Understanding consumer adoption of mobile payment in India: Extending Meta-UTAUT model with personal innovativeness,anxiety, trust,and grievance redressal

Mobile payments are the future as we move towards a cashless society. In some markets, cash is already being replaced by digital transactions, but consumers of many developing countries are slower in transition towards digital payments. This study aims to identify major determinants of consumer mobile payment adoption in India the country with second largest mobile subscribers in the world. Existing mobile payments adoption studies have predominantly utilised Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), which was primarily developed in organisational context and criticised for having deterministic approach without much consideration for users’ individual characteristics. Therefore, this study adapted meta-UTAUT model with individual difference variable attitude as core construct and extended the model with consumer related constructs such as personal innovativeness, anxiety, trust, and grievance redressal. Empirical examination of the model among 491 Indian consumers revealed performance expectancy, intention to use, and grievance redressal as significant positive predictor of consumer use behaviour towards mobile payment. Moreover, intention to use was significantly influenced by attitude, social influence, and facilitating conditions. The major contribution of this study includes re-affirming the central role of attitude in consumer adoption studies and examining usage behaviour in contrast to most existing studies, which examine only behavioural intention.     

Drug use amongst 12- and 13-year-olds attending emotional and behavioural difficulty units in Belfast

Abstract

This article reports on the findings from a survey of 12- and 13-year-old young people with statements of special educational needs who are attending emotional and behavioural difficulty units in Belfast. The existing literature in the area of special education suggests that a gap in contemporary empirical evidence for drug use behaviours of adolescents attending EBD units and other special educational facilities exists at present. In attempting to redress this knowledge gap, the findings from the present study support the opinions of commentators in the field that young people attending EBD units are at a high risk of illicit drug use in comparison with their contemporaries in mainstream school.     

英语水平对EFL学生交际策略使用影响的实证研究

经过实验,结果表明,策略的使用与学习者目标语水平息息相关,学习者的目标语水平会影响其交际策略的使用频率。与前人的研究结果有所不同的是,高水平者会比低水平者更频繁地使用策略;学习者的目标语水平也会影响其策略运用模式及其对策略类型的选择。笔者期望这一研究结果能对涉足交际策略教学领域的教学大纲制定者、教材编纂者及教师有所帮助。     

平等、自由、共享的图书馆权利时代-读《图书馆权利研究》

《图书馆权利研究》一书着重从读者公平、自由利用图书馆资源的角度,对图书馆权利进行了阐述,全书结构严谨,内容新颖丰富,基础理论坚实,资料宏富,语言明快。书中首先引证各类国际宣言对图书馆权利给出了中肯的界定,对于图书馆权利的研究,不仅借鉴了国外的案例,而且结合我国现有实际提出了新的构想。     

Communicating Prevention: The Effects of the keepin’ it REAL Classroom Videotapes and Televised PSAs on Middle-School Students’ Substance Use

This study sought to determine if exposure to two communication-oriented activities, videotapes and public service announcements, accounts for changes in substance use among adolescents participating in the Drug Resistance Strategies Project's keepin’ it REAL adolescent substance use prevention curriculum. Middle-school students (4,734, 72% Latino) responded to questionnaires related to these analyses. An analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) model was fit separately to six substance use outcomes. The results suggested that intervention students who saw four or five videos engaged in less substance use in the past month than did students who saw fewer videos. Having seen the PSAs one or more times did not predict the reported change in substance use.     

Commercial Library Decision Support Systems: An Analysis Based on Collection Managers' Needs

In the current environment of widely dispersed and disparate electronic data sources, collection managers increasingly need tools such as decision support systems to routinely perform common types of collection analysis: collection comparison, usage, package deals, and resource sharing. Four commercial decision support systems, Serials Solutions’ 360 Counter, Thomson Reuters’ Journal Use Reports, Swets’ ScholarlyStats, and Serials Solutions’ Ulrich's Serials Analysis System, are considered for their strengths in the above types of analysis and across five additional dimensions: Project COUNTER (Counting Online Usage of Networked Electronic Resources) reports supported, analysis tools, custom data sources supported, reporting features, and product support. Current issues and future trends are discussed.     

Factors Influencing Student Acceptance of Mobile Learning in Higher Education

The purpose of this study was to explore the acceptance of mobile learning by students in a higher education setting. The unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) was extended to include hedonic motivation, operationalized as enjoyment, as well as social influence in a field study involving the adoption of iPad mobile devices. Survey data were collected from 171 college students and analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicated that enjoyment and performance expectations were important factors influencing the acceptance of mobile learning in this context. For those engaged in the mobile learning pilot project upon which this study was based, the use of the UTAUT and the results provided a theory-based empirical approach to support an assessment that the pilot project goals were achieved. Overall, students perceived iPads to be useful and enjoyable tools for accomplishing educational tasks and improving learning outcomes.
