Statistical inference relies heavily on the concept of sampling distributions. However, sampling distributions are difficult to teach. We present a series of short animations that are story‐based, with associated assessments. We hope that our contribution can be useful as a tool to teach sampling distributions in the introductory statistics classroom.  相似文献

Measurement of serum free (ionized) calcium (Ca++) reflects true calcium status of the body in health and disease. Present study evaluates efficacy of Ca++ over total calcium (CaT) in serum for calcium status. 52 subjects were enrolled for study. Anaerobic fasting blood sample for Ca++ measurement and autoclaved plain bulb for estimation of CaT, Total protein (TP) and Albumin was used. CaT, Corrected CaT, Ca++, Calculated Ca++ were measured and correlated. Corrected CaT and calculated Ca++ were derived from the measured parameters. Study group showed significant difference between CaT and corrected CaT (p<0.006), Ca++ and calculated Ca++ (p<0.001). Negligible correlation was observed between Ca++ and serum protein. Positive correlation was observed between CaT and calculated Ca++, TP and albumin. Findings indicate that Ca++ levels are independent of serum protein status. With scrupulous sampling, Ca++ may be a better parameter than presently used CaT for assessing calcium status in serum.  相似文献

This essay details lessons learned in the completion of a dissertation on family caregivers. The four central lessons address challenges with scheduling for caregivers, caregiver understanding of their own activities, the culturally situated nature of caregiving, and the importance of advocating for one's research. Robust design and optimization for autonomous PV-wind hybrid power systems   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
This study presents a robust design method for autonomous photovoltaic (PV)-wind hybrid power systems to obtain an optimum system configuration insensitive to design variable variations. This issue has been formulated as a constraint multi-objective optimization problem, which is solved by a multi-objective genetic algorithm, NSGA-II. Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) method, combined with Latin Hypercube Sampling (LHS), is applied to evaluate the stochastic system performance. The potential of the proposed method has been demonstrated by a conceptual system design. A comparative study between the proposed robust method and the deterministic method presented in literature has been conducted, The results indicate that the proposed method can find a large mount of Pareto optimal system configurations with better compromising performance than the deterministic method. The trade-off information may be derived by a systematical comparison of these configurations, The proposed robust design method should be useful for hybrid power systems that require both optimality and robustness.  相似文献

Participants were given information about three different vacation destinations to read before discussing them in a group. Some information was given to all three group members before the discussion (shared) and some information was only given to one participant (unshared). Participants were randomly assigned to discuss the issue in either unstructured groups or Judge-Advisor Systems (JASs). A JAS is a group in which one member has the role of decisionmaker and the other two members act as advisors to the decisionmaker. Participants in JASs discussed more information and repeated a higher percentage of both their own unshared information and others’ unshared information than participants in unstructured groups. The hypothesis that others’ unshared information would be rated as more important and valid in JASs than groups was not supported.  相似文献
