提升高校管理水平起到了重要作用。文章通过探讨院校研究的相关内容,分析了我国民办高校院校研究工作中存在的问题,提出了确保院校研究作用发挥,解决民办高校发展问题,推动民办高校健康持续发展的对策。     

后危机时代越南外资银行监管策略分析——以新制度经济学为视角

基于越南金融危机期间外资银行的负面作用回顾,应用新制度经济学的外在制度与内在制度辩证关系原理,剖析外资银行监管失灵的根源。研究表明,越南长期忽视外资银行内部治理的非正式制度建设,伦理治理机制缺失造成监管结构失衡,从而引发道德风险。因此要强化内外双重治理,重视内部制度建设,才能实现后危机时代外资银行治理结构的稳定,提高监管的专业性和有效性。     

“文化大革命”起因探讨——基于制度经济学的制度缺失的视角

文化大革命是我们社会主义进程中的一个重大事件,值得永久性地反思。现有的研究局限于政治学的视角,未能深刻揭示文化大革命的本质。新制度经济学的兴起也为文化大革命的深入研究提供了平台。基于新制度经济理论的视角,制度缺失是文化大革命的起因。内部制度缺失、外部制度缺失和代理人权威悬空是导致文化大革命的直接动因。     

Institutional abuse of children in the Austrian Catholic Church: Types of abuse and impact on adult survivors’ current mental health

The aim of this study was to explore the nature and dimensions of institutional child abuse (IA) by the Austrian Catholic Church and to investigate the current mental health of adult survivors. Data were collected in two steps. First, documents of 448 adult survivors of IA (M = 55.1 years, 75.7% men) who had disclosed their abuse history to a victim protection commission were collected. Different types of abuse, perpetrator characteristics, and family related risk factors were investigated. Second, a sample of 185 adult survivors completed the Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Checklist (PCL-C) and the Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI). Participants reported an enormous diversity of acts of violent physical, sexual, and emotional abuse that had occurred in their childhood. The majority of adult survivors (83.3%) experienced emotional abuse. Rates of sexual (68.8%) and physical abuse (68.3%) were almost equally high. The prevalence of PTSD was 48.6% and 84.9% showed clinically relevant symptoms in at least one 1 of 10 symptom dimensions (9 BSI subscales and PTSD). No specific pre-IA influence was found to influence the development of PTSD in later life (e.g. poverty, domestic violence). However, survivors with PTSD reported a significantly higher total number of family related risk factors (d = 0.33). We conclude that childhood IA includes a wide spectrum of violent acts, and has a massive negative impact on the current mental health of adult survivors. We address the long-term effects of these traumatic experiences in addition to trauma re-activation in adulthood as both bear great challenges for professionals working with survivors.     

新制度经济学视域下高校科技成果转化的制约因素与对策

促进高校科技成果转化,创新产学研合作模式,是新形势下高校实现自身内涵建设的迫切需要。教师的应用性研究动力不足,高校部分科技成果与市场和企业需求脱节、中试环节薄弱以及科技成果从实验室向现实生产力转化的中介乏力等因素,严重制约着高校科技成果的顺利转化。从新制度经济学视域出发,应从降低交易成本、提高个人收益率和建立有效的风险投资机制等方面采取措施,促进高校科技成果向现实生产力进行转化。     

高考制度变迁的多重逻辑与启示

高考制度自1977年恢复以来一直处于持续变革的状态。在一次次的改革中,始终存在着多方利益相关者,他们共同表达了多重利益诉求。不同的利益诉求背后蕴藏着不同的实践逻辑,多重逻辑相互交织,共同作用于高考变革的实践。高考制度变迁是利益博弈的逻辑、权力转变的逻辑等"外铄性"力量与坚守公平的自身逻辑等"内生性"力量相互作用下的变化过程。     

The Effects of Mass Media Use and Social Capital on Civic and Political Participation

More recently, many scholars have lamented the decline of social capital, civic and political participation in American society. This study attempts to clarify the concept of social capital and its major components. We differentiate two dimensions of social capital: trust and social connectedness. In addition, we investigate the differential effects of a full range of media use on civic and political participation.

Analysis of data from a telephone survey in Clarksville, Tennessee in 2002 showed that people's social connectedness enhances both civic and political participation. Time spent in reading newspaper and watching public affairs on television was positively correlated with political participation whereas frequency of Internet use and entertainment TV viewing was not. The results also showed no correlation between media use and civic participation. Implications of the findings for future research on democratic citizenship were discussed.
